Looks like they have just started and still have a long way to go with Persona 5.
Haaah, I can't read. /o\

Totally surprised by the fighting game, gotta say.
I've seen a mockup of a fighting game from the SMT universe, so stuff like Demi-Fiend, MC from Strange Journey, which would make for an interesting idea, at the least, but a P4 fighting game? Wat.
News, NEWS!

Atlus Announces Persona 4 Vita, Persona 4 Fighter, and Teases Persona 5
So essentially Persona 4 Portable, and... a fighting game? Uh, Okay then.

Apparently Persona 5 is mostly done, using the Catherine engine as we all suspected.
Just like the white winged dove, sings a song, sounds like she's singing.Oooh, baby, ooh, oooh...

Yeah, I love these radio stations.
I can't believe I skipped most of GTA3's for the in built MP3 player though. Stupid youth. /o\

Yeah, I'm already having trouble with the "butt-tongue" monster...
What.

What.
So, playing SMT: Devil Summoner 2 - Raidou Kuzunoha vs King Abaddon.
Mudo in this game takes away half your HP, and doesn't seem to miss all that often.
Sure, it's no insta-death, but still.
Someone needs to be slapped for making Mudo/Hama the dickest move that ever dicked.

Well, that's not true. Was it Asura in Strange Journey that had that move that Rage move?
All my hate.
I don't know where to put this! /o\
Eurogamer's Yakuza: Of the End review.
Was sceptical about the shooting from the get go, but it's nice to see that the Yakuza series gets a memorable send-off.

I finished SMT: Nocturne for the first time on hard mode the other week.
Respect, yo.
Really? I actually prefer the class levelling-structure from VC and Tactics Ogre. I very gladly take the balance of removing the possibilities for uber characters for not punishing you if you don't use certain characters.
I'd just feel like if I ever got to a stage where I needed Engineers or Lancers, but they were woefully underlevelled, I'd probably be a bit pissed at the game for not giving me any reason for me to level them up in the missions before.
And goddamn credit grinding.
*shakes fist*
Haa, I actually slept on this, but I bet I've forgotten something.

SMB 3: Pretty much the only game on the NES we had, and although the parents were really strict on playtime, I didn't even care that all I was (motsly) doing was replaying the first world each and every time. I knew it like the back of my hand. And really, the first video game we had.

Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6: SNES RPGs. Brilliant.

Pokemon: The craaaaaaaaze that started it all. I guess it did start off (in my mind) as a fun, monster catching game, but as I played more and more iterations of it, it dawned on me that it was a very deep RPG, and I guess that's why I'm still playing Pokemon Black.

Deus Ex: Like, duh.

KotOR: This was actually a toss up between this and Jedi Outcast. Outcast was the first Star Wars games I actually played, and by golly, it was a good one. But KotOR was pretty much a pinnacle in Star Wars licensed games for me. Plus, it introduced me to Bioware.

Mafia: Again, another toss-up. This or GTA: VC. Kind of similar, but not really. VC was damned fun. And the loud Hawaiian shirts, the colour, the characters, and the period music, brilliant. But Mafia was the first sandbox-y game with such an impactful story. That and the setting, and having to pull over for speeding, that's what made it memorable for me.

Persona 3: My first SMT game, and a damned great one too. P4 was more polished, but this game just had more impact on me.

Advance Wars: Dual Strike: Maaaaaaaaad fun.
I feel like they missed an opportunity by not including a body pillow.

So I'm still stuck on the chap 11 boss in FF 13.

I decided to back track alllll the way back to the open field.

Now I will train till I max EVERYONE out. I dont care if it takes months.
Haha, blimey man, that is a long time.
A good place to grind on Gran Pulse is right near the Ch 11 'exit'. There's a King Behemoth and another big thing (one of the giant versions of those dog/skag creatures) fighting, and when you go into battle, so always get the initiative. The King Behemoth usually goes down in one Stagger, but you have to be fast about it, or else it does that thing where it stands up and regens all health.
Oh man, I was all excite because the screenshots actually have Space, Shift, E and LMB icons rather than a hand, leg, or sword icon I could never remember what key was mapped to, but tis a shame it still controls pretty eh with keyboard and mouse.

