Re: Starcraft 2 (3 years ago)
Most games are around 10-25 mins on average. My longest game was around 45 minutes but that's because my opponent turtles like crazy and I can't control units to save my life.

I never played COH online but played DOW1 online. SC2 is more macro intensive, i.e. resource gathering, unit building, constructing building intensive. I find DOW1 to be more micro intensive. So they are slightly different. In SC2, micro is very valuable but macro is more important. If you are good at multitasking, you will do fine.

Your opponents in the placement matches are throwing games, then they get placed in the lower tiers and proceed to win game after game.
Yeah I am aware some people doing that but the people I played really tried to stay alive and fight back but their effort was just not good enough. If they really want to lose, they won't go and try to hide command centre, rush battle cruisers, fast expand or some really weird ideas that look doable on paper but they lack the means to do it.

I think there is a large influx of new players, which reduced the quality of the placement match significantly.

They said I can't play online? (or will I be able to because I actually have an account?)
You need a beta key to play online.

I have played it quite a bit and it is heaps fun. My placement matches opponents are a joke. They can barely play RTS.

So I get placed in platinum and gets hammered hard in my first few games by people who can actually play. Right now I am still in platinum league but need to learn to macro and control units better to survive.
Re: Is my PC Dead? (3 years ago)
Wow that screen display looked like my old PC. It had the same screen artifacts just like yours. Basically the GPU was fried, replacing it fixed the problem.
Re: Starcraft 2 (3 years ago)
The single player campaign will be split into 3 games, one for each race. The first one will be the Terran campaign.

^ Is this just for EBgames or for every other store as well? I've only seen the EBgames newsletter announce this so far.
It's on GAME as well: http://www.game.com.au/stores/starcraft2
Re: Starcraft 2 (3 years ago)
The beta key is not only for limited edition. It is also available for people who preorders the standard edition.
If you are a pirate and the application/game/movie/music/whatever you downloaded suddenly asks for your personal information, why would you ever fill in the form with accurate data?
Yeah, FF is very good. That launch thing really looks like Tekken's launch. Except it is far more deadly. 1 launch = gg

Not sure where kucing has been lately though.
I've been playing Heavy Rain and StarCraft 2 Beta. Will probably go back to Tekken very soon.
While looking for Lars video, I found this gem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5n7z1MXHnfo

It's like watching at myself playing, this dude plays Lars as bad as I do.

Anyway, thanks to Zero, now I know why good players don't do Lars's ss2, d+1+2. Also 2,1,3 is horribly punishable but most players don't do the punishment, making me sticking to use that crap move.
Yeah b4 deals good damage on counter but if blocked then doh!

I am still having massive problem playing as 2nd player though. Always worse with that position (as if I can get worse icon_razz.gif). It's almost all of fighting games only allow 1st player position for single player game. So I tend to miss juggles and screw up even the most minor things when playing as 2nd player. But since loser goes there I tend to get stuck in there, haha.
@dloiscute
Yeah, I keep spamming u/f+3 and u/f+4 since they seemed to be the most effective way to take out a lot of lives. I tried other pokes but the seem to be a bit problematic. For example d/b+1,3 has very low dmg, d/f+2 is hard to time with the opponent's attacks, ff+4,3 is slow, b+4 has short range and a bit slow, and b+3 has long range but bad on block. The only good ones that I know are b+1 (very good but a bit slow), d/b+2,1 and b+1+2 (evasive).

I also find u/f+3 to be a good whiff punisher vs some chars. Since I don't know what the proper whiff punisher for Lars, I keep using that. Hence the spam.
@myzz
Good on you for sticking with Lili. Now I need practice on vsing her with Lars.

Yeah, he's damn good. Love it!
@ZeroX03
d/b+4 is +5 on hit according to: http://sdtekken.com/tekken-6/lars-frame-data/

Is that frame data up-to-date?

Also I noticed your throw breaker was weaker yesterday. Usually I couldn't throw you at all.

@myzz

No wonder you are very good already. If this is your first time touching Tekken game and getting to that level, then wow!

The reason I kept grabbing was because I don't really know what to do as Lars vs Lili. So I just keep doing it again and again. That cartwheel thingy and sweep killed me.

