Re: Mortal Kombat - kratos playable (2 years ago)
Having played the full game for quiet a bit after the demo, not much has changed.
The demo was fine anyway.
A simple summary of the game so far, this is the best MK since MK11.
Fun, fun fun...
Haven't started single player ladder, been practicing and doing the challenge tower to learn the game.
MK has always been seen as a casual fighting game, but Midway clearly trying to change this to a more serious fighter.
Input window forgiving compared to SF, but still requires good timing.
Faster paced fighting, animations in combos not as fluid as SF but still a whole lot of satisfaction in chaining long combos.
This game is a must buy even for SF fans who never liked this series.
Any non-MK fans who wont like this game should never play another MK game. This game is dope..
Will be alternating between SSFIV and this.
MK is a winner! Midway did awesome work with this.

Re: Sony speaks out about PlayStation Network problems (2 years ago)
Sony gave us the walkman.
Sony gave us the CD.
Sony gave us true HD.
We are talking about a company who have been pioneers of many significant electronic products of yesteryear and today.
They are the real mccoys of the industry.
They messed up, they are rectifying this as best as they can.
What more you want them to do at this time?
I am not happy at whats happened, but mistakes happen.
I mean The US Defense, White House, Gawker, and many other big companies have been hacked before.

Re: Sony speaks out about PlayStation Network problems (2 years ago)
This was the week my hatred for hackers went up a notch.
I certainly hope - PS3 users at least- more folks can stop seeing them as rebels who represent the little guy against the big co-operations and other internet oligarchs.
These folks are low life scum who instead of using their intelligence for good causes use it for the wrong reasons. Sad really, a waste of intelligence.
Anger - anger - anger has been the reaction from so many, understandable. I too have had my info swiped like the rest.
But this is the time to calm down.
Okay Sony could have handled things better but that's hindsight.
Threats of lawsuits, boycotts etc are not the right course of action
Sony can only learn from their mistake. Sure they will lose a few customers who will defect to Xbox, but this is not something a company that has been influential in the electronics industry over the years should be ruined by.

Re: PSN down? (2 years ago)
Debit cards rule. No money or enough for purchase then no transaction.
I never have more than 60 quid in my account enough for an import PS3 game so in the event of a fraudulent use thats how much i lose. lol
But now I see why Sony delayed to report the full extent of this.
Precisely this! The mass hysteria, panicking and backlash for the past day Sony have received on the net is now getting outta control
But seriously we need to calm down.
This is really bad for Sony and their reputation has taken an absolute battering. It will be hard to recover from this.
But lets not forget ultimately the real bad guys are hackers. Just as bad as thieves.

Re: PSN down? (2 years ago)
Fark Anonymous whether they are behind this latest outage or not.
This is farking ridiculous. I can't play my SSFIV the only game I have in my library because of this. Couldn't buy Portal 2 or OFP as I didn't have time.
Ever since these clowns first attacked PSN a few weeks back I now can't automatically sign in to PSN. Have to keep retrying till it signs in.
Noone cares about their agenda. Leave us alone to enjoy our games for farksake.

Re: Mortal Kombat - kratos playable (2 years ago)
This game is selling like hot cakes on Ebay. Dozens of copies have been sold already from the various eBay stores. Its crazy.
Its great as surely many of those are Aussies and so getting good matches should be a problem.
Even if the online is poor I remember putting many hours into last gen MKs single players.
Thats one area MK tops SF. Single player experience.

Re: Nintendo set to reveal new Console at E3 (2 years ago)
Hideki Konno (Top Ninty dev) - Iād be a little sad to see if there was a product that I worked on for a couple of years go on sale for a buck.
This is a memorable quote from a few weeks back as it shows the point of view of devs when it comes to game pricing. The top devs and publishers too need to recur their huge losses. The risks for AAA titles is much larger than an Indie title.
Yeah Reggie's comments -and Ninty's overall stance on them- about Indie games were a bit disappointing but there are two sides to the issue.
Both sides have a good point though.
We consumers want affordable games and more Indie games could potentially see drops in RRP of regular games and it would be great for smaller game companies to do well without the need for big publishers. Emphasis on 'could' because its hard pressed to see many shunning the traditional Mario/Zelda and other AAA titles for Indie games if they were available on the Virtual Console even if they are significantly cheaper. Most are usually on-the-go types of games you play for 20 minutes then turn off.
Personally I think Ninty are being overly cautious. Surely they can both co-exist? Don't see Indie games as such a real threat to the traditional games if they were on Virtual Console.

