Does assigning a static IP involve dealing with BigPond? I think they charge money to do a static IP. It shouldn't have to come to that.
And also, I am a bit of a novice, so instructions are always handy.

yes, another thread about PS3 DNS Errors! Arghhhh (3 years ago)
This is probably the most frustrating thing I have ever encountered.
I have been having the common DNS error 8001707 etc etc whatever it is.
Whenever I somehow manage to get online, I am kicked off almost instantly anyway.
I have looked up HEAPS of ways to fix this and have tried different things in the settings on my PS3 and as a result of that have got nowhere and now when I try and do a wireless scan when setting up the connection in the PS3, it is saying it can't obtain an IP address!
I am using a wireless connection with a Siemens Speedstream 6520 and am using Bigpond.
Can anyone help?? Please...
