Another bullet hell game that I need to play. This one seems to have more invincibility frames though. Cheers Storm for posting that.
The reason for the stick is so you can comfortably move and shoot. You can do it without it using either the Gyroscope enabled or using Control Scheme C, but the stick really makes it more comfortable. Keep in mind that Revelations is faster than the other RE's, especially when playing Raid Mode (the game's multiplayer), so you might find it more difficult using classical tank and shoot gameplay.

Plus it gives you extra shoulder buttons that aren't the size of needles.

Downsides is the obvious "should of been implemented from the very beginning", an extra $23 to buy the thing outright in Aus, and it adds weight and size. Not portable at all.

MGS3DS and MH3D (and MH4) will definetely use the 2nd control stick to good use. From the demo I played of MGS, the game plays horribly without the 2nd stick, and I wouldn't be surprised if other new releases such as Kid Icarus make it nearly mandatory if you want a good experience.
RE:Rev is so good. I'm still playing even after reaching level 50 in Raid Mode. It's wonderful that Streetpass in this game works both by real life encounters, as well as playing online. The fact that Campaign and Raid Mode talk to each other to unlock and gift stuff is brilliant.
It's so satisfying to obliterate anything in your path once you unlock the best upgrades and legendary guns in Raid Mode.
This is what combat is like for me. Kite everyone until they are somewhat grouped together. Mark of Flame. Mark of Flame detonate. All dead.

Been doing this for 30 levels now. Now I just use Meteor.

And yeah, the music is one of the biggest annoyances of this game. There's like 8 tracks. I just turn it off and just play my own in the background.
Re: The Walking Dead (1 year ago)
Yes, up to issue 90. The TV series started close to the graphic novels in the first episode, then it took a strange tangent that I didn't agree upon.

Books are better.

Plus it has more fucking, more backstabbing and more removing of fingernails. Exactly what I'd expect from the collapse of society.
Re: The Walking Dead (1 year ago)
There's a second season already? Probably pass. With the direction that the writers took with the TV series, I doubt some of the more iconic scenes from the comic will make it onto the screen.

The **** and torture scene with Michonne is a prime example. This scene is brilliant because it just shows how more fucked up the "good humans" (aka Rick and co.) are in comparison to the cast that is classified as "bad".
Re: 3DS demos are go (1 year ago)
I thought it was good. I've never played MGS3 before and while it does have some framerate issues, the other "issues" aren't really issue to me because I have nothing to compare it to.

And the controls are fine with CCP. Just turn it on in the options.

I'm still smitten by Revelations though. Raid mode is brilliant.

EDIT: I did find something incredibly retarded. The 3D effect disables itself while aiming down the sights. So your eyes will have to constantly adjust while aiming in stealth. I know why they did it, but this will just make me play the game entirely without 3D.

I am terrified of Open Water/the beach. I haven't gone swimming in the deeper parts in years now. I can walk across the shore and get up to my knees but any deeper and I get anxious (and I already have some anxiety issues anyway). I will try to get in there one day though.

Also, I highly dislike sharks, and this is likely because I used to obsess over them and read/study about them for ages.
There's quite a few people here that don't like deep/open water. I grew up with Swimming and Surfing as my go to sports, but when it comes to any physical activities on land, I'm absolutely terrible at them.

Oh and if you live in Sydney (and general advice to anyone about Sydney Harbour), don't take a dunk in the harbour. Not only is it filthy, it's got quite a few sharks. See quite a few to and from work (I take the ferry to Manly), but not to worry! It also has dolphins!
Unfortunately, I'm sort of bored of the game already. The story isn't interesting and is not presented in a captivating way at all (having ginormous black borders while speech is active is not good in this day and age, was acceptable back 20 years ago).

The combat unfortunately is very God of War esque, so it's mindless button mashing for most part. It's still very easy, even on the hardest difficulty. I've invested in just Blacksmithing and Sagecrafting, and it suffers exactly the same problem as Skyrim; the crafting professions are just too good.

