Re: Which was the last game you finished? (1 year ago)
Finished Skyrim about a week ago. I didn't really expect to play it, let alone finish it. Previously, I had completed the main quest in Oblivion, and played a bit of Morrowind. Neither game really appealed to me at the time though, feeling more like a chore than something enjoyable.
Watching my Dad create his character and start his game in Skyrim though, I saw how I would've done things differently and decided to give it a go myself. I'm glad I did, because I've been really enjoying immersing myself in the gameworld. And an immersive gameworld it is. It's so easy to just go off and do your own thing, spending as long as you like doing whatever you like. With nothing pulling you by the nose down some predetermined path, there is a great sense of freedom.
My character is a female Imperial, skilled in magic and archery.
One of the first things I did, and it's something that ended up contributing to me enjoying Skyrim so much, was having Faendal as a companion. With him I was able to build my archery skill quite high by paying for lessons and then taking the money back from his inventory. From there I just made my way through the game killing everything with arrows.
I absolutely LOVED the Dark Brotherhood quests, and having sided with the Stormcloaks, I found their missions pretty fun as well. The ending was slightly anti-climatic, but I still have lots of stuff to do if I decide to go back to the game.
I stopped playing in the end because of a glitched mission. What happened is, there's an enemy in my Windhelm home who is incorrectly marked as essential by the game. So he never dies properly and is always attacking me or my wife. Really annoying. He's always there because it used to be his house (and because of his connection with the glitched quest).
Because I got sick of that, I resumed my old Oblivion game. Thanks to Skyrim, I feel I have a deeper appreciation of Oblivion now. Compared to Skyrim, it doesn't seem quite so overwhelming with the sheer amount of things to do. In Skyrim it could become a little daunting until you just relax and take everything at your own pace. Oblivion is slightly prettier too imo. The gameplay isn't quite as deep; there's no smithing (apart from repairing with hammers), no companions (outside of certain quests) and all the guilds and who is who is pretty straight-forward. So it's kind of like a less glitchy Skyrim-lite.
But yeah, I'd probably give Skyrim like an 8. If it was less glitchy, perhaps a 9.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC)
Since I've enjoyed all the other Bioware games I've played (Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age: Origins) and I currently don't have a console or PC powerful enough for Dragon Age 2, Dad suggested I try KotOR. So, I managed to find a copy of it yesterday and I put a few hours into it earlier.
It's really easy to tell that this is a Bioware game, it reminds me a lot of Dragon Age, except it's set in the Star Wars universe. So far, I'm loving it.
Also, in Mass Effect, I grew attached to Kaidan (my Shepard's love interest), so it was cool to find that it's the same voice actor they used for Carth, the first party member you recruit in KotOR.
Anyway, gtg... I have a galaxy to save

Braid
I loved the time-based puzzle gameplay of Braid. It felt really fresh and unique for a sidescroller. I named my cat Timmy (after the main character), because he'd sit and watch the screen and jump at him all the time.
Borderlands
This game was fun for chilling out with friends, either in the split-screen or online. I loved all the unique weapons and killing bosses in the co-op.
Fable 2
Fable 2 was epic and having a companion dog was cool.
Dragon Age: Origins
Like Fable 2 kind of, but more serious and a lot more depth.
Wind Waker
This was my favourite game on Gamecube, finished it 3 times. I also love Ocarina of Time, but I played Wind Waker first.
Halo: Combat Evolved
The first first-person shooter I played, I remember the multiplayer being heaps of fun.
Heavy Rain
I just love love love Heavy Rain. It may not be conventional in a lot of ways, but the story and characters were awesome and I liked all the story branches. It had a lot of replayability.
Grand Theft Auto IV
Playing GTAIV was like throwing myself into another living, breathing world. I found it really immersive and I loved the characters.
Uncharted 2
Graphics were awesome. Helped that it was a fun game too.

Dragon Age: Origins (PS3)
Once I got back into this, I was determined to see it through haha.
I found the story to be quite interesting. Was my favourite part of the game. The RPG strategy elements with the battles was pretty good too. I always found that if my party died, I'd just try a different approach and 9 times out of 10, things would work out better
My character was a Warrior Female Noble. (spoilers ahead) ... I hooked her up with Alistair, he became King and not long after, they got married. I chose the 'Morrigan gets pregnant' (to Alistair) ending.
I love the depth in this game. It seems the smallest choices can make big differences with how the story plays out. I've started a new game, this time as a Male Mage, and I'm gonna try doing things a bit differently this time.
I'd give the game... probably an 8/10

Dragon Age: Origins. Had a bit of a break from this game, but started getting back into it yesterday. Ended up playing for like 7hrs straight. I find the game really addictive. I'm about 30hrs in now.
The only thing I don't like is the spiders (I'm a major arachnophobe). The way they hiss and drop down, real creepy-like, it makes me scream out in terror lol. I can't look at the screen with the spiders there, so I'm glad the combat isn't realtime or something, because then I wouldn't be able to play it.

Here's a pro-tip for you: If you can't take a bit of criticism over your trolling, maybe being a troll isn't for you.

Crysis 2
What an awesome game. Loved the graphics, the excellent cinematic presentation and the whole stealth aspect. Had heaps of fun playing this. I didn't get all the SP trophies, but I'll be playing through again, for sure.

Also Nikki, do you actually live right near a cemetary? Because that is pretty boss. All I live near is angry dudebros with subwoofers.
You should get an 'Angry Dudebros with Subwoofers Repellent' shirt, Denny.
