I mean, the staff here have done an awesome job over the past few years, and I appreciate it as much as the next person. But due to some internal squabble that we, the general public, know very little about, they quit. Jumping on some Roland hate bandwagon with only one side of the story is a bit dumb I think.
If Roland were intelligent, cunning even, he could have easily turned the slow exodus in his favour by fabricating the scenario. Heck, he could even start telling the "truth". However, regardless of what you consider "truth"; nothing substantial has come out of his mouth and he has been dodging legtimate query and criticism for more than a reasonable period of time.
If you're trying to defend him on the basis of the shadow of doubt, you're starting to look like Garrett (Thief) clinging onto a blob of black in an open field of the plainest of daylight.

What makes you feel so special that you think you're speaking for 'many others' here, who apparently share your lack of humour? It was a joke. Have you seen his last post?
No one opinion is stronger than any other here. If you're going to start bringing delusions of granduer into the debate, you're basicaslly falling victim to them in the process.

Honestly, Discosis reminds me of a technician I liaised with for a corporate client some time ago, who claimed to have Cisco certification, but didn't know how to bridge a modem. You figure that one out.

I'm confused.
At first, I thought all applies to forumers in general but as I read further, it seems like it alternates audiences. Stuff like who is banning users? who do you say is the one that is getting the attention of media and publishers? who is taking a shot at departing staffs? who needs to act like a professional? this is bringing in more questions!

The bad rap is surely affecting the plans for the new site management. To go to the effort of calling out the consequences of the show is one thing, but they're being very careful to distill this.
The whole post reeks of straw-man.
Sure, the stones being thrown are somewhat justified, but I'm catching onto a strong feeling that the only reason they're being thrown is because both sides are suffering. I mean, it's fairly well evidenced that Roland & Discosis only intervene when its favourable for them to do so. They've had eons of time to get off their arses and appeal to the users.

Excuse me, but as much as I may sympathize with your view, I thought you were here "to move the 0's and 1's around".
My question is why now are you involving yourself with the forum politics? Why isn't the guy who's supposed to be doing it, doing it?

Personally, I agree with Roland's changes. By forcing out all of PALGN's high quality editorial staff, we won't have any new reviews/news, and therefore, less traffic, and therefore the website will load faster! Especially once everyone has left!

What's not to love about a new continent and theme that hasn't been sucked directly from the Warcraft RTS titles? It's exactly what the game needs right now; an open ticket to go crazy without lore restrictions.
That is, unless you think finding an even bigger villian than Deathwing is really going to add anything to the experience...

Haha. I never actually recall a sore back.
But that being said, fighting Galactus atop a chunk of rock in the middle of space, only to use my shoulder to stop his entire fist from hitting the planet does make things a little sore. Where do you think I've been the past few days?
Being alpha is a hard life.

Mortal Kombat 9 got it's **** sucked hardcore for it's story and plays through in basically the exact same way.

The Mortal Kombat 9 story stood very well on it's own two feet and would have been difficult to implement to such quality if you could pick your toon.
Additionally, such a mode gives you good reason to learn more characters.

I should probably put that in the "smile" thread.

Miniatures, anyone? (1 year ago)
So, I've posted this around a few different communities, though I'm not so sure anyone here will appreciate this sort of thing.
Basically, I'm into Warhammer. The actual miniature gaming. I only recently got back into it having come into financial independence because, let's face it, this hobby is expensive.
Basically, I've turned the following...
Bretonnian Pegasus Knight
Into this...
Apologies for the poor image quality; the work isn't quite complete (gotta do the basing and some minor touch-ups) before I go at it with the proper camera.

All this 100Hz/200Hz stuff they're bandying about on new TVs is confusing me. From what I understand, most content is delivered in 50Hz or 60Hz, so what's the point of having a TV capable of twice or four times that? Sounds like another gimmick to me.

Yes, I was well aware that I could buy it cheaper online.

If y'all are sick of the antics of this illiterate keyboard warrior, make the move and sign up over at Gamerdungeon. Falcon has a low tolerance level when it comes to trolls and generally annoying behaviour, so it's a nice place to discuss gaming without all the ****.
A good few years back, I obtained a moderator position at a now defunct Australian gaming forum. Sadly, due to my inept social ability and a poor call of judgement, I spent more of my time pushing a lawless vigilante attitude against flaming and trolls (though the latter wasn't called such a thing at the time) rather than acting as an embodiment of the forums rules and guidlines. My contribution of influence to the forums was more of an egocentric attitude than coercing the forum members to contribute.
This was unintentional, as I had only the best wishes for the community and positive influence in mind, but I ultimately failed at my job because I let the power get to my head. So I walked away and let someone more worthwhile take the reins.
Promoting such an attitude for one of the hosts of a forum is only going to result in a toxic and bitter community brimming with contempt rather than content. If you actually think promoting your slice of some sort of warped paradise in such a manner is going to go down well, prepare your fellows to feel their arses hit the ground hard; sooner or later. Take that from experience.
To be fair, I don't love Benza or his posts. It's quite clear he enjoys stirring you because he actually mistook myself for you once and brandished an attack on me before I even realized it had happened. You know what? It really didn't bother me. At the end of the day, while I may not agree with Benza's style and his personality, I accept that he has a unique contribution here and he is entitled to be himself; to encompass his own way of life. As long as he doesn't break the rules, nobody has any right to tell him or anyone else how to be.
Part of enjoying a community, online or offline, is accepting that not everyone is going to think or feel the same way as you.
Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (1 year ago)
So don't buy the game new then. Ask yourself, are seven optional quests worth you paying the extra dollars for a new copy? Your choice.
If you let the entire thing sway you completely off of playing what could be an enjoyable gaming experience, then you're simply missing out.

if anyone feels that the image quality of a Sony is "fantastic" in general, then I dare say that they haven't seen what some of the better TVs can actually do.
However, Panasonic predominately focus on Plasma and their range sub-40' leaves a little to be desired. With that said, they easily make some of the best panels that I've ever seen.
Sonys are great at the upper-end of the market, but that's exactly the problem. By the time you get up to that end, you've already got a lot of ample competitors for much less dollars.
Personally, I'm a Plasma man now, but I have dealt with both major tech brackets.
The problem is at 32', your options are admittedly limited. If you're deadset on LCD tech, Samsung is probably the next-best option, but they're known to have an above-average failure rate. Some of the Sharps bear the same panels as Sonys, but don't cost the same absurd amount of dosh, so they're also a viable option. I miss Hitachis, I'm bummed that they pulled out of the market as they were a great comparison.
LG are rubbish.
Ideally, if you must go LCD, it really pays to put down the extra and get some form of LED technology in there, otherwise you're just throwing money away.
With that said, it kinda reinforces my point that you don't need t spend money for a Sony when you can get the same (or better) for less.