I can play it in very short bursts, but I'm not likely to finish it. I played WoW for 5 years and enough was enough. This game was basically WoW in single player format and I don't think I can stomach anymore of it.

They can?!? How? Just couch behind and shoot?

Being a mage rocks, my guy is teleporting around causing 5 things to explode into a fiery mess at one time, amazing.
It's as simple as that. Crouch and shoot. Obviously doesn't work for things like Mark of Flame, but direct damage stuff works fine. Of course, why bother when Mark of Flame is so incredibly OP atm for early game.
Just found out that spells can do sneak damage (100% criticals)!. One shotting things with maxed Storm Bolt.

I love this game.
Started playing it. First thing I noticed is the horrid horrid motion blur. I think the game looks better without all the post processing crap. Certainly lets the art style show through (although the colours are annoying me a little). Plugged in a PS3 controller instead of a mouse and keyboard, since it's obviously designed with a controller in mind.

Good game, but I'm currently still emitted by Resident Evil Relevations.
Dodging is simply timing. You can mash the up or down+b in hopes of a dodge, and it works about 60% of the time on normal oozes, but you should use the weak enemies as practice. Listen for the vocal cue of an enemy about to attack (usually a growl of some sort), and then press and hold up or down+b if you want to do a pivot dodge.

Finished it on hell difficulty, unlocked the unlimited Rocket Launcher. Working my way through Raid Mode. The online is fantastic. For some reason there is some slight lag when doing Raid mode solo, but when tag teaming it online, there isn't any. Plus achievements (missions) and extra weapons/weapon kits galore in Raid mode!

i just liked seeing what shiny things drop on the ground when Mephisto or Baal die.
I never want to see Mephisto ever again. So many farm runs...
The only game that has made me fall asleep is Final Fantasy 12. Because you didn't actually do anything in combat, due to the fact that you scripted the battles beforehand. =\

I used to hold up on the stick, take a nap and wake up to lots of slaughter and experience (or whatever the equivalent was, I didn't care. It was a bad game).
Yeah the Wii version of RE4 is brilliant. Has all of the PS2 versions extras with the GC's better graphics/sound/load times. (Load times on PS2 were horrid).

The tank and shoot gameplay is perfect for the Wii-remote. And yeah, the Rocket Launcher is always a one hit kill regardless of enemy. The thing I love most about it is that it has quite a bit of endgame and unlockable content. Extra weapons, costumes and whatnot for the main game, Ada's supporting campaign Separate Ways and then there's Mercenaries.

Too much fun. I'm playing RE: Revelations now, and it definitely feels much closer to RE4 (with a bit of RE1 and 2 injected).
I have such a polarised opinion on the circle pro pad. On one hand, it really gives RE: REV that extra bit of customisation needed to make the controls feel really nice. But the extra 2 buttons and the 2nd control slider should of been in the 3DS in the first place. No doubt the 2nd revision of the 3DS will probably contain it. (I wonder how 3DS Ambassadors will work with this).

Comfortable and not at the same time. The 3DS becomes unwieldy and the weight is heavier on the left hand, but the shape is ergonomic enough. Definetely not something you can fit in your pocket anymore. No snapping is necessary, you just slide it under the 3DS and it uses the infra-red sensor to do it's business.

As for the game itself, it's wonderful. I liked RE5 despite all it's shortcomings, but Rev plays much more like a combination of 1 and 4. Best of all, any companions that are with you can't die, don't use items, don't share ammo and are meatshields if you can get them in front. Although it defeats a lot of the tension from the game.

OMG i just found this

Gave me chillssss. Anyone who knows this gains my respect and MY AXE.
Wonderful cover of a brilliant title sequence from an equally brilliant book/TV series.

I'm so glad they kept as humanly close to the book as possible. Unlike another recent series which got completely destroyed.

I had such hopes for you The Walking Dead...
Luke is a knob. He starts off as one and finishes off as a lesser form of a wanker. The only reason I play the Tales series is so I can experiment with the battle system and form spastic combos and exploit broken skills.
Re: Gaming Bargains V2 (1 year ago)
Quite a few Greenmangaming Aussie Day specials. Picked up Saints Row 3 for $20. Champion site. Beats paying $80 on Steam...

