Thanks, glad I wasn't kept out of the loop. I may not be the most frequent poster but I've been a regular (visitor) to this site for 6 years. Of course, the writers of this site lead, I will follow.
Shame you won't be adding Kingdoms of Amalur to you're impressive review collection on this site.

Along with all the great games you reviewed, I would more so like to thank you for all the bad games you reviewed. Playing bad games so we don't have to.

I have an idea, you could review the Tales of Symphonia remake on 3DS if you go to another site and have things come full circle.

Im curious, after you leave how many people would still be here that have been with the site since the beginning?
Wow, no wonder there has been barely any content. I hope the staff all the best in the future
Just curious, the Australian Gaming Bargins article is 2 months old. Is this feature dead on the site? Is it something you guys are no longer doing?

While we are at it the Australian release list appears to have been dead for even longer.

Someone fill me in? These were the best features of this site.
I applaude EA on this move. If I owned a multinational, multi-billion-dollar gaming company I would have just boycotted Australia until the classification system was fixed.

Yes, if I owned EA I would not release Mass Effect 3 in Australia, not send it to the OFLC and openly encourage people to get around the classification system by importing... from a place where the Australian authorities cant touch me icon_wink.gif
The Governments (Federal and the States) have admitted the ratings system is broken so its not like the Classification guidelines have a shread of credibility.

I will get this game if its a good game, not buy it if its bad. Not because a Government appointed board using an admitted broken system said so.

Its not like the Thought Police beat down my door and hurled me off to the Ministry of Love over the uncencored GTAIV or MK9... yet.
Re: Sonic CD Review (1 year ago)
I felt they improved if for nothing else but finally fixing the spin dash. It used to work on the Mega CD that you had to hold it down to get more speed. Now it works just like it does in Sonic 2. I also welcome 16:9 support.

The US soundtrack sucks except the "Sonic Boom" theme. Thankfully the Japanese one is there (Palmtree Panic is still IMO the best theme in the series)
Played the demo part at the EB Expo, did not want me to buy Tekken Hybrid but did make me interested for the next Tag Tournament game. Not going to spend $60 for a game I already own and a demo.
Damn, well I already have it preordered (collectors edition). Already played 2 zones thanks to the EB Expo and I can say the Classic levels are so close to the classic feel its nostalgic.

Uncharted 3 is going to have to wait icon_smile.gif

Re: Dark Souls Review (1 year ago)
Dark Souls looks to be harder than Demon's Souls. However I know that From Software only hurts us because they love us icon_smile.gif
I was dissapointed Sony didnt have the Vita on the show floor. The only thing worth lining up for at Sony's booth was Uncharted 3 (which don't get me wrong, is amazing).

Some Vita's with what they were showing off in the presentation (LBP & Reality Fighters in particular) along with some other games we know will be awesome (like Uncharted: Golden Abyss) would have gone a long way.
Entered, best of luck people
I was expecting it for Europe and Australia as Sony has always done that. The US delay obviously means they expect it to do big numbers in Japan and want to be able to keep up with demand.
I'll get it from Europe, classic controller pro > soundtrack

I also noticed titles like Bayonetta, Burnout: Paradise, Saints Row 2 and Vanquish in JB's regular 2 for $40 bin.
If you don't have Bayonetta & Vanquish yet: get them! Bayonetta I never felt ripped off paying $79 when it came out while Vanquish is short but sweet (I felt it would be a good $40 title, lucky I only paid $44)

Implement it, problem solved.
Fixed
July is the dry month, I cant see a single worthwhile game for the entire month. The Americans get Catherine but there is no word on when its coming to the PAL territories.
With the PAL localisation of The Last Story also in 2012, the 3 "Operation Rainfall" titles are on their way to the PAL territories.

Those 3 titles along with Skyward Sword, a possible localisation of Fatal Frame IV & possibly Dragon Quest X could make the Wii actually go out in style.
But can it run Crysis? (1 year ago)
Apparently after rumours were flying around about the possibility of the first Crysis coming to the 360, a site in South Korea got confirmation from EA Korea saying Crysis 1 is being ported to the 360

http://kotaku.com/5817371/rumor-crysis-bound-for-xbox-360

Who thinks this will run well on current consoles? Who thinks it will run like Half Life 2 did on the original Xbox? Given how much resources game needed (with a Radeon 4870 I still couldn't run smoothly on its highest settings) can the Xbox 360 truly handle Crysis?

I guess sooner or later we will find out one way or another
Except it many people are having no issues picking up their copies of Ocarina of Time 3D already.
Yes Sega own it but as we all learned from Duke, is it really the best thing if it still comes out?
I wonder if Suzuki would stay if Sega said he could do Shenmue III? If he's gone I have no doubt that if Sega decided to make the game after all they would f**k it up no doubt... in that case like Duke Nukem Forever maybe it would be better off never seeing the light of day.

