Damn got beaten to it. Why the hell didn't he step down before the election, he was Labors most toxic asset?

All this bagging out of G4C is pretty pathetic, at least there getting out there trying to do something and make Australia a better place rather than just whining on the internet.
G4C got 3.7% of the primary vote in the seat of croydon which isn't a bad result. They got more votes than Family first and the democrats. They never had any chance of picking up a lower house seat but at least they got the issue out there more.
But yeah I think they should change there name and approach a bit more for the next election. Maybe changing their name to the anti censorship party or something like that would give them a more broader appeal and focusing on other censorship and civil rights issues.

Anyway... The polls may be slightly ahead for the liberals but centrebet has Labor at $1.44 and liberals at over $2 with the late money backing Labor. Strangely enough the betting agencies tend to be far more accurate at picking the winners than any of the pollsters.
I forgot to change my enrolment details when I moved from SA to vic last year so I ended up having to cast a vote in the SA elections. If it wasn't for atkinson and ranns tough on crime/drugs/civil rights then i'd be happy to vote for labor, they have a much better team than the current lot of SA liberals. I ended up voting for the greens and numbering all the boxes so my preferences wouldn't go to labor.

More censorship madness with the SA government passing a law that requires anyone making comments about the election on the internet to state their full name and postcode, this includes any comments made on internet forums, twitter, comments on news sites, facebook etc etc.

If the MySchools website is anything to go by the rollout of the internet filter my be a pretty bumpy ride and alot of aussies who couldn't care less about the filter now certainly will when Australias internet grinds to a halt and they can't get on facebook or to check the cricket/footy scores
Re: Internet filter? Who said "Yes, please"? (3 years ago)
labor doesn't hold the balance of power in the senate so it will take abit of wangling to get it through. Considering how unpopular it is I can't see any of the other parties or independents supporting it without some pretty heavy consolations. There will also probably be an election this year so they’ll either want to get it through way before the election or let the issue die down for several months before the election to avoid backlash.
Re: Internet filter? Who said "Yes, please"? (3 years ago)
The EFA is running a petition that will be submitted to parliament to oppose internet censorship in Australia. To sign the petition goto http://www.efa.org.au/epetition/ and put in your full name and post code. You can select a check box so that your name does not appear on the website if you wish to remain anonymous.
If your against the filter then get your friends to sign as well, the Australian Christian Lobby had 20,000 signatures in support of a filter which was one of Labors justifications to push forward with the legislation.

While it is certainly possible to substitute a significant percentage of our power to renewable energy, it isn't even remotely feasable to have 100% renewable energy with current or near future technology.
The organisers which are spreading misleading information like this is not only irresponsible, but potential harmful to those companies/researchers who are promoting renewable energy.

If you have thought of taking action on climate change, now is the time. Drought, bush fires, floods and rising seas are already hitting hard. It's an emergency and we need emergency action.
In December 2009, governments of the world will meet in Copenhagen to create a new global climate agreement. Australia must support, not stop, strong global action.
We can tackle the recession and climate change together. Direct investment in renewable energy will create jobs, stimulate the economy and begin to create the carbon-free economy of the future.
100% renewable energy by 2020
Australia must make the shift from fossil fuels to 100% renewable energy from wind, solar and other available technologies.
Green collar jobs not job cuts
We can renew our economy by creating hundreds of thousands of 'green jobs' and supporting workers to make a fair and just transition to sustainable industries.
A strong international agreement with climate justice for all
Australia must take the lead in global climate talks, not undermine them with an ineffective 5%-15% target. Globally, we must to those who are most affected by climate change and least responsible for it.
Don't pass the Carbon Pollution law
We need climate policies that make the big polluters pay and not allow big companies to go on polluting. The CPRS won't reduce Australia's greenhouse pollution.
Protect Australia's Forests
Logging and clearing vegetation are major contributors to climate change as forests and woodlands are important carbon stores.

