I observed that this site is dead and I can't find any information on what is happening with it.

Is it being revived, or was the forum reset the big plan?
Re: The Welcome Thread (7 months ago)
You have your glass metaphor around the wrong way. PalGN was once full, and now the glass isn't as full as it was, therefore it is half (more than half) empty.
Hey gaiz, let's quash one of the only active forum posts on the whole site because there is already a topic from 1 year ago.

If you want to see incompetent, I love the place, but check out the Australian Namco Bandai forums (formerly Atari, formerly Gamenation etc). The signup for the forums there has been broken since 2006. If the server they're using in some cobweb-ridden basement somewhere decides to die, it takes a facebook message for anyone to realise and boot it back up.
Don't care.

It wasn't management incompetence that lead us here, it was a lack of communication between staff and management.
No.

How someone personifies themselves on a forum does not define them as a person. All different types make up an online community, including manager types that you usually don't hear much from. Doesn't mean they're not real people though, with families and interests and lives.
I'm still not convinced he isn't an absurdity spewing super drone.

When there is something interesting to announce, there'll probably be some kind of update on the front page.
What is this I don't even.
How about the fact that the site is currently undergoing major changes and will be transforming into a completely different site. Website visitors can even share fresh new ideas if they are inclined. Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of PALGN.

Furianshi, that is up there with the dumbest response I have ever heard to a perfectly reasonable query. I think you should actually consider what you are saying before you spill that absolute garbage onto the page.
The "other guy we don't really know" has shown himself to be incompetent on many occasions and has posted some material on this forum that I had/have a hard time believing it has come from an actual human it was that absurd.

One thing I find strange is that not a single piece of news or information about this new palgn or current state of the site has been posted onto the main page. How are potential readers or people that do not visit the forums going to know what is happening? All they will see is a deserted front page with no new news, no updates, and a whole lot of dead site.

I hate not being able to move my arms (Tied up, small spaces etc).

I love to swim and would everyday if I could, but I also have a fear of water, mainly inland bodies like rivers, lakes, ponds, canals (why the hell people want to live near them is a mystery to me).

Pumping things up.

That whole video is incredibly wrong.

There was a post here by Ramblerun a minute ago.

Dude, you called the image I posted "incredibly wrong"... whereas it's actually pretty much absolutely correct... and you started it... so... NYEH!

Anyway, **** this.

There was, it was in relation to ThunderCurls less than constructive input. My comment was also less than constructive so I deleted it.

Punk first in the 90's? Wrong.

This I believe is the original picture. Someone has updated it and changed the middle two and years around.

Oh hang on. Your problem is that it says ROCK and it's more a METAL thing?
no.

Wow.

So your entire argument is on the basis that someone did it somewhere once thus proving an entire cultural zeitgeist wrong?
Huh? I do not deny that fist clenching has it's place in the 90's, but not before it belongs in 70's rock culture. That I am 100% certain.

My original gripe was that there are styles missing and that they are in the wrong order. That's all. Just an observation I was making.

Rubbish
Punk started in the 1970's. Hence the resurgence in the 1990's. Nowhere can I find evidence that raising fists was a Thing in the 1970's. If anything, I'd expect to find it in the 1980's if I went looking in to the hardcore punk scene with Black Flag and the Dead Kennedys and the like.

Got some evidence anywhere to back up your claims?
I probably could find some but I'm not going to. But it is pretty clear to me that the style depicted there is meant to be punk of the 70's (it is shown in this year on variations to the image). I can find evidence however of fist clenching in the northern soul music culture of the 60's (not rock but still much earlier than 90's).
Re: Funny Links (1 year ago)
It's not a big issue really. People are putting up arguments and I am answering them.

1960's - Peace movement, lots of folky bands popular alongside harder acts like The Who and The Rolling Stones.

1980's - Heavy metal explosion pushed on by the new wave of British heavy metal and Bay area thrash. Horns helped brought to fore by Ronny James Dio, who started using them at live performances not long after joining Black Sabbath in 1979.

1990's - Resurgence of punk, sitting alongside the early 90's grunge movement and later post-grunge alternative scenes. Raised fists are so common that there's even a hardcore punk band named as such.

2012 - Everyone has cameras at a gig, and Ramblerun lacks a sense of humour.

Did I cover everything?
Generally yes.

I will point out though that you have resurgence of punk in the 90's. Punk started in the 70's which is where it should be. Putting that style in the 90's is so far wrong that I'm surprised people agree with it. There are other versions of this image going around that make more sense.

Again I wouldn't usually pick on things like this, and I did find it amusing.

I still feel the innacuracy needed to be pointed out.
Re: Funny Links (1 year ago)
I'm not avoiding anything. They are all wrong, especially the style they have under 90's which should really be 70's and that's where I would put new wave.

They are incredibly wrong in this particular picture.
Re: Funny Links (1 year ago)
hip hop isn't rock. And I have mentioned concern about the other two years, but not in as great detail. they are all wrong.
Re: Funny Links (1 year ago)
I wouldn't usually pick on things like that, but that particular image is incredibly wrong and deserved it.

Actually the 60's seems wrong (hippies rock?)
The Doors? Woodstock? What kind of music did you think that was?
I think you forgot to quote the rest of the sentence. Of course yours are good points, but the point I was trying to make was that the hippies were not the only style to be gracing rock concerts in the 60's.
Re: Funny Links (1 year ago)
80's and 90's seem the wrong way around.

EDIT: Actually the 60's seems wrong (hippies rock?) or at least missing some other styles, and the years are wrong for some aswell as being in the wrong order.
I for one welcome our new $poon overlord.
