If you can't find the games you're looking for at Kmart, just grab a copy of the catalogue and take it along to an EB Games store and price match it there.

I've noticed some uhh... discrepancies in qualifying and practice times.
Dead Rising 2 Multi (2 years ago)
Anyone else given in a wriggle yet? I was on it for hours last night. Probably the most fun and refreshing multiplayer I've played in a long time. I hope it builds a bit of a fanbase and stays active.
Makes the game kinda easy though. First go netted me $83,000. I got Zombrex coming out my ass now.
Opinions?

My tag says Palgn starter, but I've been here since Feb 2006
Can any mods change this? I realise I only make like, 10 posts a year, but I lurk like a mofo.
"Palgn lurker"? "Palgn spooky ghost, always watching you... spooooky ghost."
No?

I like the docile zombies. Personally, I think huge mobs of them are scarier than the sprinty kind from L4D or 28 Days Later etc.
Its horrifying to realise you're totally surrounded, with one health block, and no orange juice
But then again, this is coming from the guy who was outsmarted by a zebra in Far Cry 2, so you know... could just be me.

Re: Any word on Dead Rising 2 breaking release date? (2 years ago)
Just spoke to Big W in Newcastle, said they haven't recieved it yet, but took my number will give me a call. Apparently I can come pick it up when they receive it, but I'm not holding my breath for today. Also gave Target and K-Mart a bell and they said tomorrow.
You can usually fleece the big stores out of things like this, but it seems like a particularly hard sell with this game. Target in particular were very firm about it

Re: Any word on Dead Rising 2 breaking release date? (2 years ago)
For me, the cons of the first were well outweighed by the pros.
Big W has 23rd September as the release date on their website but 24th in the catalogue. Gonna call them now and see if I can wrangle something. Will post an update soon.

Re: advice needed for full hd tv for gaming (2 years ago)
Whatever you buy, make sure you go for 100hz, I know you said for gaming, but particularly with DVD's this makes a world of difference.
Re: Any word on Dead Rising 2 breaking release date? (2 years ago)
Case Zero has already sold me on it. I need to let work know today I won't be in tomorrow before I leave because I'll be up all night paddle-sawing zombies.
Any word on Dead Rising 2 breaking release date? (2 years ago)
Sorry if there is a thread for this, but I had a look and couldn't see anything.
Usually games being released on Fridays get broken on the Thursday. Anyone heard anything or been able to pick up a copy in NSW?
Thanks.

I don't know if its a problem I personally have. Like, a mental condition or something, but the way the bodies shape themselves, like, that elongated shape... it just always comes out looking like walking dicks. I'm probably not just very creative.
I also laugh every time.

But the goal of this game is to make stuff that looks like dicks, right? Like, that is essentially what the game is yeah?
Re: eB games playing same music and songs (3 years ago)
I went into the EB at Glendale in Newcastle, and they were playing Korn, which was fantastic.
However, the female attendant started arguing with the male attendant (clearly responsible for the music) and the conversation went as follows.
Female: What is this?
Male: Korn.
F: Can we listen to a song from my iPod?
M: No.
F: Just one song?
M: No.
F: You can pick it, any song?
M: No.
F: Please? I don't like this music, just one song??
M: No.
Which I was grateful for, because judging by the way she kept talking about hair colours, and "Modern Wargames 2 or whatever" her music would've been pretty fucking irritating... something along the lines of "If you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it" repeat 50 times.

Re: What made you smile today? (4 years ago)
I was on the phone at work, talking to an old woman and there was noise from a lawnmower in the background.
I told her I couldn't hear her, and so she told me to hold on for a second.
She then proceeded to go to her TV, and turn the volume up loud enough to drown out the lawnmower.
She came back and asked "Is that better?"
Old person backwards thinking makes my day sometimes.

