Re: Gaming Bargains V2 (1 year ago)
Someone on ozbargain said Harvey Norman have 1500 ms points for $19, normally $25
Re: Gaming Bargains V2 (2 years ago)
The old DS games don't have region locking, but I've heard DSi games have some sort of region locking system.

I need some new rechargable battery packs for my 360 controllers and found this:
GAMEWare XB360 Dual Charge Dock (Xbox 360)
$6 + free delivery

Does anyone know if it includes batteries or is it just the stand? It's original price was $60, so it would have to include the battery packs wouldn't it??

It seems someone's mentioned it in the past as well:

So maybe it is a good deal...
I guess you can email game.com.au support. They've been pretty responsive when I've had to contact them.

Called up Game today to check in trade prices:
6-Jan-2011
Playstation Portable
$2 Marvel Ultimate Alliance
$9 God of War: Chains of Olympus
$7 Star Wars Force Unleashed 1
$2 FIFA 09
$4 Virtua Tennis
Not so great prices, but if I trade in 5 at the same time it's $30 extra
So in total, will be $24 + $30 = $54.
Might be worth it if it's only going to go for $10 each on ebay or something... hmmm...

Re: Gaming Bargains V2 (2 years ago)
I've purchased from them before. I ordered Mortal Kombat vs. DC for $27 from them, and a $20 Nitro Racing Wheel for Xbox 360 and they've both been delivered.
I had a problem with my Racing Wheel and they sent me another one, and got me to post the old one back. I thought that was pretty nice service, but that was around 2 years ago now, so hopefully their service is still as good.
They do deliver slower than other places, like I mentioned in my post, so take that into consideration.

Re: Gaming Bargains V2 (2 years ago)
Found a deal on www.alwaysonsale.com.au
Delivery might be a bit slow from them though, compared to other Aussie based shops.
http://www.alwaysonsale.com.au/aos/products/37964-xbox-360-genuine-live-1500-microsoft-points-cardau/
Starts at $23.
Use the code XMAS20 to bring it down to $3
Add $10 shipping to make it $13
Credit card charge is 1.5% making a total of $13.20 for 1500 MS Points.
I guess you can apply this to any other item on the site, but this one struck me as the best deal since MS Points are rarely discounted.
EDIT: I noticed it doesn't work with Nintendo points because it costs $14 and doesn't apply.
EDIT 2: sorry if some people are confused, I didn't write it out 100%
1. Add the xbox points to your cart for $23
2. Apply the XMAS20 coupon which subtracts $20
3. Checking out adds $10 shipping and $0.20 cc fee
4. Totals to $13.20 upon payment

I too am amazed with this tech.
The kids love it too.
I guess as with the casual gaming genre, it's probably good to read game reviews first, or use a demo to find which games are shovelware.

I'd imagine they'd have to have the sensor if you want to play the games that need the sensor?!
Quite silly not to honour it when the pictures in both bundles clearly have the sensor, and the website says the sensor is included.
I'll have to pop down to my local one to confirm it too.

I knew it seemed too good to be true. Someone high up has created the bundle without the proper knowledge of what comes with what and has either put the wrong items or the wrong price. lol! It's likely to be more than $100 below cost price for the advertised deal.
The sales dude I got probably didn't have the best knowledge in video games and the bundles, so he warned me that the deal only had the xbox and 2 games, that it was only Kinect "ready"
So I waited a bit while he talked to the manager, and the manager said that it would also be included. The confusion might be with the packs/bundles.
My understanding is that there is a Xbox 250Gb + Kinect Bundle with the 1 game. That goes for a certain price right.
And I'm sure there is another pack that is just for the 250Gb without the kinect and game, which is a lower price, which the sales staff get it mixed up with.

Pre-order deal at Harvey Norman
http://www.harveynorman.com.au/product/1256973313672/xbox--gb-kinect-bundle
$468 for all those above.
Not sure how much that is altogether, but if the 360 250Gb by itself is around $350-400 and Kinect is $180-200, this price point might be good.
Just don't dance naked in front of Dance Central. Apparently it takes intermittent pictures that is hard to delete...

Yeah, Jedi understood what I meant.
If you have one already that you've played out, trade it in. And if you find that you miss the game, get a cheaper one from overseas.

Was looking at Game.com.au's trade deals:
http://www.game.com.au/tradedeals
It says:
Trade fast and high! Bring in any of the games or accessories below and we'll give you $75 trade value towards any of the games above*
You could trade in your played Red Dead or Kane and Lynch 2, and get $75 trade in,
And then buy another copy of Red Dead or Kane and Lynch 2 for cheaper if you still want to play it. The last two posts above me mention both games are currently on sale for under the $75 trade in amount.

^ Well, I agree with you. But you don't need to wait. If you can finish a new game and then trade it in (best price + price match), you are only looking at around $30 difference. That's the model I follow anyway.
For me I believe this is better value than spending a $30 difference only to trade it in later, and be without the game in the end.
The downside is that I have to wait until new releases come down in price, which means they're not new releases anymore.
And the current Game sale has been awesome for me!

I noticed this at game-lane.com.au
http://www.game-lane.com.au/xbox-360-games/1634-fallout-3-game-add-on-pack-broken-steel-and-point-lookout-xbox-360.html
Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack: Broken Steel and Point Lookout (Xbox 360)
AU$ 14.95
Shipping is AU$ 4.50
So if you were to just get that, it would be AU$ 19.45
I thought these two DLC were the best of the lot.
They're 800MS points normally, each.
And getting the disc and pack means you can sell it again after you've finished, rather than the DLC just sitting there on my Hard Drive...

Since this is a gaming website I thought this was related:
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/26085
Buy 2 Solo variety drinks for $2 at Coles, and you get free undies with the words "Game On" on it.
Wear it while playing your favourite gaming console. If you're wearing nothing else over it, then that's your call...

Thanks for pointing it out. I can't see it on the flash splash that comes up on the first page on game.com.au
Either way, marketing deal or not, I got a great trade in value.
I got Mario Party DS for free in a bundle, and I got more value for Okami and FF13 than for the price I bought them for.

I have a feeling they scrapped the deal because it's not on the website anymore, and it wasn't in the catalogue (I couldn't spot a catalogue in the store or on the net).
But they had a flyer pointing out:
3 = extra $10
4 = extra $20
and buy:
2 pre-owned = $10 off
3 pre-owned = $20 off
Flyer dates were May 1 to May 31

Did a trade in at GAME today, hoping to take advantage of Final Fantasy at $58 but the value changed over the course of the week :-/
So all in all:
Final Fantasy 13 Xbox 360 - $42
Okami Wii - $37
Mario Party DS - $24
Splinter Cell Double Agent Xbox 360 - $5
But the kicker is that there is a deal in May, 4 trades = extra $20!
Total $128, so the $20 extra offset the drop in FF13

There was a 50% sale at The Good Guys at Taylors Lakes, VIC.
Final Fantasy was marked at $40 for X360 (there was another box at $50)
Mass Effect 2 X360 was $50
Bioshock X360 was $40
Pokemon Heartgold for DS was $35
There were a few other ones there too.
Not sure how much longer their sale was going on for.

Had a few issues at first as well, but now it feels like second nature to me.

3) turn on xbox
4) put in disc and start game
5) use the scene it remote to get to the bit where they are sitting in couches
6) then use the scene it sign in if you want to sign in 4 people at the same time. (there will be a 4 box split screen mode where you can select xbox profiles)
7) everyone clicks continue to start the game
8) listen to cheesy voice over man and answer the questions when needed