Great review! I was pretty indifferent when it came out on consoles last year, but maybe I might pick this up now.
Re: Pokemon B&W (2 years ago)
Eheheh.
I've just been spending this long weekend breeding!
Re: Yakuza 4 (2 years ago)
Yeah, kind of got murky at the end, huh.
As I understand it (spoilers ahead):
Saejima: Kido thought to use the 100 billion to shoehorn his way into the higher ranks of the Tojo Clan.
Kiryu: I'm not sure if it was Daigo lacking strong leadership, or if the Tojo clan really had grown too big for its own good (maybe both?), but he sought to use it to restructure the clan.
Akiyama: Well understanding that Arai was an undercover cop from the beginning, and Akiyama being content that he had judged Arai correctly from the first time he met him, it would seem that Arai truly did want to change Kamurocho for the better. Not that I know anything about Japan and its crime culture, but Munnakata's reasoning that the Police and Yakuza were two sides of the same coin in regards to law enforcement sounded pretty convincing. Maybe Arai truly believed this, but just grew discontent with Munnakata's corrupt nature. Munnakata says that his plan to work with the Yakuza still needed money, thought its never explicitly stated what for. More restructuring? Bribes? Maybe political reform?

Oh also, more manly moments:
Kiryu's 2v1 fight.
When Tanimura tries to get him in an arm lock, but you're furiously mashing X or whatever to resist it, succeed and then just throw him and Akiyama off? MANLY
Re: Yakuza 4 (2 years ago)
How manly was that entire last chapter?
I mean, from the moment when the 4 of them were walking down the street dressed in black (MANLY) to the manly man on man fights at the end.
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan.
Re: Pokemon B&W (2 years ago)
Okay, I haven't played de Pokemons for a few weeks now (!!!), and I think I'm getting my second wind at it.
How do I register for all this Dream World stuff?
I went to Pokemon.com and poked around there, but then I found the Pokemon Global Link site, which then directed me to Pokemon.com.
So I guess I create an account there (Does US or UK region matter, or is it just the language?), and how do I link this up to my game?
I just don't want to go around registering on a bunch of sites without actually knowing if they're relevant to what I want.
Re: Yakuza 4 (2 years ago)
Goddamn, Kazuma's Chapter 3 boss fight, so manly.
I love how most of his sidequests are all nostalgia trips too. Helping Kotaru get a job was pretty great. Although it's good to see they haven't lost their sense of quirkiness in all this srs business. "Be SPICY and lend a hand!"

Re: Yakuza 4 Review (2 years ago)
I fluffing hate Chase sequences so much.
Also, all the opened up/new areas you can enter; I literally got stuck in Akiyama's chapter because I didn't know where Theatre Underground was, and when I realised it was behind the coin lockers on Taihei, an area previously closed off in the last game, my mind was blown. The Underground and Rooftops feel a little empty to me, but it does help Kamurocho feel more like a city.

Thoroughly engaged in this right now. So good.
Only notable thing is Pleinair as a recruitable character, I think? It does suffer a bit from being on DS due to the hardware limitations as Ad said, but, well, the gameplay is all intact, so personally, eh.

Has anyone got the Akiyama Award trophy? If so, any tips to raise money? I am not a big fan of gambling, don't want to blow all my Yen on games I don't understand icon_razz.gif.
I played a game of Pachinko about an hour ago.
WHAT THE **** IS THIS
icon_razz.gif
In Y3, I always used to save before gambling, go to Roulette and slap down the maximum bet on 1/3rd of the board. Pretty much the least effort to gamble with, even if it did take alot of saving and loading. Trade chips in for a Gold Plate, and you have monies.
I'm just progressing through the game as normal; I notice that the amount of punks who give you money after a fight is greatly reduced. They're mostly giving me Tauriners or other crap, but I'm just hoping it's because all the characters are just like 'early game' sort of things where you're not supposed to have great amounts of money, so they're preventing you from getting 30,000 yen after battle rewards. I'm hoping.
Yakuza 4 talk: finally came today in the underwhelming steelbook case... looks stylish, but feels cheap. Made me a little sad.
I was going to start it, but then I started playing Shogun 2. Two very engrossing games. Should I start it anyway? I do like punching people in the face! Just concerned that if I did play both of them, I'd just get maaaad Japanese overload.

Also, I am just so tired of long final boss boss battles. 24 hours into Radiant Historia, beat the pre-final boss, hit the final boss, defeated its first stage, defeated its second stage, and once his health regenerated for his third stage, I just gave up. It's not that it was hard, it was just going to be looooong. I had already spent at least 25 minutes on it, and really did not feel like doing it again.
Now Dragon Age 2, that was a boss battle I could dig. I pasted the final boss so easily, but it was exciting and hectic and fast and furious.
[/rant]
Advance Wars. Days of Ruin/Dark whateveritwasblandlycalled for the most balanced and strategic TBS, Dual Strike for just being mad fun.
And I know SMT was mentioned, but more specifically SMT: Devil Survivor! Personally, a very absorbing SRPG.
I didn't use them!
Well, I used them for their personal quests, but apart from that, I rocked a team of Varric and 2 mages, whilst I was the Tank. I pumped most of my points into Strength and Constitution, so I didn't have great attack speed anyway. The other 3 were my damage dealers, I was just there to use Taunt and then stand there and look pretty.
I guess It also helped that I stumbled upon the Bioware topic about it before I had gotten Isabella, so I was pretty cautious from then on.
But yeah, the fact that it's still not fixed? That's just bloody horrible support.

