Re: Pandoras Tower, Xenoblade & Last Story? (1 year ago)
Here's what I don't understand though. If they're going to the trouble or translating the games to English (along with all the other European languages), why not release the games in the USA too?
The two regions are fairly similar culturally, which basically wipes any possibility of the 'European english' translation offending Americans and I'm sure Americans can figure out what the game is trying to convey when they see 'mum' instead of 'mom' or equivalent. Furthermore, it's very simple to change to video modes that the game outputs to accomodate NTSC televisions (if needed at all given that basically all PAL games have a 480i60 option these days anyway).

Cardboard inserts for N64 games (1 year ago)
Hi guys,
With the Game Exchange's future hanging in the balance, I figured I'd ask here. I'm in need of about 10 of those cardboard inserts they used to put the N64 games in when you bought a game back in the day. Does anyone have any lying around or know where I can get some (preferably on the cheap!)?

personally, i'm spitting chips that i had them in my bag in the morning i saw this, then thought "What's the point? there's no way he'll just be wandering around signing games", when that's exactly what he did. i took them the next 2 days, but obviously he wasn't walking around with the great unwashed those days.

Thanks for sharing Island_Wolf. Absolutely loving that Final Fantasy XII Potion...

Hey thanks for the kudos! It's nice to see that you guys appreciate this stuff but I'd really like to see what interesting stuff you guys have so I can appreciate it with you.
Ultra rare gaming stuff you own (3 years ago)
OK I'll admit it, I created this thread to show off some of my own ultra rare gaming merchandise (^.^) but while I'm at it I'd be very interested in seeing what some of you guys have in your collection! Please limit your show and tell to ultra rare stuff only though, meaning unique, autographed or very limited (less than 500 made for example) edition items only. Also, all items must be accompanied by a photo and if you know how rare your item is, what it's worth, if it's for sale or the history/backstory behind it please let us know!
I guess I'll go ahead and get the ball rolling with my US Launch Team Xbox 360. This is extremely rare. The faceplate on it's own was given as a gift from Microsoft to select people involved with the launch, but the complete console, faceplate, green controller, HDD and HDD bays was only given to the actual team that made the Xbox 360. Nobody knows for sure how many of these complete launch team consoles exist, and there's never been one listed on Ebay to assist in putting a value to it but I think it's safe to say there aren't many around (perhaps less than 30? 40? 50?) and I wouldn't let it go for less than $2000. This item is not for sale...yet.
My next item is my mint, complete copy of Meteos personally autographed by Tetsuya Mizuguchi. It was signed at the GO3 game conference in Perth WA on the 31st of March, 2007. I was invited to attend the welcoming party for the guest speakers of the event and had it signed when I met Mizuguchi-san. It's tough to guage how rare this is. It's probably not the only signed copy of Meteos, but I'm certain it's the only one that was signed at GO3 because Mizuguchi-san was not signing games after his conference and only signed my game at the welcoming party. I'm guessing it's probably worth a few hundred dollars. This item is not for sale.
The next items on my list will make any Metal Gear Solid fan jealous. These are mint complete copies of Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence autographed by Hideo Kojima himself. Like Meteos, these were autographed at the welcoming party and were the only games Kojima-san signed at the event. I know for sure there are autographed copies of MGS4 floating around, but I've never seen the PAL versions of Twin Snakes, Substance and Subsistence autographed, much less all three of them together. Unsigned, these are very rare games already. Signed, I wouldn't let these go for less than $1000 and I'm sure there are people that would pay that much so I'll say they're worth $1000+. These are definitely not for sale
As if signed games by Hideo Kojima wasn't enough, I also had my Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 4 autographed by Quinton Flynn, the voice of Raiden. These games were signed at Supanova in Perth 2008. I know for sure there's at least one other copy of Metal Gear Solid 4 signed by Quinton Flynn, so mine is not unique, but it's definitely rare. The plan is to get it signed by Kojima-san at some point, but that could take some time. Until then, I wouldn't ever consider selling this item and I can't put a value on it because if I ever decided to sell it I would sell it alongside the other games.
Next up is my mint complete copy of Star Ocean: The Second Departure for PSP personally autographed by Spike Spencer, the voice of Claude. It was signed at Supanova in Perth last year (2009). I asked Spike how many copies of the game he's signed and he said mine was the first, so this items rarity is classed as unique (he also signed my Neon Genesis Evangelion laserdisc, which is already very rare as it is). If I had to put a value to it, I'd say a $200+. This item is not for sale.
Finally, I have here a signed, mint, complete copy of Star Wars Episode 1: Racer by Jake Lloyd. This item was signed by Jake at Supanova in Perth 2009. According to Jake, this is the first Episode 1 Racer game he's signed. If I was selling it, I'd value it at around $200-$300.

*Desperately* seeking help from NeoGAF forum member (3 years ago)
I know this is a really unusual request, but I am in of assistance in contacting somebody on the NeoGAF forums. Understandably, you can't contact somebody on the forums without registering however after registering you need to get approval from a moderator before you can send PM's to someone.
It's been 48 hrs since I registered and still no approval. I simply can't wait any longer. I desperately need to contact this person on the forums so I am asking if there is anyone here who has a NeoGAF account and if they can please relay my important message to the member on the forums for me.

Re: Red ring of death - i has it (3 years ago)
From what I've read around the place from reliable sources, the Jasper 360's still get the RRoD/E74 but the failure rate for the first year of operation is very low (0-3%). If it does happen though, Jaspers are definitely covered under the same warranty as the older machines.
Regarding fixing the RRoD, you're best bet is to reflow the solder on the board and change the thermal paste to Arctic Silver 5. If this works, please note that you've only bought yourself time and that this fix is only temporary. It is guaranteed that eventually your machine will RRoD again. Don't take my word on this, do your own research and you will discover that RRoD/E74 is an inherent problem to all pre-Jasper Xbox 360's and has to do with the solder used to attach the GPU BGA to the motherboard.
Having had the RRoD twice and E74 once on my own machines, I know first hand how much it sux to get the RRoD. I've known people that have literally thrown out of warranty Xbox 360's in the bin. If you are unable to reflow your board, don't do this! your console is still worth something to me. I buy broken Xbox 360's for parts. So basically it doesn't matter to me if they're out of warranty, modified or whatever. I'm based in Perth but will cover postage costs from other states. I usually buy the console, power brick/power cable and video cable, but if you're not going to buy another 360 I also buy hard drives and controllers.
Feel free to contact me if you have a broken machine you would like to sell.