I accidentally googled palgn instead of typing the address and this came up:

PALGN demise.

Random.
I have to thank the mods and PALGN staff for the professional way they handled the situation over the past year and a bit. Assuming the most important parts of this recount are true, I believe the PALGN community already knew what was happening, but I think they just wanted a staff member to confirm it in a very blunt fashion.

It is depressing that this site should degenerate into god knows what now. I absolutely adored the Easter Egg hunts that the site used to have and I still remember the big site overhaul and whatnot. I've traded a few times in the GE forum and it was an absolute godsend compared to eBay, Overclockers and over such sites.

A lot of the community don't have anywhere else to go in regards to Aus gaming news. Kotaku seems to be the premier site to go to (from talking to people currently in the games industry, studying at Qantm/AIE,etc) but the community is a little bit of a cesspool. However, the amount of content they post is wonderful. Ausgamers has been dead for a long time, and is primarly a PC site, full of elitist PC wingnuts.

Right now, the only threads generating any sort of discussion are the Funny Links/What Made you Smile/Angry. None of the other subcategories have anything worthwhile checking out because simply there isn't any users talking about such and such.

I love Sunbro.

I'm a terrible person. I was on the fence on getting this game, but Steam just announced that buying it gave you 3 hats for TF2.

Re: 3DS demos are go (1 year ago)
Downloaded and played. A nice fun, 10 min romp, although despite Nintendo finally embracing the whole online aspect of gaming, a demo that only has 30 plays? I know it's a non issue, especially since the 3DS isn't really promoted as a console to be shared around, but it still strikes me as a little strange.

As for the game, it's pretty enough, the controls work well and offer your standard customisable settings (although I'd rather reload using A instead of herb spam). Plugged in my headphones and the sound is great. Standard RE4 onwards fare, but the 3D effect adds virtually nothing to the game. The standard settings are so weak, you're better off leaving the slider down and saving some battery, and changing the depth settings makes it so bloody strong, it becomes even worse than Pilotwings.

I'll definitely get it as I was curious about the game. Props to Nintendo for finally releasing demos. Now whether to order online for a cheap price (and get it 2 weeks to a month late) or just buy it from a store. Strange yet again, the PAL releases are earlier than the US.
I couldn't even read past 10 or so of the twitter comments on herpderpwiki. So many blaming the president, not even bother reading why the website blackouts happened even when sites provide direct links to the issues, blaming gay people, etc.

...It really hurts my head when I see some people talk/post. I'm sure there are quite a few trolls, but even then...

Natural selection, work faster.
I just make my character in Dark Souls look like Link and pretend it's a Zelda game.
This game is the console version of Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks.

FILTH.

All the equipment has been seen in past Zelda's except for the Beetle, the bow is obtained as the 2nd last item (so your stuck with the shitty slingshot if you want to roleplay archer Link) and copy pasting the game design from the DS games (including directly lifting the tablets from Spirit Tracks...).

At least the 5th boss (which is that cyclops tentacle thing) was an interesting fight. And he looks like one of the cast from Monsters Inc.
Wikipedia has gone on strike for 24 hours to raise awareness about shitty US laws. While I support their claims, I've lost my favorite source of random trivia and facts.

*firstworldproblems*
Pfft, I farm about ~200 per day while at work. Place the 3DS in my pocket, start shaking my leg (usually do this while I'm working anyways), gather 10 coins, reset the day to yesterday then set it back to today. Repeat.

BECAUSE I NEED HATS.

How much customisation are you able to do to your character? I want to play a gun mage but I'm unsure if I'm going to **** gimp myself for not using staffs and wands with him?
The game is easy, even on the hardest difficulty level (I had to download a mod where they multiplied the amount of enemies on screen by about 500 to keep in line with how OP the 3 characters are, so you can do whatever you want.

Besides, if you're an alchemist, once you get the Cyclops Beam of Death, you can just steamroll through things whenever you can't be bothered donkey punching something.
