I opened the lid, ejected the game, then put it back in and continued playing and it's worked fine ever since. icon_wink.gif

The thing is, the control is much harder than N64 version, add the super high waves and real time physics and you'll have a hard time controlling ur ski!

I'm getting this game nonetheless, ive played it heaps of times at the locak GCN kiosk at Dick Smith Electronics (Sydney), and i love it icon_smile.gif

Add this to Rogue Leader on my list of launch games... icon_smile.gif

Component Cable information, Rogue Leader II in 60 Hz PAL mode and more...

Discuss it in Talkback!

With less than two weeks to go until launch, interesting things are beginning to happen regarding the GameCube. Here's a couple of things I've been able to dig up:

-Probably known by anyone who's played an official Nintendo display unit, but when you boot up the Rogue Leader II playable demo, you're prompted with a screen. It asks you something like "Do you wish to play in 60 Hz PAL mode?" with the option of yes or no. It looks like things mightn't be too bad for PAL gamers after all...

-Speaking of Rogue Leader II, I've been informed by an Electronics Boutique staff member that they've received their copies of the game, and that they're on the shelves NOW. I don't know how many stores this applies to, but don't be surprised if you see real GameCube games on shelves instead of promo boxes.

-Last but not least, I contacted Nintendo to get some more information on the mysterious component cable. Nintendo will be selling it from the first day of the GameCube's launch. The price for this fancy piece of equipment? A meager AUS$54.95, and Nintendo will pay for the postage. Hurrah!

I thought the cables would be more expensive! But they're not bad at all...
This and the fact that the Gamecube PAL box mentions progressive scan, confirms that PAL cubes have the capability of P-scan output icon_smile.gif

I don't think you can trully test if your Euro GCN supports progressive scan as you need the component cables....

Does it mention it anywhere on the box or manual, JSWY?
DJ civic, rest assured our cubes support Progressive scan..
I went to Dick Smith in Macquarie Centre (near my uni!) and they had the official gamecube boxes... (f**k they were small as!)
Anyway it said under the accesories section,, Component cables - for superior picture quality and progressive scan etc etc..

Btw this is from Planetgamecube

NINTENDO GAMECUBE
supports progressive scan and 60hz.
Eek i just saw that on Xengen forums!

Nintendo for kiddies? COUNT ME IN THEN! icon_lol.gif
Umm why does it say..

The GameCube is launching in Australia on May the 15th, 2002, and gamers who pre-order units will receive a free Australian mini-disk, viewable in a standard DVD player or on a PC or Mac. The disk showcases the GameCube’s key titles and provides plenty of system information. GameCube units are also appearing in many retailers across the country soon, most dominantly in Disk Smith Powerhouse, Harvey Norman and Electronics Boutique stores, so gamers will get a chance to see the units first-hand soon.

Typo? icon_sad.gif
Not too excited by that really, since all games in plain stereo or plain DPL can be decoded and given 5.1 by DPLII processors...

I'm happy that this game actually has native widescreen 16:9 support!
Its gonna be sweet on my 40"! icon_smile.gif
ZtellaN wrote
Is there a HUGE difference between DPL and DPLII in sound quality? Or is it just that you get two surround channels instead of one?
Its almost as good as jumping from PL to DD 5.1
The only real difference between DD and DPLII is that there can be some sound bleeding across the channels, and there is no dedicated LFE channel.
Looks nice, but i think i prefer SFA 8) icon_lol.gif

but the city grace brothers seriously has 7 playable xboxs, and a huge rear projection tv playing DOA3
So it is okay these days to play video games on newer RPTV's? icon_biggrin.gif
I agree craptest. After i found out i went up to my mum and went hey remember the xbox that cost like $649, well they dropped the price to $399. The first thing she said back was "Why, isnt it good/arent people buying it?". Heh i guess most people will be saying that.
There is nothign wrong with the Xbox, but i did feel it was a total rip off at $649. Still the Xbox games dont really interest me. Do not fear i am still getting a Gamecube no matter what..

Remember the Xbox console is remaining the same just the price has changed..

Although i feel that many casual gamers who had wanted to get a cube may go after the black demon!
http://www.xbox.com/au/news/0204/XboxPrice.htm

Man that is a quick ass price drop!
Btw Nintendo better do something like drop their price as well! Or all casual gamers will flock to the box! icon_sad.gif
Black, but not because i couldnt afford an Xbox, but because everything else in our living room is basically black 8)
Re: WmMichael's day (1 decade ago)

BTW, does anyone know if there's a better non-mega-expensive connection than SCART for us UK gamers?
Thanks icon_smile.gif
Wave Race: Blue Storm icon_smile.gif
Not interested in SMB yet... icon_smile.gif
Im in Australia and have Toshiba 40" 16x9 RPTV. I have a choice of either S-Video SCART or Component. Component is used by DVD right now so i might just go with S-Video if i have to. icon_confused.gif

They probably get the demo disk which all the GC kiosks have.
Probably, and they might have given them a few coupons to pick up games on launch or whatever.. 8)
I loved Wave Race 64, and now Wave Race Blue Storm, with better voices (still not perfect but better than Maximum Power!!!!), better graphics (*drools over water*), and 4 player split screen at solid 30fps!..

I'm blown away icon_biggrin.gif
