Re: Your newest purchase (1 year ago)
I'm a fan (as you might of noticed from my username
) but yeah, I've decided to give it a miss. If it was a brand new MGS game that retailed for $80/90 selling at $120 for the CE I'd give it a shot but it's just a re-release and the only thing that interests me is the book so it's just not worth it. I've found the game for as little as $45 imported so $100 is just stupid for what you get. The original zavii exclusive made me bite originally, but for the life of me I can't remember what was in it.
If the PS Vita release wasn't just around the corner I might of jumped for it, thankfully I can't really afford it as I could see myself regretting it. I'm still kinda wondering why in the hell I bought the Skyrim CE, lol. I mean the art book was lovely but I haven't looked at it since the first time I went through it and my dragons still in the box.
To get on topic, I pre-ordered a wi-fi PS Vita from GAME the other day, they throw in a copy of Ridge racer so that's cool. I also pre-ordered a 16gb memory stick and Everybody's Golf (I love these games and can't wait to play it on Vita).

So I cancelled my Zavvi Pre-order of MGS HD Collection after they changed the content, is it really worth the extra $50 for a shirt (that wont fit my fat arse) and the art book? I'm not being a smart-arse either, do you think I'll regret not buying it?

How can that only have 18000 views??? Maybe in the future I can be hipsterish and say I knew the meme before it was cool.

I had the Pokemon N64 console when it came out! Goldeneye on Chrissy day 99 ....... good times
Oh, and have fun with the PS3 Jessara. I just got Batman today and would recommend you get the first. You get to unlock all the tech in the first game, it's all unlocked in the second and even having played the first it was a little much getting all the toys at once in Arkham City. Besides that, the first game is really great anyway, so is Yakuza. And Valkyria Chronicles is probably my favourite game this gen, good choices

Re: What game are you playing? (1 year ago)
I got Rayman Origins as a belated Chrissie present from my Mum (she kinda got me a dud present initially). It's easily the purtiest game bought out this year and the game play seems fun as well. I like the easy to pick up hard to master kind of gameplay in platformers, where a level may be easy to playthrough but a challange to 100%. I'm really digging the atmosphere too, I kinda got over all the dancing in Rayman 2 after playing both the N64 and 3DS versions but it's really quiet charming in Origins, although the way in which the little dude jumps on the lum container at the end of a level is a bit disturbing
I also got Disgaea 4 on Wednesday afternoon so I'm in 2D heaven. The sprites and levels aren't really in the same league as Rayman but they hold their own. It's also rather nonsensical like Rayman in the character and story department too. They're really both the gaming equivalent of LSD.
Playing both of them makes me wish for a Studio Ghibli SRPG with the graphical fidelity of Rayman. Although I should really just thank my lucky stars that there are company's like NIS America that bring games like Disgaea to the west and hope that Rayman moves enough copies to warrant a sequel.

^ So, I started it up and bang, almost a 2.5 gig download! What on Earth are they patching that is that big?! Looking at a downloadable version of the game (ahem, warez scene), the entire game is less than that!
Tried a different PS3 without the patch, no work.
So, I took it back for a refund.
Yay.
Anyway, it's working fine for me and I've put around 8 hours in so far. I have the PSP Disgaea (hour of darkness?) and liked the characters but got overwhelmed by the size of the game (not to mention I've never enjoyed playing the PSP) and never stuck it out the couple of times I tried getting into it, I'm not having that problem now though, which is good.
The patch pre-loads the DLC btw, which is why it's so large. That said, the US patch is apparently "only" 900 or so megs.
I also got Valkyria Chronicles II as well. I saw it for $13 and couldn't resist. I think I'll tolerate the PSP for this one

Jesus, you just named the only other video game guy who I hate for his name alone. It seems American McGee didn't choose he's name but still, he could have some decency and have it legally changed. He did make Bad Day LA though so I'm conflicted on him also.

Gears of What? I don't know such a game...
From my understanding and the presentations at E3 this year, Cliffy's role wasn't as direct as it has been in the past... one of those situations where other guys at Epic were being given a go to finish things off, while Cliffy was being wheeled out to present it. And if we're talking game design, well, I don't consider Gears of War to be exemplary.
With all due respect, of course, Cliffy B is a fantastic guy to talk to about games. He's got a really straight-forward and passionate way of approaching things. And he likes Tim Tams

Hi guy's, got a very good bargain for ya. For the low low price of free you could be the owner of the critically acclaimed* game Dino D day!
Yeah, just bought the Indie Royale pack and neither my computer nor my internet connection would ever allow me the thrills of killing Nazi Dinosaurs so I'll give the key away to the first person to post dibs on it in this thread. Please don't ask for it if you're contemplating buying the Indie Royale bundle or if you already have the game, unless you want to give it as a gift to someone else of course
.
*This claim my not be accurate, truth be told I don't think I've ever heard of the game .
Gutsman gets the game.

