My copy of Last Story Ltd Ed shipped from HMV yesterday. Hopefully they post it in a box. Sounds like a good thing that I didn't go with Game.co.uk, who I was initially going to go with. Hopefully this is selling well.
Re: BlazBlue (1 year ago)
I posted a message on Game's Facebook page last night asking what was in the special edition and got the following response:

"Limited Edition contents includes:
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend Limited Edition game
Official soundtrack from Daisuke Ishiwatari
Graphic Novel and Art Book
Visual character and plot map - detailing the world of BlazBlue and the relationships within it"

Looks like it's the same as EBs version icon_smile.gif
Re: BlazBlue (1 year ago)
I preordered at Game... but they don't actually say what's in the limited edition on their website. Might have to cancel if it's the same as JBs version, 'cause I want the one that EBs has advertised and just assumed that was the same thing that every store here was getting.
Seaman was something I always wanted to check out on the Dreamcast and never got a chance to, so this is pretty cool news.

I was so happy they brought across pretty much all of the Japanese content this time. Yakuza 3 was great, but it felt a bit stripped down.

I spent so much time catching Tuna, playing golf, singing karaoke, dating hostesses etc. icon_lol.gif

Has anyone made it level 50 on the arcade game? I always make it to the high 40s and then run out of time.
I can barely make it past 20-odd stages of Boxelios, but with Boxelios 2 I usually get in the high 40s. Haven't broken the 50 barrier yet.

I'm up to the 3rd character now, as I haven't had much time to play recently. I'm really enjoying each character's story thus far and have enjoyed the integration of the past characters with the new ones. I think I spent a bit too much time stuffing around town with Akiyama as now I'm pretty keen to get through and see the rest of the story.

Having said that, the last couple of hours I spent playing this was at the mahjong tables icon_razz.gif
Soooo the results are in:

The person who got the closest to the number without going over, was Mikezilla (with a guess of 551). Congrats and I'll PM you shortly to get your postal address icon_smile.gif

Thanks again to everyone who entered. I didn't realise till afterwards that my post sounded like a farewell, but my intention was just to say thanks and have a giveaway for all the present members while they were still... present, I guess.
I'm gonna draw this at 8pm tonight, so if anyone hasn't put in an entry yet and would like to, you'd better do it soon!

Big thanks to everyone who has entered so far icon_smile.gif
I ordered the limited edition of Last Story from HMV (I think). It was a few dollars more than at ozgameshop. I'm not expecting it to be in the same league as Xenoblade, but still above average as Mistwalker has developed it. Might try and get stuck into it straight away so I'm actually playing the game at the same time as most other people, rather than six months later due to the backlog icon_razz.gif
Pretty keen for this as I'm a big fan of FF music and rhythm games. Just a bit disappointed with the character design (an obvious tie-in to the Square-Enix merch with the same design). There seems to be a really good selection of songs though and I think there's also DLC songs as well?

This looks like a lot of fun, so fingers crossed it makes it to PAL.
Re: 3DS demos are go (1 year ago)
Shame to hear it's not too good, but I'll give it a crack. Any excuse to fire up the 3DS for a few minutes. After getting 3 again in the HD collection, I probably wouldn't be looking at buying it again on another platform regardless of how good it turned out.
I've been playing a bit of Yakuza 4. Think I'm pretty close to the end of the first character's story arc. So far I'm loving it, even more so than the 3rd game. There's just so much to do and somehow the game manages to make all the weirdly hilarious stuff (like the revelations and some of the substories) feel like it's not out of place with the actual seriousness of the rest of the stuff.

Initially I was a little disappointed with Akiyama's moveset as most of the Heat moves had been recycled, but now he's got his own brutal moves, it's all good.

Should probably be further along in the story, but have been too busy gambling, bowling, poking hostesses, playing pachinko, searching for locker keys and a whole heap of other stuff. It's a pretty sweet game. Just sorry it took me this long to fire it up.
Few trade-in values. Game's values include the extra $5 going at the moment.

