Sounds great I'll definitely buy them.

Used to dust off the old PS2 every now and then to play the likes of GTA, Manhunt and Jackass- though I really haven't been bothered in quite a while.

A bit of coarse language...

Am happy enough with a present-day San Andreas... it's GTA, 'nuff said.

Though it looks like retro is a thing of the past, which sucks. I'd love to see a current-gen console GTA game set in the 70's or 80's. Vice City was brilliant, I'd love to see them have another crack at something so bold in this day and age. Would be mind-blowing.

I held off on commenting on this review as I wanted to finish the game for myself. Now that I have I think that this game has been severely overhyped and overated and this review is typical of many that I am reading. There is no way that this is a perfect 10, yes it is a good game but there are a number of huge issues that must be overlooked to give it a perfect score.
I agree with the overhyped and overrated sentiment. Loved the hell out of Arkham Asylum and quickly played through the story mode multiple times. The linear style suited the game better. I was totally unprepared and unexpecting of the awesomeness that was Arkham Asylum, so maybe that weighed heavily as to why I loved it so much.

I was underwhelmed with Arkham City, there were a few great moments in there but mainly I had to keep urging myself to play it. Finding your way to the next mission was really annoying at times and having finished the story mode, I have little to no interest in going back and doing it again.
Wow, The Third genuinely looks chaotic!
The R18+ rating can't come quickly enough, I am so sick of this happening...
Re: L.A. Noire (2 years ago)
Just tried JB again, no luck. Available tomorrow.

I checked EB Brunswick at lunchtime and it wasn't for sale. Will check again when I get out of class.

EDIT: Neither EB nor JB in the city broke the date.
I called JB, EB and Big W at around 4:30 and all of them were saying it's available tomorrow.
^ And $78 at JB.

Thursday can't come quickly enough...
Re: L.A. Noire (2 years ago)
So is the release date likely to be broken on this puppy?

Has anyone had an trouble with freezes? the game has froze on me 3 of the maybe 6 times I've played it, on 360.
Happened to me a couple of times as well, both times when using the sub so now I just don't bother with it. Might have just been coincidence but it hasn't frozen on me since giving up on subbing players.

I'm annoyed at the home gear and away gear being the same with a lot of teams when they actually wear white shorts in away games. Kind of pety I know, but I want to be able to play as Melbourne in white shorts and their home jumper after watching a game where they were wearing just that. Just comes across as lazy when a team's home gear is exactly the same as their away gear when it's obviously not the case.
Re: AFL Live (2 years ago)
From what I've heard the release has been broken all over WA, hopefully that stems through to Victoria tomorrow. I've already pre-ordered with EB so I don't have the luxury of phoning around but I'll more than likely give that store a few calls tomorrow.
I stand corrected.

I will go with Undisputed 2010 then, getting 4 guys from the Ultimate Fighter (mainly for Nelson and Schaub) along with Pulver, Severn and Gracie. Not sure the latter 3 were to do with the pre-order, might have been a PS3 exclusive, but still great straight-off-the-bat DLC.
The champion mode was great but seemed too short with little replay value, immensely enjoyed it though and hope Fight Night keep building on this mode in future titles. The career mode seems practically the same as last year and gets fairly repetitive fairly quickly, wish the simming of other fights up to your training dates would happen a lot quicker too.

The roster is superb, with a few surprise inclusions (i.e Butterbean and Hayemaker) but I think the biggest problem with this series is the continual absence of Floyd Mayweather Jnr. It's a massive hole in the roster as he is arguably the most successful boxer in the last 10-15 years (he is 41-0 with 25 knockouts). Replaying his fights with De La Hoya, Hatton, Judah and Mosley would be huge, along with being able to make the dream-bout with Pacquiao finally happen.

Also wondering if anyone knows how to really make an opponent bleed? Like on the loading screen with Pacman/Cotto? I can only ever really swell the opponent's face but always seem to knock them out before they start bleeding good and proper. Getting a little worried that maybe the OFLC might have enforced some unwanted input prior to the release...
Saints Row 2. The basketball jersey was awesome, I used to wear it all the time - until it disappeared...

Expecting "decent", which will do.
Exactly. Current lists is the biggest selling point for mine, a whole hell of a late has changed in footy since AFL Premiership 2007.