I think that's probbably one of the biggest strengths of the game, you can't really walk more then 5-10 minutes in any direction from anywhere without finding something
When you get far enough to get dragons it just gets even crazier.
So on my Punching Orc.
I'm playing him by certain rules, basically approaching every fight as an honourable fight. No ranged attacks, no sneak attacks, never start a fight only defend myself etc.
Basically I'm playing him like Dudley from SF3 in an RPG.
This makes it really **** hard to get a dragons attention.
Seriously does anyone have any suggestions?

I think Big W had it for $79. Don't know if you consider that good or not.
Edit- Actually $78

I know it's an online price but I saw it for that price in the last catalogue they sent out as well so it should be that price in-store.

Re: One Questions (1 year ago)
So more asking for peoples opinions than a question. Magic 2012 is on sale for 400MSP right now and was wondering if the upgrades worth it for that price if you have the original? I bought the first one, enjoyed it but never beat it. Is 12 a noticeable upgrade, same ol' **** or a step down?
Cheers.
Cheers.

It has to be one of the best games this gen. Shame they shifted the series to PSP, hopefully we see a God Of War Origins like port for PS3.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. (1 year ago)
Man, still barely touching missions but having fun. I switched to wielding a single hand sword rather than re-rolling and just paying for training to level it up to scratch.
Unfortunately for me I've reached the point where my save is so big that on the PS3 the game turns into a slide show after an hour or two of playing
I've found a comment on youtube (I know, I know...) that gives some PS3 settings to change that apparently helps, fingers crossed. Hopefully Bethesda release another patcher soon (I know , I know....)

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. (1 year ago)
Man, I really love this game but I think I've kind of burnt myself out. I've put in around 50 hours and I'm at LV 34 with 100 Blacksmithing and 80 Bow. The insane thing is I'm yet to complete a quest line! I've done a handful of story quests a handful of Companion and Thief guild quests and got accepted as a Bard and the rest are all the little misc quests and single non quest line deals. I'm now starting to chip away and focus on the thieves guild, I don't think my mind can take much more random fetching from strangers.
I think a part of my stall has come from the fact that I can pretty much print money because of my smithing and I'm pretty much on the cusp of having the best gear yet there's still so much more "main game" left. I'm starting to feel like I should re-roll and go through the quest lines before I essentially grind all the little nothing missions and leave myself no room to develop further.
Again, great game but I've essentially been unintentionally grinding for 50 hours

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. (1 year ago)
I'm playing as a Nord Bowman. I always wanted to play with a bow in Oblivion but it was crappy. It seems they've got it right this time. Btw, I didn't even realise you could make a choice between the two guys at the start of the game, I just followed the Imperial and hoped I didn't get eaten, lol.
Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. (1 year ago)
Ok, I got impatient and went on and bought it. Turn it on anticipating many hours of nerdgasms and BAM! Update
It's only 58 megs so it ain't that bad, but still. Remember the times when you got home with your new game, unwrapped it, went through the manual (which was colour) and finally put the game in the system after your anticipation was just too high and you were rewarded with that all too familiar start up logo for your console of choice, then it was all beautiful new game time from than on out. Oh well. Times change.
Btw, Frozencry, I'm pretty sure the games going to be awesome, but either way, reviews should be coming up in the next couple of hours (I think) and it's a Thursday so the shops should still be open.
Edit: Lol, download complete........ now installing.

Thanks Ads, was going to pick this up at GAME yesterday for $40.
Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. (1 year ago)
Good point, but still, Playing Skyrim is hardly going to help is it?
Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. (1 year ago)
Benzas right, but that said Skyrim doesn't seem to be just a bit of an update like the difference's between FallOut 3 and FO New Vegas. There's the risk that Skyrim might be so much of an improvement that it makes Oblivion seem archaic as a result. Obviously I haven't played Skyrim so have no idea if that's the case. But yeah, apart from being less familiar with the world of Tamriel not having played Oblivion shouldn't mean anything (except you're not currently wetting your pants for Skyrim like I am right now).