Goldeneye (Wii): Game - $19, EBs - $15
Wii CC Pro: Game - $7, EBs - $4
Metroid Trilogy: Game - $13, EBs - $22
Hyperdimension Neptunia: Game - $24, EBs - Couldn't find in system when I called.
Ninety Nine Nights: Game - $5.50
Zack & Wiki: Game - $8
Eternal Sonata (360): Game - $8
Singstar Pop: Game - $10

Metal Gear HD - Grabbed from Game after quite a few trade-ins. If I'd known we were just getting a restickered UK version, I probably would've just kept my Zavvi preorder. The 2 soundtracks were from VGM World (they're closing down and all their preowned stuff is 50% off). I think those were about $40 all up. Cross Edge was via ebay. Been trying to track down a PAL copy for a decent price since stupidly selling my copy a while back.
Hey guys, I figure I'd better do this now (better late than never).

So, I have 2 Capcom 2012 calendars. One is Capcom Heroes and the other is Capcom Girls. I bought these with the intention of giving one away on my 2-year anniversary with PALGN (16th December), but just never got around to it.

Just post in this thread with a number between 1 & 999 (inclusive) and say whether you want the Girls calendar or the Heroes calendar (I'm guessing the names are description enough to give you an idea of what the pictures will be of). I'll randomly generate a number on Tuesday night and whoever gets the closest without going over, will win the calendar of their choice.

I know I'm not overly active on the forums, but I just wanted to say thanks for the past couple of years and that my daily visits to PALGN have been something I've enjoyed a lot and whether you knew it or not, there's been a lot of stuff posted on the forums that have either helped me, made me think or made me laugh. Also big thanks to all the writers for their reviews and news as well. Some of the fairest and most well-written reviews I've ever read.

Anyway, thanks and good luck!
I'd forgotten about Soul Calibur coming out. Wonder if the activity will drop further with the new Blazblue coming out next week?

Yeah, there weren't a lot of lv4 connections and I'm not sure which regions I was playing against. I'm guilty of being one of those noobs, but try to console myself knowing that I still try and play every match, not just throw out constant fireballs icon_razz.gif I really need to go back to the drawing board as I realised I was trying to play this game like SF, but they're pretty different beasts.

Friend matches are the way to go. icon_wink.gif
Yeah, I was on a bit later than I wanted to be. Sorry about that. If you see me online and want a few matches, feel free to send me a message icon_smile.gif My schedule is pretty messed up at the moment, so I'm on at pretty random times (usually late at night). Pretty sure I won't be up to your standard though!
Had some matches online last night and they were a bit of a mixed bag. The first few were extremely laggy and just fireball-fests. Never realised how hard it was to dodge a fireball when you can't jump properly or roll.

Actually had a few lag-free matches after that, but they were against people that actually knew how to play the game and they proceeded to wipe the floor with me. It's insane how quick the game plays when you're up against someone who knows what they're doing (lots of hop jumping, dashing and cross-ups) and playing the game against the CPU appears to have been a complete waste of time.

Not heaps of fun, as there's obviously more to learn about the game than I realised. Also quite difficult to get matches happening (took an hour just to have about 6 matches).

I don't think I am that good. I can pull of basic combos and use every character on a fundamental level. (All basics specials and moves etc). But not good enough to go into excessive details like hitboxes, timing etc like others in PALGN.
That sounds about the level I am (play for slightly competitive fun, but don't get into it on a technical level), except I'm having trouble with the timing of combos in this game and haven't even touched half the roster yet, so you're probably a couple of steps ahead icon_razz.gif

Might be up for some matches tonight, if anyone is interested.
I'm enjoying the game, but it's so unforgiving when it comes to command inputs, so have stopped playing to focus on other games due to my unco-ordination. Might have a crack at some online matches a bit later, but pretty sure I won't bother much with this once Blazblue gets here in a couple of weeks.

Also, does anyone know what the deal is with the upcoming KOF XIII Climax? Is it just an arcade version featuring the DLC console characters, or is it a Capcom-style move?