Maybe after a decade of waiting it is finally time to let the dream die icon_cry.gif

He and Naka pretty much embodied everything Sega stood for.
Well, what they used to stand for. Now they stand for bad licensed titles and terrible at marketing what good games they get to publish (like for Platinum Games)

Sega still has small glimmers of hope:

1) Virtua Fighter 5 was by far the best 3D fighting game this generation (maybe not if you're a button masher icon_lol.gif)

2) Sega seem to be slowly learning that Dimps is better at making Sonic games than... well.. Sonic Team. Sonic 4 being done in episodes is a good move because it mean we don't have to wait another 16 years for another release.

3) Despite it was never going to attract a wide audience, I thought the Wii NiGHTS title was pretty good. Like Sonic 4 I was expecting nothing but pure fan service and thats what I got.

4) House of the Dead: Overkill... said enough.

Nintendo are not known for making expensive consoles.
I reckon they over price their hardware, but because their hardware isn't always too technologically modern, they still get away with being the cheaper option.

The 3DS isnt selling that well partly due to a high price point for that audience, for that they need to cut price and release games before the Vita launches.
The 3DS isn't selling too well because there's not really any good games on it to warrant someone spending that much on it. Things might change next week when Ocarina of Time 3D comes out, but not by much I reckon.
Yes I know Nintendo consoles are not modern that is WHY they usually compete well on price while making a profit on their hardware. I do not see them giving up this strategy.

Im taking a look at the majority that bought a DS and Wii, these were the causal audiences that are not prepared to spend big on a high end video card, a PS3 or 360 when they were higher priced. The Wii at the time was cheap and found games to resonate with that audience, an audience for whom gaming is a lot less of a priority and thus not willing to spend as much money.

Nintendo's challenge is not only to convince that audience to upgrade to the Wii U but for the current gen core audience to adopt the Wii U where most games will end up on systems they already own. A high price will not help either of those causes.

On to the 3DS, I said "partly". A higher price point will hurt them and having a price very similar to the Vita could hurt them. I just think Nintendo will benefit from a $50 price cut by the time the Vita comes out but at the same time not come off as reacting.

Another issue is the 3DS is not just competing with the Vita but also the iPhone and possibly in the future Android. The iPhone has been found as a place for small casual bite size gaming that really resonates with people and that can chomp away at 3DS and Vita sales.

Sony I think is making a smart move with the Xperia Play and the PS Suite, that way they can keep ahead of Apple technology wise (going quad core by the end of the year if they choose), have a mobile OS that analysts expect to become #1 within the next few years (Android) and have a mobile gaming platform where people don't want to carry around multiple devices.
I just started the game passed the Deku Tree on my way home from work. The boss must have taken 15 seconds.

When I picked it up, one thing that I gasped is my mate who is a reasonably big Zelda fan actually admitted she never actually played Ocarina before but she "played all the new ones" which I am guessing is Wind Waker onwards.

One thing that sucks is right now Im also playing Link's Awakening DX as well on the 3DS Virtual Console which actually is my favourite game in the series.

Bit disappointed by the lack of a gold cartridge
Ditto
Nintendo are not known for making expensive consoles. The machine itself would be rather cheap to make. Its tech is pretty much on par with the other HD consoles with some extra grunt which when it launches will be 7 years after the 360's launch.

The CPU will be faster, not hard to do. There will be more RAM (cutting down development costs and RAM is dirt cheap). The video card could raise the price but Im not expecting anything modern. The controller will be expensive no doubt.

The package though I expect about $400 for it to be able to compete with the 360 and PS3. The 3DS isnt selling that well partly due to a high price point for that audience, for that they need to cut price and release games before the Vita launches.
My last PC had a 4870 and I can tell you its a DirectX 10.1 card. Im not sure about the 5000 series but the 6000 series do support DX11.

You can get pretty cheaply a HD6870 or GTX570 for reasonable prices these days.

That being said not many games utilise DirectX 11. Rage will be using OpenGL. Metro requires PhysX to get the most out of it and there is not alot of difference in the look of AvP, Bad Company 2 or Homefront.

I will be patching Crysis 2 because I have a GTX590 which I bought in anticipation for Rage (nVidia cards usually do OpenGL better)

I hope they realise that makes no difference apart from hushing the Helen Lovejoys of our world.
When will the world learn to stop trying to appease the Helen Lovejoys?
Speaking of Rockstar, Agent was announced 2 years ago as a Rockstar North developed title and we have heard literally squat ever since.

I personally rate GTVIV my least pleasent Rockstar experience this generation. Not bad but Red Dead & L.A. Noire are so much better.

Given Rockstar is doing such good work on creating new franchises I am more looking forward to Agent than GTAV

After two weeks of impressive releases we finally enter somewhat of a dry period
Dry period? Really? Considering the latest Street Fighter IV and Shadows of the Damned being released this week, F.E.A.R. 3 and Ocarina of Time 3D being released next week.

If you ask me, June has been a very good month. July looks to be dry, especially considering we are not getting Catherine like the Americans are. Does anyone know of any games coming in July?
