Re: PALGN users game of the year (1 year ago)
I've only got three to put down so far. I might update the list at the end of the year, but in the meantime... these are the three
1. Portal 2
Portal 2 is definitely my favourite game of the year. From beginning to end it's one hell of a ride and it's something that just about everyone should experience. , there was never a dull moment right through. Oh, and the co-op is insanely awesome. Ummm hurry up Valve with HL3?
2. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
More Uncharted awesomeness! Enjoyed the story immensly. Not really into the multiplayer, even though I messed around a bit with it in number 2, but it certainly is a good addition. I still can't decide if I preferred this game or the previous... both are amazing. The recent patch that added new controls made the game that even bit better (although I didn't have a problem with them in the first place).
3. Saints Row: The Third
So much fun... and a lot better than Saints Row 2. I liked the second one, but the new activities (Genki, etc.), hover bike (specter), awesome missions (deckers.die, Murderbrawl XXXI) and all the other crazy shit makes this game better and one of the best games of the year. I'll probably buy most of the downloadable content that comes out for the game as well.

The shark gun is pretty awesome. Can't wait for Volition to bring out some more absurd weapons DLC.
Loving this game so much... it's preventing me from playing any of the games in my backlog.

Re: Best Exclusive of 2011 (1 year ago)
I would have to say my GOTY is probably going to be Portal 2. I loved Uncharted 3 and am still yet to play Arkham City, but man Portal 2 was awesome. Just thinking about it makes me want to play through it again soon.
Re: MGS and ZOE HD Collections for PS3/360 (1 year ago)
The collection has been delayed... until February, for Europe only it seems. US still gets it on original release.
http://www.gamesradar.com/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection-delayed-europe-3-february-2012/
Not so bad I guess. So many games still to play and more coming out next month. Only paid 44 dollars for it from ozgameshop as well, so can't complain.

Re: PSN down? (1 year ago)
Had a great time adding all these games to my download lists. Haven't upgraded the hard drive yet, so I'll end up downloading all of these games when I do that.
Got the free PlayStation Plus month through my normal account, along with Dead Nation and WipEout HD with Fury. Used my US account to get Infamous and LBP (already have them on disc). Then grabbed R&C:QFB with my girlfriend's account (AUS), also already owned on disc. Didn't bother getting Super Stardust as I've already bought that through my regular account.
On top of that, I downloaded Modnation Racers and Pursuit Force for my PSP. Already own both LBP and Killzone on UMD, and with rumoured news of new games from both those franchises in development for the NGP, I decided against the digital originals.
And last but not least, got the This is Football Management mini for free thanks to the coke unleashed promotion as well as picking up Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light at half price. From $20 down to $10.

Re: L.A. Noire (2 years ago)
Played a bit of this yesterday. Pretty damn good, a game I'd like to take my time with for sure.
I'm 50/50 with the questions in interrogations/interviews at this point, a few cases into Homicide. Some people either try too hard to put you off or are pretty damn good at fooling you. There have been instances where I've got almost every answer right in the particular case though.
Enjoying some of the characters in the game as well. Stefan Bekowsky, your partner in Traffic is easily one of the more likeable guys in the game.

Re: Rockstar no show at E3 2011 (2 years ago)
Rockstar really need to announce Bully 2. The one guy that mentioned he was working on the soundtrack may have let it slip, but that's all we've heard.
Re: L.A. Noire (2 years ago)
There is also a screen shot comparison floating around the net showing the PS3 version to be the better looking of the two.
http://www.la-noire.net/forums/thread-1032.html
The PS3 image looks sharper... but this comparison could be fake as well.
Either way, pre-ordered the PS3 version myself. Not long to wait now. Hopefully with PSN going back up all around the world in the next few days, the Rockstar Social Club integration is working. Enjoyed messing around with that in Red Dead Redemption.
Really don't care about my pre-order bonus from GAME. It's only a suit, can fix it all up when the PS Store is working/when codes are accepted. Went with GAME because it was $82.
Hopefully the week goes by very quickly.

Awesome! Can't get enough of New Vegas.
Re: Portal 2 Thread 56k warning GameInformer scans (2 years ago)
Have to agree with pretty much everybody here who has finished the game, and the rest of the sensible internet of course.
This game is amazing. Could not believe the ending.
The game actually took me longer than most, thanks to exploring, messing around with the new features and just not wanting the game to end.
Must say, certainly my favourite game of 2011 so far, and on a personal level, I can see L.A. Noire, Uncharted 3 and Mass Effect 3 (if it is released at the end of the year) coming close to this game, but right now... even those games may not beat Portal 2.
And after all that, I still haven't dived into co-op yet. Going to play some split-screen with my girlfriend in the next few days for sure.
EDIT: Almost forgot.

I know that a lot of people still feel sorry for Wheatley considering what happened to him at the end. Even after he became so powerful, and I do too... but what GLaDOS did for Chell at the end made me admire her that little bit more.
And the whole her talking from a potato while you carry her around on your portal gun is one of the best moments in video game history.
As soon as the bird carried her away, it actually made me explore more than I thought I would. As I wasn't quite sure where or when I would find her or come across her again.

Had a dream about playing this early. I was trying to interrogate a suspect until he started fleeing and instead of just tackling him and trying to get him to talk, I kept on attacking him.
Anyway, shame it was just a dream and the game still has a month to go. Can't wait.

