FYI it's $99 from EB Games today in their Mad Monday sale. I just ordered myself a copy. Is there much of a difference between the 360 and PS3 versions?

Anyone get the update for Play TV?

It now works perfect for all Australian channels. ABC HD now works, and all SBS channels now work too.

Looks like all those doubters were wrong, we got the exact same version as UK, and it picks up all HD Australian channels perfect now.

Told you guys. The hardware was always going to be the same.

Now that its Freeview certified though, they got rid of the 1 minute skip function (basically you hit it 3 times, and it skips the adds in most shows), it wont work under Australian settings. You also cant export your shows onto the XMB when its under Aussie settings (again, a Freeview requirement).

Looks like consumers are worse off under Freeview.
Hmmm...I'll have to check it out when I get home tonight. I will miss the 1 minute skip but haven't used the XMB export yet. Are the FFW speeds the same at least? The 120x will suffice for ad skipping.
Missed out this round too.

The Xbox 360 product team is looking for Xbox LIVE members from all regions around the globe to participate in this Preview Program.

Please fill out the Sign up Survey to be considered for the Preview program!

We are very excited to have you participate in the program; however, there are some important things to keep in mind:

We can only enroll participants from regions where Xbox LIVE is officially supported. Do not sign up unless Xbox LIVE is officially available and supported in your region.
Completing the Sign up Survey does not automatically enroll you in the Preview Program. To ensure a good cross section of LIVE members, we’ll review completed surveys and make our selections based on variables such as region and connection type.
Do not apply more than once. It will not increase your chances of being registered into the preview program.
To be considered for the program, you must complete the survey and provide your 12 digit Console ID. If your Console ID is not correct, you will not be chosen to participate.
To register, you will need your Gamertag and Xbox 360 Console ID.
If you do not know how to obtain your Console ID, please read this article.

WARNING: If you are approved for the Preview, and your console is updated, you will not be able to remove the Preview from your console.

Those whom have been accepted into the Preview Program will be contacted by email by July 31, 2009

Thank you and we look forward to your participation!
I have to wait until I get home from work as I don't know my console ID.

Sacktue of Liberty costume is available free for a limited time.

If you have been keeping up with LBP news, you most likely scored the lovely Summer Solstice Druid costume that was available for free till this week. If you missed out, not to worry, cause in celebration of Independence Day, our friends at Mm are paying tribute to Lady Liberty with one of the sweetest costumes to date- The Sacktue of Liberty. Since Liberty should be free for all, so is this costume, so grab it while you can! It's up now until July 9th so be sure to download this before you light your bottle rockets and start up the BBQ!

Scott, thanks for the post, UHF scanning will be fixed too.

The tuners are capable of HD but this is actually done in the software and we have no plans to change the hardware as you have said it works well on MPEG-2 (in the UK it is MPEG-2 at the moment) and we are perfecting it for MPEG-4.

Michael is correct but there may have been some information lost in translation, the work to ensure that HD works consistently well in all modes needs to be done for each country as broadcasters are different (even in the same country) so what he was inferring is that we will test HD in Australia and optimise it for there.

For example, one of the broadcasters use progressive playback and this is not done anywhere else so we need to make a change to ensure that PlayTV handles that correctly.

The stuttering that you get is also caused by the significant amounts of data carried by MPEG-2 HD (MPEG-4 HD carries less) so we need to get that to the HDD properly and we are in the process of testing the work we have done to reduce the stuttering.

Cheers

Mark

D4RhR4in, I have put more detail in the reply to Scott @176, so in summary for you the answer is we have no plans to change the hardware.

Good news for those wanting PlayTV.

HD model direct to AUS, no lame SD version.
October ish release date
Less than 200
The current one is HD. It's just the software that needs tweaking and scanning for other frequencies to get SBS and channels in other areas. You can use the device in windows and ABC HD and SBS work fine.

Less than 200...can I see 199.95? lol.

just one question i have been wondering for a while, connections, has it only got the 1 antenna input and no antenna output? plus the usb connection.
all the pictures i see shows the 1 antenna input and the usb, but i dont know if there is an output on the other side or something.
Yes, one antenna and one USB. So you'd need a splitter if using TV too unless your TV has RF out too.
Re: PlayTV (3 years ago)
Yup, mine arrived today. Will have a play tonight. So any questions fire away.

The issues I know of are - no SBS, ABC HD stutters when recorded, HD can stutter when recorded while using the PS3 for other tasks.

The stuttering won't be much of an issue to me, I'll just play the 360 if I happen to be recording HD at the time. I usually only would like to record when not at home anyway.

Edit: Oh yeah, it cost me ~$130AUD delivered from gamestation.co.uk. Took a week from when I placed the order.

Didn't think you could.
There's a game mode called Warmup Mode where you can just play the one band part. icon_wink.gif

This game is quite fun, it's all i've been playin on the PSP lately.
I've received a code from Sony too...but I'm away from home until Fri night icon_sad.gif
Re: HN has 160 gig PS3's (4 years ago)
It's not really a good deal. Do HN give you the 80GB HDD they take out? You can pick up a 120GB HDD for $65 or 320GB HDD for under $100 these days and DIY. You then have your original 80GB to use as a backup or to sell off go get some money back.

I don't want to make a new topic so I'm bumping an old one. I want to buy a top toy & 2gb micro sd from dealextreme for my coworker (for her son), and she wants it before Easter. Can someone tell me how long they take to ship & post? I also want to buy one for my brother but it's not as urgent.
Their shipping times have no pattern. I've had items arrive in a week and I've had others take over a month. It doesn't matter if it's in stock or not either. I've had items say that they're ready to ship and not ship for a while. When ever I buy from them I don't expect quick delivery, if it happens to be it's a nice suprise.

If you want guaranteed quick, buy local.
Re: HDMI Cable Rip Off (4 years ago)
I've used Oznetics and would use them again. Nicely built cables and nice price with free shipping too.
I'm gonna pick up some cheapies from EB and trade. Should get it for $26!
It really is a fun game. I couldn't put it down last night icon_smile.gif I ended up winning a house, but then forgot to save the game grrr. I like the "Dope Wars" integration. I remember playing that years ago!

I found an animated blue swirly thing in an alley near the auto trader. It kinda looks like a little tornado or a spawn pint or something. Anyone else seen it and know what it is?
I acquired it last night and had a bit of a play. I was never a fan of the 2d GTA's. I wasn't too sure that they could pull it off on the DS but they have. Top work Rockstar. I haven't won a house yet but have won a few grand and some fries icon_smile.gif Completed a few missions did some laps in the go-kart. The GF has a DS too so we may try out the multiplayer later.
Cool. I signed up with my Mario Kart Wii code that was luckily still in the box. I can't find my Wii Fit code though icon_sad.gif Damn them for not carrying over the database!

Re: 1080i or 720p? (4 years ago)
I have a cheap 1366x768 lcd tv. I've tried my xbox360 with 720 and 1080. 1080 is a lot crisper that 720, even though my display is not full hd. 720 is a tad soft/blurry. I guess it's because 720 is scaled up to fit 768 and 1080 is scaled down to 768.

Short story - I run 1080.

There's an update for UNO that enables them in game.

Apparently Hardwood Hearts, Hardwood Spades, Bomberman and Kingdom for Keflings support them too.