I have a mic too but usually don't use it.

@spikey

Congrats! I'll add you when I am on. Trash me as much as you can if we play, I love getting owned.
GG myzz and ZeroX03.

I really need to copy ZeroX03's Lars, man that's so crazy fast I can't even see what's happening. And then bam!, stuck in wall and almost dead.

Is this your first Tekken game myzz? Your Lili is very good. I have no idea what to do since that cart-wheel thingy always catches Lars's U/F+3 and U/F+4. Maybe it is time to learn his other moves. icon_redface.gif
Thanks guys, although I think I still need massive work in that area.

Will try to add you tonight, myzz.
I found this for $31 pre-owned in EBGames (cheaper if you have EDGE card). It seems that the gameplay is very similar to SF4 from a noob point of view (I am KOF newbie and completely hopeless in SF so apologies).

Quite fun but I find Tekken's move execution is much easier than this game. For $31 or less, it's a good pick up for a fighting game enthusiast.
How do you guys learn about spacing? I am really hopeless at it and whiffed far too many attacks. Sometimes when I do some moves (e.g. u/f+4) the opponent just do a small back dash and I missed completely. Doh! Is it just through experience?

@ spike - i fixed green bars now - forwarded xbox live through my new router, also did PSN while i was there. so i should be okay now -

I played vs infaded00 on a ranked game ran smooth lol
What is your PSN account? Is it also "myzz"?

i was just on psn on my mates ps3 on tekken, u might have vs him his name is: zinGwalker or something like that, his a ling player.
I think I played him yesterday. I joined a room that has him and another dude in it and he just made both of us like a punching bag.
myzz: Why not check EBay? It seems a few of them went for $40-50. Brand new one from HK is $57 there.
myzz: Why not try post WTB in the game exchange forum? I think for second hand it can go cheaper than the JB price.

Also you should not be worries about playing those 2 guys. It's actually better to play them than to play lesser skilled people. Sure, they kick your behind when you make mistakes but that's good since you will start learning not to make those mistakes (hopefully).

Hahahahhahah, that's the joys of King's.

Man my 1P side Kazuya sucked so much. 2P side ways a lot better though icon_cool.gif

While your Lars is getting better, I still like versing your Drag more. You seem to have more moves in more situations with him.
I know more with Drag since I have been using him quite a while. Then I started getting seious with Lars around last weekend. And I spent most of the time to learn some easy combos. Before playing with you and gamesta, I actually played with another random person (and getting pwned) and he said the same, my Lars is boring and the Drag is more fun.

ZeroX03 wrote
It's actually WS1~f. You don't have to switch sides to juggle with it, you can do.

...

As for Lars' crouch dash, no he does not have one. But he DOES have a sort of wavedash, which is done by inputting, f+3(DE)~d/f repeatedly. Very good for mind games and it looks hella cool.
Hmmm I didn't know that. WS1~f is more flashy though but I'll try them, thanks.

For uf+3, I found uf+3, FC2, 2,1 B! is much easier to do, and probably just slightly less damaging so I'll go with it. The timing for u/f+3 WS2 f,b+2,1 B! is just too hard for me, especially online.

For post bound, I always use d/f+3, 3 since it's super easy - any monkey can do it. It's probably around 5-6 less damage but if it means I can do it with 90% success rate compared to 30% success rate of the other one, then it is worth it. However I really need to learn wall carry and the wall game for uber damage. Thanks for that!

Everytime I tried f+3 (vs AI or human), I always get hit out of it. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Too slow or too close? I was trying to do f+3, 1+2, which is a juggle starter for some decent dmg. Then again, I'll try this "wave dash" tomorrow, whatever it is. icon_biggrin.gif
Ah yeah those are crazy.

But the one that makes me go wtf is the air grab. That's just out of this world. It's like saying, hey you are screwed, but what the heck, now I am going to make it even worse. icon_lol.gif
GG gamesta and dloiscute. Although the connection bar says 3, it's actually pretty good vs both of you guys.

