Bottom line, that's why its region locked! Coz Ninty know people would want to pay this and would import.
The region lock isn't for making Australian gamers pay more, it's to protect local retailers and publishers set the price not "Nintendo".
I really liked manuals back in the NES and even PS1 days, but they are at a point where they are just bland and boring. They use to contain character design, interesting parts of the story and overall something nifty to read. I see nothing wrong with removing manuals, considering how horrible they are these days(exception to some collectors editions).

If it's legal to own RC'd material in your state can you still get fined for importing it?
You can get fined either three times the cost of the item, or $110000, whichever is greater.
Actually "110000" is only for tier 1 offenders, which are people who import more then 25 copies:

"Australian Customs Notice - ACN 2009/55
Customs Regulations 1926

Summary:
The criteria for determining objectionable goods are consistent with the RC (Refused Classification) criteria in the National Classification Code and the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Act 1995.

Tier 1 offences currently attract penalties of up to $110,000 in fines and/or five years imprisonment.

Tier 1 penalties apply to categories of objectionable material defined in the Customs Regulations 1926 as either:
i) The import or export of 25 items or more; or
ii) Goods imported for the purpose of:
(a) selling the good;
(b) letting the good for hire;
(c) by way of trade, offering or exposing the good for sale or hire;
(d) distributing the good for the purpose of trade; or
(e) exhibiting or displaying the good in public."
I orderd the tourney edition from an online store(NZ), I'll let you know how the importing goes....
Best not to list the stores that sell them in-case they receive emails about it. Just use the old google.

Does this mean that basically every game that would currently be rated MA15+ would be given an R18+ rating instead, and anything that went beyond what the current MA15 rating is would get banned? Or would the scope for games that are allowed be increased? Either way it's better than the current situation, and this development is definitely good news.
From what I remember they said it would only apply to new games being entered, not going back and reviewing all games(except maybe if the company appealed?).
Re: Play-Asia Coupons (2 years ago)
Since Mortal Kombat was RC'd I need to pay extra to get it with the fighting stick because of the postage. Anyone have any coupons for something that costs 180?

Thanks!

Its easy to see why this game is popular. Its fun, but way frustrating. SSFIV only for me. Sent is way more powerful than Sagat in vanilla SFIV.
"Actually, Sentinel was meant to be just another character, but that all changed when Vanilla Sagat broke into the developer's office and demanded to pilot it."

Yeah I've been clean for about a year now too, but I did install it all again yesterday and start this trial... stuff's far too different though, I didn't know where the hell I was in Orgrimmar. And now I apparently need to pull thousands of gold out my arse to pay for **** I "need". I was expecting Cataclysm to bring me back, but I think it's just driven me further away.
If you start again i guarantee it will bring you back, they went back and streamlined all the quests so they have better story content and are better thought out and placed including mini games such as throwing bombs from bats etc. I always found WoW hard to get back into after not playing for months unless you started a new character.

I've never even heard of the original game and I don't like real time strategy

I wish Valve would start making things I like again (not including Portal 2 upcoming!)
It's not really RTS which is why they created the new genre of MOBA.

I am quite excited for this but i do think it could spell the end of HoN considering it was attempting to do the same thing and i do think valve/icefrog will come up with a better and more polished game. LoL might take a small loss but it does have quite a few game changing mechanics and art style to differentiate from Dota.

Overall i look forward to seeing some screenshots of the new Dota and the art style they will be taking.
This one is selling pretty quickly, they sold old already at Westfield Kotara (NSW) KMART and at the one at Waratah Village (NSW as well) 4 were purchased the 10-20 minutes I was there, and it's only been out a day or so. The buyers seem to be mothers with younger children from what I’ve seen.

Just wanna jump in here and say how much I love having actual game stores EB/Game/Gametraders etc. Back in the day waaay back in the early 90s I used to bus foir 2-03 HOURS from Pottsville to Brisbane (3 connecting buses) just to hunt for games at the few toy/game stores up there in Myer center that IMPORTED.

