Re: FFXIII-2 (1 year ago)
Dammit, what a shame, was really hoping for some Versus info, its been sooo long! Some new info, a new trailer, gameplay, anything!

With XIII-2, I do hope they have made some big improvements. The battle system was one of my favourite things about the game, but I did grow tired of the corridor gameplay, the lack of towns and a world map, and fun side quests. Some real exploration would be nice, I'm a big fan of hidden areas and secrets.

As an aside I could have sworn one of the suspects in a case was Greg Grunberg (the cop guy from Heroes) he looked and sounded exactly like him (weird that he looked like him as well, but yeah), it's not him though.
Not true, it is Greg Grunberg. Look it up in the credits section of the instruction manual, he's credited as Hugo Moller.

I envy anyone who can play this game longer than an hour at a time, the game causes my 60gb PS3 to shut off each time I play it, sometimes its 15 minutes, sometimes an hour if I'm lucky.

I've tried everything at Rockstar's support page here, and I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one having issues. I really hope they are working on a fix, because I've had no issues with my other PS3 games, Red Dead Redemption worked perfectly for me. I'm not going to go out and buy a PS3 slim just to play the damn game.
Wow, I am really, really looking forward to this now. Brilliant that they have more actors from the original film in addition to Sean Bean. I do wonder how they will address the whole Harry Mason/Chris Da Silva thing now that Rose is in the movie.
If the specifications on the adapter are like you said, between 100-240V, then you should have no worries replacing the fig 8 cable with one of ours.

I'm fueled at the moment, mainly because of the principle of the matter and how the MS CSR spoke to me; 'electronic devices fail as part of their nature, you can't expect them to last forever'. Errr... it's within the 1 year warranty period, you twit.

Whatever. I regret ever giving MS a cent of my money.
That's the biggest load of crap, and that attitude really ticks me off. What happened to the days when electronics were designed and built to last? I've got stuff from the 80's that still works to this day.

I realise that things aren't going to work perfectly for the rest of eternity, but surely Microsoft could put out a console that would work fine for more than a lifespan of 3 years.
My second Xbox 360 RROD'd on me today. I'm so pissed, it was a newer model, an Arcade one with the new Chipset and HDMI out. I honestly will not buy a Microsoft console again. Its been the only console I've owned in my many years of gaming that has failed me. And twice. And I know I'm lucky in the regard for many more it has failed more times.

I'm sticking to my original PS3, that has still been going strong since launch. I will send my Xbox off, but its so inconvinient. The console design is flawed, and the fail rate would have to be highest out of any console released to market.

My copy from Play-Asia shipped on the 9th Oct. Seems there's a bit of a wait (though it has only been 8 business days...) so try not to get too excited for this weekend, though I do hope you're lucky!
I hope so too, but i'm pretty confident I'll have it on Thursday - its getting delivered by FedEx. I alway choose express deliveries, because I'm such an impatient bastard.
I'm sure it was mentioned earlier in this thread that the US release had an optimized english translation and fixed a few bugs/glitches, so it would probably be better spending the few extra dollars on that should you choose.

My copy shipped from Play-asia today, should have it by the end of the week, can't wait!
Re: 3D Dot Game Heroe (3 years ago)
Wow, that was a nice trailer. Really dig the whole style, yeah its definitely retro, the graphics remind me of Little Big Planet in a way. Hopefully this is more promising than From Software's more recent efforts (Enchanted Arms and that Ninja Gaiden rip-off game come to mind).
At the end of the day I'm not worried about the fact that the game going multiplatform has compromised it, in terms of graphics or areas of the game that I can't explore later on. I play the FF games primarily for their story and characters, and then gameplay. If the development of the 360 version has compromised those, then I have reason for concern.

BTW, the supposed release date for Final Fantasy XIII in Japan is December the 17th. Link: http://m1.jp.2mdn.net/1905713/PID_1105355_FinalFantasyXIII_apac2314_After_960x250_INPV_polite.swf
Wow, just when I thought this game wasn't epic enough.
I'm surprised no-one has posted about the trailer yet. I'm going to reserve my final judgement for when I see it in a cinema (have to see it in 3D) but I'm liking what I see, and I'm really hoping for an epic adventure.

There seems to be a lot of cries about the fake looking CGI, but I really like the small details you can make out upon multiple viewings. Again though I think it really needs to be seen from a Digital 3D projector and not just a computer screen to appreciate the full effect.

I am very much looking forward to this, I'm glad that they are going for a re-imagining, rather than a straight up port of the first game.

Those screenshots though, they look a little.... rough. I know the Wii isn't a graphics powerhouse, but the graphics I've seen in videos looked a lot better than the screenshots from IGN.