April can't come quickly enough...
It looks beyond awesome, a lot more complex than I was expecting.

Will be interesting to see how differently the story varies between being a good or bad cop, especially with the career progression stuff.

If only they could generate the sales to create a bigger budget AFL game. The sad fact is that they won't sell enough copies in Australia for an Aussie rules game to have the budget of an EA sports or 2K sports title, and therefore when we compare them, they'll never be as good. I'm most likely going to buy this, because we still need to support the franchise if we ever want a decent AFL game again, but until our national sport gains a large international following, we will never have another awesome AFL game.
I was under the impression it's a financial play on the AFL's behalf. They stand to make more money and get a bigger slice of the take by using the little local companies as they have a lot better bargaining power. They would stand to make a lot less money (per unit) going with a company like EA or 2K sports and that's probably the furthest they look into the matter. No consideration for the potential growth of the product and maybe tapping international markets if a high-quality game is produced by a larger globally known company.

As for the trailer, very underwhelming but I'm just glad to see something! Whoever is handling the PR work is pre-occupied or horrible at their job, practically no updates and no officially released images in the 4 years of production - only to release this trailer within weeks of the release.

All of that aside, I really can't wait for this game to come out. This is probably the most I have ever anticipated a game's release and am badly craving the current player lists. I had to give up on AFL Premiership 2007 over a year ago because I couldn't squeeze a current starting 22 out of my team's list anymore and playing against teams where the players are long out of the game is a bit of a kill-joy too.

No expectations on the quality of this title because I'll play the hell out of it anyway!
Could be alright, would have to go all out with the special effects and action sequences though. John Leguizamo would be my pick for Rico.
EA Sports MMA?

Dammit I want the AFL 2010 game in 2010, cmon!
I hear ya. But unfortunately it's now AFL 2011. Official statement from the BigAnt website:

"AFL Release Timing Announced

AFL on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii will be released in the first half of 2011. We are working hard to ensure we deliver the best and most up to date AFL experience possible on console and we thank you for your continued support and patience.

It is possible that the Nintendo Wii version, which is being developed by Wicked Witch Software , may come out slightly earlier."

I am very much under the impression that BigAnt needs to be replaced pronto. Atleast with a company like EA it wouldn't take 4 years to make a game that should be (and was being) made annually.
Played and loved L4D2, so much so I'm after the original. Does anyone know if the original or the game-of-the-year edition of Left 4 Dead in Australia is censored?
The location matters very little to me, it's all about the personnel and as far as I'm concerned, Rockstar don't disappoint. Wherever they choose, they'll make it work.

Edit: Someone posted this in the topic on the playstation forum.

Great find, thanks heaps for the link.

And September sounds very good! icon_biggrin.gif
The pictures of Manny look brutal, appears to be a big step up from FNR4. Hopefully in regard to roster they focus a bit more on champions of current day boxing as opposed to those of the past, would love to see Danny Green make his first Fight Night appearance also.
Had a look at the Big Ant website and there is an update of:

"AFL!

Now that we have released info on Rugby League Live, expect news on the upcoming Australian Football League game for the Xbox360, Playstation3, and PC here soon!"

There is no date of when this "update" occurred and no time-frame of when to expect the "news". The only date on there is the release date of Rugby League Live on the 2nd of September. This is the only official comment from Big Ant on the AFL game since initially announcing the project in 2008. Does that mean this game has been on the shelf or does it genuinely take this long to make? And why on earth has League been getting priority over AFL?

I am happy to hear that an AFL game is allegedly still being made but this hugely vague update on the Big Ant website leads me to believe it wont be released this year. Otherwise the long awaited official update from Big Ant, years in the making, would be more comprehensive than a single sentence.
Apparently can't buy the games on Amazon, does anyone know if the UK versions are censored?
Re: Wii price drop (3 years ago)
I'll wait for it to get under $200 at the least and even then, it would have to be an appealing bundle.
Re: Saw Review (3 years ago)
I like the "Manhunt" aspects of killing the minions with a fair selection of weapons and the atmosphere/lighting is very well done. But the puzzles seem to be the weak part continually killing the flow of this game.
That should just about be the final nail in the coffin, how much further does this thing have to go?