We had no game stores. Just Toy World, some dodgy mail order places and that was that. Now, EB and GAME are GREAT to walk in to and check out/browse and grab a mag, talk some crap and check out the specials. Its a LUXURY compared to importing magazines, games and crap waiting for MONTHS etc.

I am all for pricematching, but, unless I am time constrained at work I AWLAYS support the game stores over bigw, jb and kmart. If those retail giants undercut EBs cost, and keep doing so, we will lose our game stores I love so much.

I hardly import anymore thanks to EB/Game. I love checking out the game stores. Support this or it will be gone/replaced by supermarkets!
I agree with a lot you have to say but it's just the lying that annoys me when they could be frank with you. It's so easy to tell they are lying and it makes the conversation more awkward when you know it. I would prefer them to say this is the lowest we can go because that amount is way too low, now that i could understand. I know they are a business but the customer service in my situation was crappy and very arrogant.

Well my friend likes to get things from their in case he doesn't like the game with the 7 day return. It's kinda like free rental icon_razz.gif
Tell your friend that because of him more people get a 'new' game at full price that he 'rented'.
Why would i? I said he likes to get it from EB since it means he can take it back if he doesn't like it and get his money back so i then made the comment it's kinda like free rental. It's EB's policy and if you don't like it take it up with them?

Well i know they can refuse but they don't have to lie and make up rumors about competition.
Hello, me and my friend visited EB to have a game price matched from Game's current sale and the employees at EB would not match it because they claimed Game was liquidizing all stock since the company is closing and that apparently this EB store said they were offered the position of the Game store in the same shopping center. So we then headed up to Game and told them what EB had said which they denied and told us that EB had done it before to try and get out of price matching from Game. I was also curious if anyone else had been told something similar?

The PC version for BF BC2 is no doubt the best of the 3 platforms, unlike COD MW2 the PC is the worst of the 3.
I don't see how, the game is pretty much the same expect with mouse and keyboard is it just because we are use to a server browser that the console versions don't have that the PC because the worse version of MW2?

Fair point THEMAN. If you could hook your PC up to a big ass tellie then that makes sense.
Most new tv's can be hooked up to the PC, just depends on the graphic cards outputs, but then again there are always adapters.....
Was wondering why this years fighting champion isn't here? King of fighters!

^AvP uses dedicated servers on PC, therefore eliminating the possibility of decent pinged servers for us as the game is RC'd in Australia. Private and LAN matches might work but it won't last.
For all your know the two versions could be compatible and one just have more violence then the other on that version? It's hard to jump to this conclusions now but i can't stand knowingly having violence cut out and will still be tunneling....

ARGH, that is infuriating, because that essentially means that if you import, there won't be Australian servers to play on online.
Not true about the Aus servers, i play L4D2 and there is plenty of matchmaking with Aus that have imported the solution to actually play other then protesting is to import if all Australians that want to play import and yes it is easy to tunnel steam or even order from play-asia for example then we can still play this but it is so BS ATKINSON!!!!!
Better with sonic and knuckles attached to it icon_razz.gif
People will winge even more if they are banned without warning icon_razz.gif
I was about to post this lol, i hope more are aware, put it on PALGN news someone!!

That is true, you notice the lag especially at end or round kills, i see what your getting at.
Ill agree, i prefer dedicated servers but since its the same server technology for console as PC, then that's just being biased, i could then judge all console games that they should implement dedicated servers and of course they could, run multiple ones around the country from servers such as GA and the match making program which check dedicated and p2p for the best connection or even complaining about all console systems since they can't implement server browsing but its not about that.

The connection system is the same, game play and multi-player technology, so i don't see how it is fair to say the console version is a great purchase where the actually multi-player experience will be the same expect with proper fps equipment MOUSE AND KEYBOARD.
