Worth it for the commentary.
Re: What made you smile today? (1 year ago)
Me again.
In Target, this kid, about 12, goes up to the counter and asks for an ipod nano. The guy grabs him one, asks him if he's allowed to buy it. Kid says "yeah I'm here with Nan"
Dude scans it and says that'll be $140.
The kid looks at him, and says I've only got $11, is that okay?

Ugh, take it to the "I met the love of my life on PALGN" thread lads.
Re: NextBox to be 6 times power of 360 (1 year ago)
Another rumour going is that it won't allow you to play 'used' games at all.
I love my 360 but if they do that I'm out.

Last game of indoor soccer for a month and we smash these cheats 11 - 1.
Good shit.
Good shit.
Re: What really ticks you off? (1 year ago)
Second game of indoor soccer this week cancelled with the other team quitting. Would have been at the pub all arvo if I knew I wasn't playing. :/

You can label it as lazy game design, maybe it is, but taking risks is not something you want to do too often when you're spending so much time and money on developing a game.
^Could be different on PS3, but when I went online (360) a few months back there was no one online.

Unless there are key parts of the story they leave out you gotta play the roleplaying option. If you're a big ME fan you need both sides to the game to get the full experience.

I can't remember the level up system, and only discovered it right at the end of the demo.
Demo has kept me interested, it's probably a wait till its cheaper game.

The crystarium seemed a lot different and I didn't really understand it at all. I just pumped up Serah's Ravenger and Noel's Commando and somehow beat that boss after like 5 game overs
I had no idea what was going on in the crystarium really either so did the same as you. I only found it after 3 game overs!
The other thing I forgot about earlier. There's no way that's how the game will look in the final version, surely it was just 'toned down' so the download wasn't massive.

Now I only got maybe 10-15 hours into XIII and that was approx 18 months ago. The battle system seems to be the same, with the paradigms, the addition of switching characters will probably be useful, although I didn't use it.
I would say I like the battle system, but can probably only play for an hour or so, it's hard to just sit there and grind with it for whatever reason.

The final battle was pretty good, enjoyed having to be ready for attacks to switch to sentinel and then unload some quick ravager attacks.
Not sure about QTEs, think they could get a bit annoying.
The gem collecting puzzle was pretty good.

Does the demo give anything away about the story in XIII? I haven't finished it, but want to try this to see if I would want it and need to go on and finish the first.
Re: Mario Tennis 3DS (1 year ago)
I loved the GBA version with the RPG elements so if it's like that I'm in.

What does everyone recommend doing for cash, I'm heading to England n such soon for a month. I'm with Westpac and get flogged by their foreign transaction fees, I'm sure they would have a partner bank whose ATMs I could use, but is there a better way? I don't fancy taking a heap of cash.
Re: SUPERCOACH - PALGN league (1 year ago)
^ While that is a headache, it's nowhere near as bad as last year, especially being middle of the season you would have less rookies in your squad.

Nat Fyfe is one of the best overhead marks in the game, came from nowhere to average over 20 touches a game, and frequently hit the scoreboard. He's one of those X Factor mids like Martin is.

Another I haven't mentioned in regards to Carlton is Gibbs. He's been more than servicable in his time thus far but he just seems to threaten to take games by the scruff of the neck but hasn't yet. He's an atheltic specimen, excellent kick, brilliant vision and strong mark but he doesn't seem to make full use of them yet. Hoping for a breakout season this year and from the training reports I've heard he's well on track.
This is a hard season to predict, Hawthorn look to have the best all round team, IF they can stay fit, which has been issue since the GF success.
Geelong will be much the same, they hit form at the right time of the season, just as Collingwood lost that 5% in their game.
Collingwood with a new coach, I wouldn't expect much difference, just a few subtle changes to the gameplan, as Scott put in for the Cats.
St Kilda have recruited some speedy small to mid type fwd/mids, I would expect a more offensive game this year. Question marks on Riewoldt, was it a bad season or is he a bit passed it? Like his cousin he was injured so I'm not wiriting him off. Can Lenny Hayes come back from another ACL.
Freo I don't know about, Ross Lyon was very good, but then ran out of ides with St Kilda, you could argue there is more talent at Fremantle, but he has even less of a forward line to work with, so I wouldn't be surprised to see another defence first focus there.
Another team missed here, will WCE back up the form of last season and be a top 4 side again?

The fact that I can't watch the Sydney test (or any of the tests for that matter) in HD.
What the hell, Channel 9? You have a perfectly good HD channel sitting there doing nothing, and you even put the cricket on it for one glorious hour during the Melbourne test, yet you won't use it for the entire test match?
I can watch every single game of the T20 Big Bash in glorious HD, but I can't watch my national side play in HD? Hell, I was able to watch India and the West Indies play each other in HD, yet I can't watch Australia?
Man, the sooner Cricket Australia takes cricket broadcasting away from Channel 9, the better off we'll all be.

Re: Movies (Rules on First Page) (1 year ago)
Also saw Tintin, school had all the books, so I'd read most of them as a kid.
I don't go to the movies much, but I had to see this, it looked amazing the characters were just how I remembered them, good shit.

Every achievement I get nothing but coal... I have 9, kinda scared to cash them in. Don't want another discount coupon.
Re: Official NBA Discussion (1 year ago)
For those who don't have League Pass have a look at this. http://nbadimensions.net/forums/nba-forum/40131-dont-buy-league-pass.html
I already paid for the official thing, but for $7..
Seeing LAL and Dallas struggle early, gonna be an interesting season I think. Miami to dominate through the season with OKC and Chicago not far behind. Heaps of highlights from the Clippers, and with the tight schedule a lot of upsets you would think.
Champs: OKC
Runners Up: Chicago

Yeah my mate set a beacon on NBA 2k12, so when I loaded up the game it pops up saying xxxx wants friends to play this game.
ThunderCurls is just stuck with half his friends list jumping online and then being told they are now playing Skyrim.

Re: Worst game you bought this year? (1 year ago)
I'd say Kinect Sports Season 2. First game was wicked.. then this thing comes out... with Darts? seriously darts must be the dumbest 'sport' they could put in there. Baseball the motion detection ruins what could be fun, but was already done well on the Wii years ago.
Then there's tennis, which is a step backwards from table tennis on the first title.
American football and skiing are good, and then they go with golf, again, Wii Sports did it better and years ago.
Even for $35 I feel ripped off.