I have a feeling that these black bars would be better then some shotty fake widescreen like RE4:Wii Edition.

I also heard something like they can't because of the pre-rendered backgrounds but that's just an excuse for laziness.
Shotty fake widescreen in RE4 for the Wii? Looks like real 16:9 widescreen on my TV. Now RE4 on the Gamecube, that's a different story.

And I knew there wouldn't be any graphics overhaul for RE on the Wii, but I'm glad I experienced it when it first came out for the GC. Bring on new RE titles please, not remakes/ports or shooters.
Yeah I'm a bit on the fence about what version to buy. The pics didn't really do any justice, the comparison video at GameTrailers was a lot better. For those who think that the PS3 version looks 'washed out' in the video, its because it is not being output with HDMI settings set to FULL (it looks like Gametrailers use component out for video capture).

Anyway, performance wise the PS3 version seemed to fare better than the Xbox 360 at the level where water is gushing out everywhere, it got a little choppy on the 360 version.
Well there is no Japanese version listed at the Play-asia website, only the Asia version, which is listed as English at the product page here
Re: Japanese RPGs (3 years ago)
I definitely agree with a number of points raised in this thread, namely that FFVIII is the best Final Fantasy, and the best JRPGs have the best story, not necessarily the best presentation.

They do take a lot of time away, as in hundreds and hundreds of hours of gameplay, with very long sittings. Definitely not for the casual gamers, probably why my mate hates them and is more into shooters. Probably sick of watching me play Star Ocean for so long, its all I'm playing at the moment. Must finish it...

Like Gamesta said it was upped early this morning on the AU PSN.
You sure the CE is sold out? JB Hi Fi had plenty of copies when I picked mine up this morning.

I'm digging the fighting system, its a bit of fresh air compared to some of the battle systems in JRPGs as of late. I'm really hooked on blindside attacks, so cool. My only complaints are that enemy encounters can be too frequent (it seems like you can really get bogged down fighting) and the fidgety camera system.
Re: Anyone know? (3 years ago)
UK use the same power supply as us (240v) so it should be fine.
Sony's press conference was what, like more than a day ago and already they're thinking of changing their mind? I hope Sony didn't pay anything for the exclusive rights, otherwise I'd be pissed.
Re: Who won E3? (3 years ago)
It must be the fanboy coming out in me, but I was more impressed with the Sony conference overall. The awesome new FFXIII trailer, exclusive FFXIV, GT5, PSP Go, Resident Evil coming out on PSP, LBP PSP, GT PSP, new motion controller more interesting to me than project natal, Uncharted 2, etc could go on and on.

Nintendo, well everyone loves more Mario, will get SMG2 and New SMB Wii for sure. Microsoft, to be honest, there wasn't anything that got me excited, from a game point of view
Sorry to bump this back to the front page, but I didn't want to start a new thread. I came across this today which pretty much says that the game is definitely out in 2010.

Comes from the Square-Enix members website (you have to be a member to read the blog) but was also posted at Joystiq which you can view here.

Would be so cool driving around in LA and seeing these
Wow, Microsoft seem to be coming out with a lot of bundles these days. Wasn't there a red console bundled with RE5 just released recently? How many different SKUs can you get?
Just watched the trailer in HD over at Gametrailers http://www.gametrailers.com/video/reveal-trailer-modern-warfare/49655

Simply amazing, looks like non-stop action. The scene at the end of the trailer was spectacular. I had to keep watching it again and again.
That's great news for all Professor Layton fans out there! Can't wait to solve some new puzzles, the first game had some real stumpers (and were embrassing as I had to get help from fellow family members and then feeling like an ass when they solved them so easily icon_redface.gif )

Looking forward to August for sure
I agree that the model of the female character (just the face, not the body) is a little off, but no way are the graphics crap. As for her face looking a bit reflective, maybe she's sweaty?

Something I've read and totally agree with, is the what makes that club scene so impressive is not the graphics, but all the individual and seperate movements by all NPC in the club. No repetition, it looks very natural, just like in a real club, everyone's getting their own groove on icon_wink.gif
Cool find there, I think this is something I can really see them start to launch soon, maybe there will be some news at E3? Not only for games, but for movies, like Blu-rays in 3D as mentioned in the original post.

James Cameron's Avatar would be a prime example of an awesome blu-ray in 3D, I really hope it happens. Just some software updates and getting a pair of glasses and it would be all set.
And I was really hoping I could trade in one of my Wii games for the CE *sigh*. I'll have to rummage through my 360 games to see if theres something I'm willing to trade away.

I would really have liked it if the staff at GAME were aware of their trade in deals, looks like I'll have to go to a mate's place to get a print off, don't have a printer right now.