Re: Nintendo set to reveal new Console at E3 (2 years ago)
Ninty have been in the gaming industry for eternity now.
They know what they are doing! Thats why they have been successful all this time.
Ninty consoles have always been for families. They cater for all types of gamers equally. Hence one thing you can be almost assured of is affordability.
Its laughable when some complain about Wii power compared to 360/PS3 when Ninty's motion control was copied by its competitors. No Wii HD this gen. Ninty have never felt the need to bring in an HD console like their counterparts.
Ninty will most probably make their new console HD cable, but if its a deal breaker for you, then you really shouldn't be buy Ninty products for godsakes.
For Ninty its gameplay > graphics.
Its also hilarious when some call for Mario and Zelda series to be ended.
The highest and most critically acclaimed this gen are both Mario Galaxy games. Zelda PH and ST puzzles are some of the most innovative of this gen.
Ninty have always spaced out the main Mario and Zelda game releases in a way that allows for evolution of gameplay.

Re: Rumour: Wii successor set for E3 2011? (2 years ago)
Calm down folks already for godsakes.
Its only early and unconfirmed info at this time from third party. Obviosuly Ninty are working on a new console but only when they release the details then one can start drooling on the prospects.
Hard for companies to keep secrets with the internet age these days.
The Wii won this gen. No doubt. None expected this success especially after Sony's success last gen and motion control was unproven territory Ninty were heading into.
But Ninty (like Sebastien Vettel - hehe-) "do their own thing".
Ninty got owned in last gen. The GC was a good console even more powerful than PS2 but still lost resoundingly. Ninty arrogance has been blamed as a contributing factor, but thats another issue for another day.
This gen consoles hardware being almost 6 years old now, "more powerful than PS3/360" is hardly something to be excited about if you expecting more third party AAA titles.
Anyway regardless of what Ninty do, you know it will be awesome.

Re: [Confirmed] Tekken X SF/SF X Tekken (2 years ago)
I have amassed over 5k matches combined in the two SFIV games.
Almost all matches I have used Vega, Less than 200 times in total I have tried other characters, and its mainly because I use a controller.
Believe it or not, charge characters are much more user comfortable to use with a controller.
Plus I enjoy using Vega. I miss many moves with non charge characters with the controller.
Plus Vega has usually been ommitted from vs fighting seriees so no surprises if he isnt in sf v tekken.
And only character I am a fan of from tekken is Eddie.
So yeah my purchasing of this games hinges upon one or two characters.

Re: Street Fighter IV - console release info, etc (2 years ago)
No question last two gens were forgettable for fighting games.
Late 90s and 2000s till SFIV they were a niche market.
But didn't fighting games wane in popularity due to what CAPCOM are doing now with SFIV? Yearly updates? Isn't this were the irony is? CAPCOM popularised the genre with SF11 in the early 90s then milked released so many SFIIs it became a series on its on without even counting the Alphas and likes?
Fatigue gamers experienced by the late 90s?
Plus there were only a very few good fighting games in the last couple of gens, like MvC.
So are CAPCOM not in danger of repeating the same mistakes?
The best fighting game of the last two gens ironically hasn't been milked. Rival Schools, a gem that never had the popularity it deserved.
Anyway thats another issue.

Re: Street Fighter IV - console release info, etc (2 years ago)
Yes I understand if you don't like something or feel its a rip don't buy it.
I will not be getting the DLC nor the disc, as I feel the two SFIV I have bought are enough, but I am still disappointed in CAPCOM.
SSFIV is fine as it is and needed only free updates. This will plit the community for sure. I have never bought DLC and not going to get this. If many folks defect to AE edition and I cant get matches online as the community decreases then willl sell my SSFIV and that will be it for me.
I know MK as good as it looks, will not be as good as SF but that will be all I will be playing after AE is out.
With SFvTekken most likely not going to have Vega who I main in SF or Eddie I will most likely not get that either.
Really enjoyed SSFIV, the game I have played the most this gen but yearly updates are not right!