Just a few random things I picked up recently. Ninja Gaiden was from JBs for $24. Yakuza from the local post office for $20. Under a Killing Moon (new and sealed) from the op-shop for $4. The Lucasarts pack from ebay for about $30 and the Douglas Adams books were $15.

Nothing too exciting aside from Under a Killing Moon, which is something I've wanted to get a copy of for a while (borrowed it off a friend and finished it when I was a kid). I was stoked to find what appears to be a brand new copy for cheap.
I think some of the Ambassador stuff is supposed to come out for everyone to be able to buy later on and some stuff is meant to be for ambassadors only and won't be coming out. Not sure which category Fusion will fall into though and maybe I got the wrong end of the stick.

Cart shouldn't be too hard to track down, though it may be a bit pricey.
At EBs stand alone prices, you save more than a dollar (RE is $68 and the attachment is $23 = $91). The game is at least $10 more expensive than it will be everywhere else though and the attachment will probably be cheaper elsewhere as well.

I want it all... but so expensive... icon_sad.gif
Re: Gaming Bargains V2 (1 year ago)
Dunno if it's at every JBs, but the one I went to today (Belconnen, Canberra) had 50% off all their PS2 games. Most of the 2nd hand games were about $14 before the discount, but a couple of the new games were only marked at 50 cents.

A few things accumulated since Christmas. A couple of Mario Kart K'nex thingies from Big W. The game and CDs were from Myer for 75% off. The Revoltech Anubis and 3DS card storage case came from amiami.

Had a pretty good haul of records from a local op-shop but that's just a small selection of them. They were $1 each, so I went a bit overboard and in the end I got about 20 records, including a few Beatles records which I'm pretty stoked about.

BBCS is the first fighter I've even attempted to be 'serious' about and I've only been playing competitively online since I joined this site. I was also learning how to play with an arcade stick at the same time, so you're not too far behind.

I improved a lot from constantly being owned by David/everyone but it wasn't too long before I picked up the basics.

I like to use characters that I'm not very good at playing as well, so I'll lay off my Noel and Rachel a bit. icon_smile.gif

Mind if I add you?
I grew up with SF and although I'm not very good at it, I understand the mechanics. Blazblue kinda felt like a souped up Guilty Gear, which is great as I like Guilty Gear, but it was just too much to get my head around at the time.

Definitely add me as I'm keen to get some matches going in the future icon_smile.gif
It's only 45 pounds now, which seems not so bad. Looks like the regular edition is 30 pounds RRP and the limited is 50 pounds RRP.
Re: BlazBlue (1 year ago)
My copy of Arcana Heart is still in the shrinkwrap... I should probably open that up at some point icon_razz.gif

You'd still be able to wipe the floor with me, no doubt. I didn't even end up finding a main that I wanted to use. Street Fighter I get to an extent, but Blazblue was completely foreign to me and I struggled a lot to try and get used to it.

Join us Pilot! BB all the way sir. We handful of PALGN BBer's are so tiny. lol

I've added you btw. icon_smile.gif
Cheers icon_smile.gif Lack of TV was preventing me from using the PS3, but I've got a couple of days of work this week. Once that's done I'll be blowing the money on a small TV, so I'll be able to fire up the PS3 again this week.
I registered all but one of my eligible games outside the promotion period and my account still says I need to register another game to get the Kid Icarus code and enter the comp. I went to Myer today to see if I could grab an eligible title on the cheap, but no luck. I did get 10 Streetpass hits though, so it wasn't all bad news icon_razz.gif
Re: BlazBlue (1 year ago)
That's true icon_wink.gif

With the stick and free online (PS3), I'm hoping to get stuck into some versus matches in the near future!

Yeah, that Ragna cover is pretty bad ass. Pilot, you play much/often? icon_biggrin.gif
I played Calamity Trigger when it came out, but didn't end up playing it very much. I'm keen to get back into fighting games this year, starting with this, KOF XIII and picking up SSFIV AE as well, but my experience is pretty limited so don't expect too much of a challenge icon_razz.gif
I was really excited about this game, but with so many delays and no major updates, I kinda worry a bit. This should've been out before XIII-2, shouldn't it? Oh well, fingers crossed.