A MOTHER of three accused of murdering her husband by setting his genitals alight allegedly told neighbours she was a "jealous wife" who had learned he was having an affair, a court heard today.
Rajini Narayan, 44, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court where she faced an upgraded charge of murder after her husband, Satish Narayan, died on December 27 from his injuries after being burned in his home.
Crown prosecutor Lucy Boord, opposing a bail application by Mrs Narayan, told the court it was alleged Mrs Narayan doused her husband's genitals with petrol as he slept in their Unley home and set him alight about 5.30am on December 7.
Mr Narayan, his wife and their three children fled the fire, which spread to the rest of the home, damaged a neighbouring property and caused about $1 million damage.
Ms Boord said it was alleged that Mrs Narayan was heard outside the house saying that her husband loved another woman and was having an affair.
It was alleged Mrs Narayan said: "His penis should belong to me. I wanted to burn his penis so it didn't belong to anyone else.''
She is also alleged to have said "it was just his penis I wanted to burn'' and that she did not mean for "anything like this'' to happen.
Mr Narayan suffered burns to 85 per cent of his body and died in the Royal Adelaide Hospital 20 days after being set alight.
Mrs Narayan was originally charged with aggravated causing serious harm to her husband, arson and three counts of aggravated endangering life.
The aggravated causing serious harm charge was upgraded to murder after Mr Narayan died.
It is understood the Narayan family had only arrived in Adelaide several months ago from Canberra after Mr Narayan secured a job on the Air Warfare Destroyer project.
Mrs Narayan, who appeared in the dock with her back to the public gallery during the short bail hearing, has yet to enter a plea to the charges.
Her bail application was adjourned until Friday so a psychiatrist could prepare a report on Mrs Narayan’s mental state since being charged with murder.

Your girlfriend must have a lot of jewellery to warrant having a dedicated online store.. understand that you're likely to get far less exposure than if you go through eBay or the Trading Post etc.
Anyway, for running a web-based shopping system, an easy recommendation is osCommerce which is brain dead simple to get running (PM me if you need any help).
Not sure about hosting (I've only mucked around with self-hosting) but look for something that supports PHP and gives you a few MySQL databases so you can run osCommerce.

Career advice (4 years ago)
So i've just finished a University IT degree and have been looking for jobs over the last couple of months and am looking for some career advice
I've had a couple of interviews at IT firms for graduate intake positions, but the thing is that these jobs sound very intense with the focus seemingly being on creating business solutions, working with partner firms etc. I have talked to some people who started doing the graduate intakes and both said they work 50+ hour weeks and their job has pretty much become their life which is great for them because they really love the work and are learning heaps.
But the thing is that I am also an artist/musician and I want to be in the situation where I have enough time that I can work on these things but still have a fulltime/part time job that doesn't leave me totally mentally exhausted and stressed out when I clock off.
So basically I am thinking that something like IT support would probably be my best option even though the pay would be considerably less than what I could earn as a software developer it seems like it would suit my lifestyle.
So I guess I'm looking for advice from people who work in this area or any other advice on job seeking etc. Every job i've found requires at least 6 months experience in the field so i'm looking into getting work experience somewhere but not sure what the best approach is?

''Now I'm on borrowed time I can afford to live dangerously,'' she said after attending the first in a series of workshops teaching people how to circumvent a proposed law restricting access to some internet sites, expected to include some on euthanasia.
Websites associated with Exit International and its suicide manual, the Peaceful Pill Handbook, are expected to be refused classification and therefore to be inaccessible from Australian computers once a mandatory internet filter is in place.
Ms Lazemby has nursed four elderly people to death and is determined she will not end up in a nursing home. If the time comes, she says she may want information about how to end her life. ''I'm not going to let that happen to me,'' she said.
While some of the 47 people attending the Chatswood workshop - which is not illegal but is expected to become so when the legislation comes into force - are still taking elementary computer lessons, others learnt in only a few minutes how to access any website through a proxy server to bypass the filter's firewall.
''It's not to do with Exit. The issue is wider,'' said Ken, one of the participants. He objected to the uncontrolled list of restricted sites. ''I see it [the Australian Communications and Media Authority which will administer the filter] as George Orwell's Ministry of Truth.''
Michael, who said he regularly downloaded information from Exit's website, said he attended to learn how to bypass the internet filter, so he could still access the site later.
The Exit International founder, Philip Nitschke, said after the ''hacking'' lesson that Exit would investigate if it could set up its own proxy server or VPN tunnel, so its members had a safe way of accessing its information.
Bettina O'Meara, 83, a mother of a mentally ill child, said she had noticed something was wrong with the system. She had seen what happened to sick elderly people in hospitals and nursing homes and was determined she did not want it to happen to her.
''I don't set out to do anything illegal but I firmly believe that all senior adults if they have severe illnesses have the right anyway to choose how they end their lives,'' she said.
Judith, from Potts Point, is still learning how to use her new computer. But with a ''prognosis of losing my memory'', she is determined to find a way to take ''a little pill'' when she finds she can no longer handle it.
''I don't want to be alive when I'm just a body.