Re: Tips on haggling for a new car (4 years ago)
I used to take photographs of car dealers cars for their newspaper ads, and they would talk to me like I was an insider, or one of their employees or something.
From what I saw/was told, the best way to do business is to just have a limit, and don't negotiate at all.
If you have a limit, then start lower and work your way up, they will think you have more money and will do their best to get it out of you.
If you say "I have (amount) to spend. I want (whichever car)" if they say no, say thanks, and give them your number for if they change their mind and try somewhere else.
Also, they say that the guy who comes in with an expensive suit will dick around for an hour and not buy anything, but a guy who comes in with a t-shirt, shorts and thongs will drive out with a $100,000 car. So, I guess the moral of that story, is if you wear shitty clothes, they'll think you're money.

I think I'll make a promise that when I reach 1000 posts, I will get a palgn tattoo.
Considering that, in a few days it will make my third year as a member, and this is about my 45th post, if I maintain this average it'll be over 60 years before I reach 1000 posts. This will put me in my 80's or later, but still... I'll endeavor to get that tattoo.
Anyway, Congrats on your landmark post.

Re: The Careers Thread (4 years ago)
I'm not sure if the current slump is affecting things in this industry but... if you're desperate for work? Telemarketing. Yes, it sucks, its a terrible job but its still OK money and it will give you some experience. Its how me and most of my friends got our starts after finishing year 12. None of us went to uni, so we just got crappy telemarketing jobs to try and break into the whole white-collar biz.
I was selling bottles of wine, which sucked and was unimaginably difficult. But after doing it for 6 months I basically walked into a sales rep job selling advertisements for a newspaper, and 6 months from then into a design position for the same paper. Which is the same position I'm in now and have been in for 3 years. So it worked out pretty well.
I guess, tl;dr My advice is to take a shitty telemarketing job because even though they suck the experience is invaluable and any work looks good on resumes.

The Microsoft tech support, like all other companies, varies depending on who you get.
My Xbox had the whole "freeze and make terrible static noise" that lots of Xbox's get before they RROD. The first guy I got from MS insisted that the problem was in my speakers, because of the static noise. And as much as I tried to explain that the static was a result of the console freezing, the guy wasn't interested at all, and ended up hanging up on me.
When I called back, the person I got was great help, and basically told me it was out of warranty, but if I could make it RROD, it'd be covered by the extended warranty, and to run it constantly until it overheats. Awesome.
Weird thing is, after a few days of running it to try and make it overheat, the Xbox came good anyway. That was about 6 months ago, and its still going strong. Most confusing piece of hardware ever.

Re: The gaming doldrums (4 years ago)
I usually get this for periods of about a week or so after I finish something really good.
Like, after I played Prince of Persia recently, and then for a week I was in the frame of mind that went something like "Yeah, well I could play the new Call of Duty, but whats the point because its not a new Prince of Persia."
When I finish games (particularly linear ones), if I'm still wrapped up in them at that point I get pissed off that there isn't a sequel out yet and pout for a while. Happened with Gears 2 as well.

Re: Most disappointing revisited game (4 years ago)
For me, its the old point and click adventure games on the PC.
I always re-install those, and even though they're classic games (Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Discworld, Monkey Island etc.) I play them for 10, maybe 20 minutes and can't stand looking at them any more. Even up to the point of Grim Fandango, which totally amazed me when it came out.
I guess its a case of those games being really linear as well, but I feel like they all looked and played SO much better then they appear to be now. Its better to stick with the memories.
It sucks that they don't make these games anymore though.

Re: Cod6 (4 years ago)
I think they keep the numbers for those who are less in the know about games.
That way, people will know what the latest iteration is.
I don't think its necessary with things like Fallout, because the last Fallout was 10 years ago.
But with Call of Duty 4 still being roughly the same price as World at War, its going to confuse some people. Same goes for Far Cry, Saints Row and Gears. People are stupid, and numbers help them out.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic revealed (4 years ago)
I'm conflicted over this, because in MMO's and most other RPG's I play as a ranged character because I love guns and bows and all that business... but how can you turn down a lightsaber? I suppose you could throw it, but wtf is that? Boomerang Jedi? Lame.