Those King and AK throws and crazy attack with red and yellow lights are just deadly. I need practice my sidesteps. icon_sad.gif

And yes, Lars's uf+3 is crazy. It's seems to be hard to punish, especially in online game. I actually find Lars to be easier to use than Dragunov. Lars is stylish and quite fast while Dragunov is more unwieldy but hits almost like a truck.
ZeroX03 wrote
u/f+3 is a godly attack. Crushes lows, highs and some mids, and evades HEAPS of things because during startup frames he goes into FC. So it's an awesome panic move. Best thing is, the punishment for it is VERY weird, you must punish the EXACT moment he falls to the ground, otherwise it wont work. Kekekeke. Lars is seriously the king of mids. b+1, d/f+2(Juggle on CH, safe) f,f+1+2(Juggle on CH, safe), SS2(Free stomp, safe), b+2,1, etc etc etc. If you need any Lars tips, gimme a shout!

P.S-We owned TekkenDolphin LOL
That's nice to know. I actually prefers uf+4 combo since uf+4, df+1, db+2,1, fb+2,1, df+3,3 is an easy 69 damage combo. uf+3 timing when Lars landed and crouched is a bit tough. I wonder how bad it will be online.

Lars really has some nice move. b+1 is so good, it makes Feng's b+1 look like utter crap. It's mid, tracks, decent one hit damage and has good range. Oh my! I haven't really tried the rest of the moves so not to sure about them. But like dloiscute said, ducking vs Lars seems like suicide unless you really know that he is going for the high.

Some of the juggles make my head spin though. For example FC1~f is hard because you will switch side. fb+2, 1's direction button is now reversed. Speaking of fb+2,1, wow, what a hard to pull bind move. Expecially with switching side juggle starter (FC1~f and ff+2~f). I guess a lot of practice is needed.

I noticed that Lars doesn't have crouch dash, is this true? Also it seems he moves forward a bit faster than most of the other chars, is this also true?

TekkenDolphin always manages to crack me up. At first I thought he is a megalomaniac but since he doesn't go on and challenge everyone, I think he is aware that he is no good but does not want to admit it. Not sure why since he has no dignity left anyway.
Tekken on PS3 is not laggy if you are versing anyone in Aus. I have been playing with ZeroX03 a bit and he can parry my low attacks quite a few times so it's definitely not laggy (and I am getting too predictable).

Unfortunately there are not that many Australian players there. In peak time, at most 3 open game room in player match.

Playing with Japanese players will net you orange 2 bar. Playable but not as nice since it messes some timings.

A Tekken 6 question to resident gurus. I have been playing around with Lars and wow he has so many mids! Is he the char with most mid attacks in T6 BR?

Anyway, which juggle starters is better for Lars, UF+3 and UF+4? Both of them seems to low crush, UF+3 is 16 frames but -21 frames on block (ouch) while UF+4 is 25 frames but safe on block with -9 frames. I have seen a few vids in youtube and it seems UF+3 is more popular. Is it because it is much faster?
I played more CPU battles and yes it's definitely more difficult than it used to be. The best thing is they closed some of the loop holes (e.g. previously it is far too easy to hit juggle starters vs them). However the AI now seems to love to duck and do low attacks. So low crush attacks becomes much more effective. Too bad Dragunov only has 1 low crush attack. icon_sad.gif They also have problems with some mid attack combos, which is a shame.

The worst part is the AI is a horrible punisher. I have played sloppily and it often does nothing when I made punishable attacks. An example is Dragunov's 1,2,1. The last 1 is -12 frames on block but when I get blocked, the AI does nothing. Against ZeroX03, everytime I do that, I get my behind handed back to me. This non-punishability does not discourage sloppy play, which is very bad.

So the AI is kind of a weird player since it is very good in some aspects while in other basic areas it is extremely lacking.

Generic d+1_d+2 is your friend. A lot of Hwoarang's FLA stuff kills sidesteppers though there are some moves which can be SSed and punished.
Thanks, that reminded me. I did try to do those moves when I was panicked and it worked. However if I mess up the spacing and timing, I get the kicks. So it needs a lot more practice.

dloiscute wrote
Baraa's favorite d33/43 mixups require you to learn when they go low, thus open for parry. However with other pokes he has, if you time it right you can reverse them (with characters like King). And finally you can just randomly duck them, then launch away.
Cool. I might need to spend some time with Hwoarang to get to know some of his moves.
