What bot responses?
Re: Star Wars Galaxies (2 years ago)
I stopped playing in January this year when Sony went and closed a whole bunch of servers (mine included). I was pretty cut about the whole business and when it came to using my free server transfer I sent my two characters to two different servers by mistake (I wasnt paying attention icon_redface.gif) and just said fine and shut my account down.

Sony have royally screwed SWG up now and its honestly ruined any hope I have of playing another one of their MMO's although DC Universe kind of has me interested.

What server do you play on and what type of characters are you using?

I had a level 90 Jedi, level 90 Architect, level 90 Domestics crafter, on Valcyn when it exsisted as well as a whole bunch of other level 90 characters that where in most cases crafters on other servers.
Thanks MMaC thats pretty much the only reason I need something like this. I also just bought a new Netbook and I would like to be able to watch movies on it.

Thanks I really appreciate the help, ill give it a look.
Hi all

I am trying to find a really good DVD to .AVI ripper that I can use to transfer my DVD movies onto the PC to use with a media server.

However I am a bit overwhelmed by the number of different programs out there and all the conflicting and biased reviews.

So I thought I would ask if anyone here uses this type of software. If you could give me some ideas that would be great.

Thanks
Re: Refugees your view? (3 years ago)
I really believe that Australia has lost its way when it comes to immigration. We are a huge country with a tiny population that has become what it is today because of the huge influx of immigrants we have had over the years.

The main reason people try to come here illegally is because in most cases there is no avenue to do so legally unless you have a huge pile of cash. Its also insanely difficult to deal with our embassies for paperwork etc.

Our goverment needs to make it so coming to Australia legally will not wipe out a poor persons finances once they are here. They did it after world war 2 and it did wonders for our nation so why cant they do it now?

The people who come here want to be a part of our society for whatever reason and will bring money and skills and the ability to pay taxes and participate in making our country better.

I suppose its a simple way of looking at it, but more people paying taxes means more money in goverment coffers for education, roads, hospitals and social programs.

Added to that is the fact a lot of these people start businesses and employee other people which helps everyone in the long term.

Immigration seems to almost be a swear word for people these days which I think is really sad.

Language also should never be a issue for immigration as there is nothing wrong with someone not being able to speak English. The ability to work and contribute to society is what is important not whether someone has a certain skin colour or a big bank balance or whether they can speak English. That is what school is for anyway.

Just because someone cannot speak English it does not mean they don't deserve to enjoy the same way of life we do.

Anyway enough of my thoughts I just wanted to contribute my 2 cents.
Thanks for the warning, will now more then ever make sure our cats stay inside.
It will be interesting to see how it turns out. My expectations are very very low considering how crap Dues Ex 2 was.
So glad you posted this thread TheAnswer I have been trying to find somewhere good overseas for laptops for a while.

I have never had a lappy though so I was wondering if you guys might give me some advice since the thread is already here.

How reliable are laptops (I am worried about warranties etc if buying from overseas)

Does a laptop I buy from overseas have a warranty?

AND

Are there any brands of types i shouldnt look at buying?
Re: Anxiety.. (3 years ago)
Friends are important but if your suffering from anxiety and paranoia is a part of that (not sure if it is for you) sometimes confiding in friends can lead you to feeling like you dont belong, which will make you distance yourself from the world even more.

I would say its great to spend time with your friends and do all that friend stuff but try and keep your anxiety out of the picture with them as it can make some people feel a bit uncomfortable with things they dont understand or dont believe in.

Thats why I suggest a Pshycologist as then you have a clear line in the sand. Its like you wouldnt talk to your mates about a wart on your toe or something.

Also a Pshycologist cant prescribe drugs they are really just a sounding board and a place to teach you coping methods to deal with the stuff you have gone through.

A Psychiatrist is more into feeding you drugs for your issues like a doctor would and I would only go to one as a last resort in your case.

But hey if you have understanding friends then it shouldnt be a issue just be careful as anxiety can really turn into a spiral.
Re: Anxiety.. (3 years ago)
Anxiety is a bitch. It sounds like your having pretty bad panic attacks. I suffer from very bad anxiety on top of other things and it is crippling and I know what your going through.

I am sorry to hear your going through this.

I would suggest you go and see a Pshycologist about your anxiety as it will be a lot easier for you to treat with proper help.

You have gone through something very traumatic so its natural for your brain to be in this state.

If you ever need someone to talk to feel free to PM me and I really hope you are doing okay.
Re: New System Advice.. (3 years ago)
I am planning to install the OS on a 320gig WD SATA drive, along with Office and all that other stuff.
New System Advice.. (3 years ago)
Howdy

I am in need of a new system and I have $1550 to spend. Could you guys help me with some tips on whether or not you think this setup will do alright for most of the current games that are out or coming out.

This is what I have in mind:

2 T.B WD SATA Hard Drives x 2
CoolerMaster HAF 932 Case
Corsair HX750 PSU
ASUS P7P55D-E Pro Motherboard
Intel 1156pin Core i5-750 CPU
LiteOn SATA DVD Drive
G.Skill ECO 4GB PC3-12800 (1600MHz) DDR3 RAM
Asus ATI 5770 1GB Video Card

---------

I realise the video card is a bit weak and plan to update it sometime down the line its just my budget will not allow for it right now. I have read its a good card for what it does.

I am also unsure about the PSU. I am not sure if I should get the Corsair TX850 or go with the HX750. What is the difference? I would at some stage like to have either multiple GPU's or a single top end card, so I am unsure on how big a supply I need. Added to that I may add a couple more hard drives down the track as well. What size PSU do you all recommend?

Also should I go with the i5 650 instead of the 750?