No Vega or Eddie no buy for me.
Re: Operation Flashpoint: Red River co-op video (2 years ago)
Definitely getting this despite DR not being great.
Its the only tactical shooter this gen on consoles.
Codies hopefully have ironed many of the bugs from DR and improved AI.

Re: PSP price drop in Australia (2 years ago)
PSP initially sold well when released despite its high price.
Sells later went down drastically later and that was largely due to software line up drying up.
Its only the last couple of years the PSP has taken off again and this is due to Sony focusing more on it.
Now it has a healthy software lineup for all types of gamers.
PSP has now sold over 60 million. That is remarkable considering thats its their first handheld and Ninty's dominance of the handheld market.
PSP overall has been a success. For NGP spreading out their software releases better than PSP would be one thing Sony can improve.

Re: Splinter Cell 3D Review (2 years ago)
Ubi becoming the new EA/Activision.
Sacrificing quality over quantity.
Ubi my fav devs last gen for their PoP and SC games. All time classics.
Can't comment on other series like Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six etc as I have never played them.,,,,but the Ubi games I have previously played have gone down in quality this gen.
Far Cry 2, beauty without substance. Conviction poor. PoP 2008 and Forgotten Sands not memorable. Only Creed is their only shining light this gen IMO.
Still they are very profitable due to their dancing games they are focusing more on this gen.

Re: Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition announced (2 years ago)
The key is not to split the community.
Thats all I am worried about. Don't buy a new COD and the previous one still has millions of gamers.
Not the same for fighting games with a much smaller fanbase. And lag being an issue means even smaller due to having to play folks in the same country.
Having bought two SFIV this gen and having to folks out for another feels like a rip off to me. Not keen on buying. SSFIV is still strong online. Doesn't need another addition.

Demon's Souls shall go down as a legendary game.
Not only because of its brilliance but also how it rose in popularity and eventual commercial success.
FromSoftware didn't even think they would sell more than 50k copies when they released it. Even publishers wouldn't touch it including SOny.
It was a game that was originally only planned for Japan and US release for small market and so few copies were made.
However positive reviews from US websites and other gaming forums led to word spreading about its awesomeness.
Soon Europeans started importing and US sales increasing. Eventually the game became scarce and FromSOftware made more copies. The rest is history.
The game has now sold almost a million copies without advertising whatsover. A remarkable number considering the devs didnt expect anywhere near 100k sales. That's the power of the internet.
With the sequel on 360 too, it will generate at least a million quickly this time since it has become popular.
If even young gamers of this gen who play COD (obviuosly the target audence for shooter ads) dont know BF by now, no amount of advertising can get them aboard.
Not saying dont advertise, but 100 mill is ridiculous (I know GTA and COD spent almost the same). Its over the top to spend so much. Gaming becoming too commercial.

Re: Nintendo 3DS General Discussion (2 years ago)
Once you get to play the 3DS for a while and get accustomed to it you release it's almost perfect design.
Overall it falls short of DS lite because of the D-pad.
Its not as great. Its a bit too stiff!
PSP D-pad is brilliant. If you played SF Alpha on PSP you realise how good it is. You can pull of 1/4, 1/2 and full circle moves effortlessly.
Luckily most games will only require the stylus so no biggy.
Overall 3DS is pretty good, just need more top games to be released.

Some folks definitely not going to pay.
So how will it work? A person without the DLC update and one with. How will they against each other?
Uhh!
So it gotta be free as it makes more sense?

Re: Splinter Cell Trilogy detailed (2 years ago)
Finally get to know which port will be used.
The PS2 version is really watered down 360 and PC version despite being still awesome.
Some routes in some levels were cut out.
A bonus would be if it came with Amon Tobin soundtrack CD from Chaos Theory. One of the best game soundtracks ever.
Definitely getting this.

So its free!
Cool. Coz no new characters I'm interested in.
Enhanced replay channel looks cool though.
Character tweaks, hopefully no more unpunishable cannon spike spamming.

Dead Space animated (which were poor) now this!
Sounds like EA pushing these things more than Bioware!
Stop milking this EA. Folks will get fatigue from too much ME.

Best gaming news of the week!
Sniper elite had a niche market. Don't really sell loads of copies but was a unique game. Slow and tactical.
What a welcome surprise its being revived.