I hate Euphoria.Or at least how it's used in Rockstar games.I can handle realism but when it comes to GTA, realism SUCKS.I can't stand the stupid slow moving characters that turn so slow and ****.I was playing RDR and controling JM was pissing me off.

I love it.One of the things I loved about it was that depending on your weight, CJ would say different stuff.Make him fat and he will say stuff like "lunch money" when picking up money.
Make him the love child of L L Cool J and The Incredible Hulk (read that somehwere) and he will say totally different things than when he's fat.
That plus I just love running around with a musclebound guy that is larger than anyone else and could eat anyone else for dinner.I mean what's not cool about a huge muscly dude who knows karate?

RDR was really good but I have grown a major hatred for how characters have moved in their current sandbox games.
LA Noir is likely the only Rockstar game from now on that I will buy other than if they make any more Midnight Club Games.I love CSI stuff and seeing as it has that, I HAVE to play it.
Stupid unrealistic Rockstar>Slow realistic Rockstar.

In saying that though, I do also like the unrealistic sandbox games as well. So it's good that they keep on coming out. The Saboteur for example was awesome.
Re: What game are you playing? (2 years ago)
I tried playing San Andreas again a few months ago. Played through a mission, put the game down and haven't picked it up since. Going back to those physics is not something I can put up with. I have been spoiled with Euphoria. I understand in the old games, especially with San Andreas that people loved the mini games, and I did as well. I even miss the bmx bikes, but since I've been able to create my own fun with GTAIV, the exclusion of the old fun things never bothered me.
Now that I think about it though, I hated the stupid weight system in SA and I wasn't too fond of the constant taking back of your gang's territories... but I did come to terms with that one.
I did like San Andreas when it first came out and I'll always enjoy the old GTAs to some extent, moreso when they first came out, but personally I think Grand Theft Auto as a series is getting better and better.
Even after all that ranting, I still think Red Dead Redemption trumps everything with the Ball of Gay Tony coming a close second. Although with L.A. Noire still to come, and that still using euphoria, I may have a new favourite again.

Thanks to the guys over at the European PlayStation community forums, they have pointed out that if you have a facebook account and "like" the Sony PlayStation fan page here, you will receive a code for the mini.
A nice little gift I must say. Redemption expiry date is the 31st, so get in quick and get your mini.

I picked up a few games from the sale.
Theme Hospital
Sonic 4
Tales of Monkey Island
Monkey Island was an awesome saving, from $28 down to $14.45. There is a problem though, when it says you get the full series, you only end up downloading Chapter 1. So the guys that run the store need to fix it.

Re: What game are you playing? (2 years ago)
Played a bit of Donkey Kong Country Returns earlier today. It's been such a long time since I played the SNES games, so playing this today did bring back a lot of memories. Just to repeat what most people are saying though, the game is awesome and Retro Studios have done an amazing job.
I didn't get too far, half-way through the Beach I think... mainly focusing on trying to get KONG on every level as well as pick up every single puzzle piece that I can find. I like the fact that some of the hidden areas aren't too obvious. Makes looking for the extras that bit more exciting.
The time-trials are cool, although I can't see myself speed-running every level. Some of the times to achieve gold look a bit too tough for me. Either that or I just like spending a great amount of time on the one level.
I know a few people aren't too fond of the controls, but I don't really have any problems with them. I can see why others would want the option to map the controls to a different layout though.
Anyway, having heaps of fun. Good to hear that the later levels are a bit of a challenge. Not that I'm finding the early stuff too easy, but it's what makes this kind of game a true Donkey Kong game.

I do the same thing as Cap. I've got folders for my PSN titles, PS1 classics, demos, minis and individual folders for random stuff like the MGS4 database and Uncharted: Eye of Indra.
I just wish they'd use the same system for the PSP. Every time you exit a game or the browser, the game listing goes back to the default settings.

It sucks that we don't the plasma cutter, but I'll probably still get the CE version. I mean, I paid 8 dollars for Ignition, even after knowing that it comes as a free code with certain pre-orders of the game.
But not after reading that the game got panned for it's repetitive game play in the hacking mini-games and the less than appealing comic-like cut-scenes.
Still enjoyed it though.

Is that a bad thing then? That you are now "only really getting into the thick of things" after 50+ hours of gameplay and only 7 or 8 quests to go? Is that how you intended that statement to mean? ..
I am still struggling with myself over whether or not to buy this.. I loved Fallout 2.. but it's been a long time since I played that and I still have memories of Fallout 3 overshadowing my judgement.
50+ hours gameplay is an awesome amount.. but your statement could mean that the first 50+ hours was "not in the thick of it" and therefore lacking in some way..?

Heaps more than 7 or 8 quests to go. I don't think I'm even near the end of the game yet. As of now, I think I have about 10 quests on the go at once, and I usually work out which ones I like to complete first.
So yeah, the first 50 hours I really enjoyed, had heaps of variety... as well as myself exploring a lot and hoarding the crap out of random objects that can be used for building. The next 50 hours will be just as good.

Still plugging away at Fallout: New Vegas, only really getting into the thick of things now. 50+ hours of play time with about 7 or 8 extra side-quests to do. Still can't decide whether I prefer this or Fallout 3, love both of the games which is good enough for me.
Also imported The Sly Collection from Play-Asia and have been slowly going through Sly 1. I never played the PS2 versions, so experiencing these games for the first time is really cool. Neat little plat-former and some of the characters are lovable. Trophies are really easy as well. Will jump into the second game once I've finished this one. Haven't tried any of the Move mini-games yet, so I can't comment on them.