TO felt to me like one of those games that is so good that it would be fun for people who usually didn't like the genre.
Har, well they're not mutually exclusive, but to be honest, I'd probably disagree with UWSguy.
It's very SRPG heavy, and I'd imagine if you didn't like the genre, you'd probably go for something more accessible like, I dunno, Luminous Arc because that's a pretty basic SRPG, with grid based movement, items/equipment, spells/skills and levels (also boobs).
If I had to pick from your list (I've played/got Pokemon, DA2, Radiant Historia, Tactics Ogre) it would probably be the last priority. I do like TO and SRPGs, but I just don't get the same enjoyment out of it like I would Pokemon.

Speaking of DA2. Finished it. Enjoyed it. Flawed, yes, but in my opinion, not terminally so. I'm sure there's been enough debate about this swirling around the internets, so I'll just leave it at that.

I don't want to sound too sadistic (lol) but the things you do in that game just make me laugh, especially cracking a bike on someone's head. Not to mention the last boss is epic! I am very excited for 4
Man, yeah! I really like the bike. That has really got to be my favourite random street pick-up item.
I think it's the satisfaction of seeing how it get destroyed over time depending on how much you use it. From entire bike to bike sans back wheel, to the frame completely disintegrating, ending up to only having the front wheel, which you can then even smush the spokes over a dude's head in a Heat Action.
Bins and traffic cones and signs just kind of disappear after a few hits, but man, that bike, huh?
... I hope I don't sound too psychotic either, talking about how I enjoy beating people up with bikes.
About Tactics Ogre, basically, if you loved FF Tactics War of The Lions, you'll love this. Battle system is more or less the same, and the story is very politics heavy, which I usually find pretty interesting. Gameplay may not be particularly innovative, but it is incredibly solid.
Faction intricacies are quite detailed, and spoilers aside, while it is quite logical as to how they implement it, it can really screw you up later, in relation to recruiting and story.
Most battles aren't too hard (challenging usually, but not super hard), but there are some mad frustrating moments. Highlights include taking down a boss character right on the opposite side of the map who has infinite reinforcements, and NPCs you need/want to save going in like Rambo before your healer can get anywhere near.
Incredibly solid, polished SRPG.

Also, still no Yakuza 4 for me. I hate you so much Australia Post.

Re: Play-Asia Coupons (2 years ago)
OMG, 26th March expiry, too.
CE-MIT-VGE
GO GO GO AGAIN!
I think this is a similar sort of thing:
When your character gets slowass because all of Isabella's passive speed up buffs are removed from your character.
Instructions are on the last page, but basically if you get a save editor (gff4editor) and reset all the buffs and stuff, it should fix it up.
Poor form from Bioware though, didn't seem to be fixed in the 1.01 patch.

Edit: Oh, hurrr, you're playing the 360 version. Well. Hm. Nevermind!
Which yeah, you'll be doing a lot.

Anyway Kyle play Radiant Historia, and if possible make opposite decisions to what I'm making and let me know how it goes. I feel like I'm going to waste a lot of time in this game making an incorrect decision then having to travel 2 or so gameplay hours back in time to make the right choice =P
testing if this forum has a spoiler tag
Not really spoilery, but I guess it does impact how you would treat each decision: Choice is only an illusion, unfortunately. The storyline is essentially a two-pronged fork, going between the Standard History and Alternate History. (I forget which is which, but basically whether you stick with Heiss or join up with Rosch). You go between them advancing each timeline seperately, because in one timeline you'll reach a point where you dip into the other timeline to learn a skill or get an item you require for the first timeline. All other decisions are either cosmetic or are essentially a insta-Game Over, describing the effects of your decision, how you failed/the world was destroyed, and it'll boot you back to the White Chronicle. So, even though there are two major paths, there's only one way you can travel.
If this gets you down, don't worry. I find the story engaging enough that I don't even really care that I have no real freedom.

Oh, also, welcome back Kyle. icon_smile.gif