Let me know if there is anything else you need to know.

All tips and advice is most welcome icon_smile.gif
Re: Red Dead Redemption (3 years ago)
Are you sure? The UK versions of GTAIV DLC where for different discs to the Australian PSN store. Thats really why I am a bit worried.
Re: Red Dead Redemption (3 years ago)
I have pre-ordered the xbox and ps3 LE versions from Zavvi. I have not got anything from them, can anyone tell me if they are good with postage times?

Also I read that this may have DLC coming out so what do you think will be the situation as far as getting DLC off PSN and XBOX marketplace if I have UK versions?

Could use the advice thanks icon_smile.gif
Re: Man Scammed on Ebay (3 years ago)
Great read thanks Shadow Wave.
My copy arrived today after ordering the Bundle from GAME. I have to say I was shocked arrived so soon as it was only sent yesterday.

As for the game its pretty good but also a little dissapointing as it feels like a port of Monster Hunter Freedom unite from PSP just with a bit of a different story. Still is quite fun in the Monster Hunter way.

I was wondering if someone here would like to try it on multiplayer with me sometime. I have never played any multiplayer Wii games before but if someone is patient enought to get it up and running with me I'd love to do some Monster Hunting. Send me a PM if you are interested icon_smile.gif
I'm in Mike I sent ya a msg on PSN so let me know a way we can sort out a time. If you use yahoo msger leave a pm for me and ill add you and send you a msg.
I am enjoying it a lot more now. I think it helped heaps that I read through the datapad info. Before that I was pretty clueless about the story etc. I am still confused by a lot of stuff in the game (upgrading, making gil. etc) but Im slowly advancing.

I am now up to the Bioweapon Maintance Boss and he is pretty tough to beat, but it is still enjoyable if not terribly exciting.

Can anyone tell me later on if you get to explore the world a bit more freely without it being a part of the story?
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is the way to go. You can get it pretty cheap now. I like the way it has heaps of free content to download and the multiplayer is also very cool. I play it with my flatmate and it can be entertaining.

Its only flaw really is the lack of targetting but thats always been a issue from what I have read.

For me personally its a must have buy for the PSP and I think it also with works with Ad-hoc party if you have a PS3.

It is hard but with practise its just brilliant.
Wow thats super helpful thanks! icon_rolleyes.gif
okay.. I found a bit out about the back story in the Datalog. My next question is to ask is there a way to turn the music down or off?

I cant find a way in the settings. Its starting to drive me insane.
My copy of Final Fantasy XIII arrived yesterday and I started playing it last night. All I can say as someone who doesnt normally play JRPGs is what the hell!!.

I am so confused as far as the story goes, they throw around all these names about classes of people and the world etc yet give no info on whats going on in the world.

Should I have played all the other Final Fantasy's before this? Am I the only one confused? For the record I only played one or two of the early FF games on the PS1. They where nothing like this....

Also whats the deal with all the grunting that little kid who's mum dies seems to do whenever he speaks? Is that normal in this sort of game?

I get the feeling with this game there is a whole lot of potential for it to be interesting but the lack of backstory and info on the world itself has me confused and frustrated.

I am up to the part after the sister has been turned to crystal about 3hrs in, and I have no idea whats going on or what to do next with the characters I am able to upgrade.

Anyone have any tips?
When I order from Play-Asia I always go with cheap boxed postage. I figure for a few extra dollars my games have more chance of getting to me undamaged. The packing seems a lot better then the cheapest option also.
I am looking forward to the Witcher 2. But sadly ill need to upgrade my PC first because as of right now it struggles just playing the original. But hopefully by the time it comes out ill have a new PC and have finished the original. Those screenshots looking ****ing awesome!

just read it - it's a prequel to the show, starts before Cyd has even bought the game.

it's pretty cool. the "real world" art is kinda rough and bland, but the art for the in-game action is more detailed, and pretty cool. quite a neat trick.

i found it just as funny as the show, so yeah, i recommend it.
Did you pickup the Guild comic from a newsagent or a specific store?

Ive been trying to find somewhere good to get comics for ages is all, and I definatly want the comic for the Guild.

---
And as a sidenote my copy of The Saboteur (PS3) from GAME for $48, as well as my copy of Final Fantasy XIII (UK Version PS3) from 365Games for $64. Saves me double posting I guess icon_biggrin.gif
Re: Your newest purchase (3 years ago)
Not a bad day today, I picked up Pokemon Soul Silver and Heart Gold from GAME for $48 each with a pricematch from Kmart.

And from JB I got Viva Pinata for $5, Trauma Centre: New Blood for $20 and Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise for $28.

The only thing I wasnt able to find was Punch Out Wii as the JB at Southland was out of copies.
In this case I am sort peeved considering the amount of DLC they have released with the statement from the start they wouldnt be cashing in with a LBP2 and instead updating and making the original over time.

Unless they make it so you can import all your DLC into the 2nd I doubt I will buy a sequal no matter how much I love the game.
I dont think this is any different to Hilton hotels training staff using the PSP really. I find it pretty smart in all honesty.

For All interested in getting a DSI XL. I think I worked out the cheapest way to get it. I ordered mine from www.mymemory.com its 165 pounds there but at the checkout use the coupon BACKFORGOOD to get 5% off including free shipping. It comes to about $260 AUD. Its a pretty sweet deal and they are reliable.
They are 189.95 US. Buy a US model. Much cheaper
Who are selling them for that price?
I have been hanging for this game for ages after seeing the preview trailers etc. Downloaded the demo the other day and it blew me away. The Stealth was so much fun and I had a ball finding different ways to take guys out.

I am going to get the Collectors Edition of this one for certain.
