Re: Readers Questions for PALGN Staff (1 year ago)
I guess I could, but it was designed by people on the website, and the staff, particularly James V, were so helpful when it came to creating it, I'd honestly feel bad if I adapted it for use somewhere else. The coding experience was fantastic though, and I'll always be able to say my first creation was for PALGN
Re: Readers Questions for PALGN Staff (1 year ago)
Actually it probably won't matter anymore, because it was based on purely the front page content, and I've only just realised what happened to that
Re: Readers Questions for PALGN Staff (1 year ago)
Well there are no more staff to answer this question I guess, but what happened to my app thread? I was on the verge of securing a licence to upload from Apple and now this happens :S
Re: The PSP Vita Thread (1 year ago)
I'm lucky enough to have my sisters going to America the week this launches, so I'll be getting the WiFi model and various accessories from there. Quick heads up on games though, the PSN is rumored to sell up to 40% less than retail (in Japan it is currently 20% across all games so that's probably more accurate), so for DLC purposes and not having to switch accounts etc. It might be a good idea to simply buy the games off the PSN. Even cheaper, get them from the US PSN.
Re: LA Noire PS3 - Giveaway!! (1 year ago)
So here it is, my PlayStation collection, so to speak.
PlayStation Family by Daishogun, on Flickr
As corny as it sounds, these consoles literally parallel the different stages of my life thus far, as I've grown a bit older, so have these. As the collection has grown ever larger, I like to think that I have as well, but I'm not the best judge of that.
PlayStation 1 - Just a wee little boy by Daishogun, on Flickr
This is my little PS1 collection. I think we got it when I was around 5 or 6. Spyro 2, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped were the first games I *partially* owned. My siblings and I would fight over who would play this thing endlessly, but we usually worked out a system in the end. Of note is my missing copy of FFVII which I recently bought. Can't seem to find the thing, but I did only pay $5 for it.
PlayStation 2 - Growing Up by Daishogun, on Flickr
The PS2 was my brother's birthday present, but just like my GameBoy, it ended up being a family heirloom. We still fought over turns, but not as much, and this was when I started getting into gaming. The best finds in this collection are probably the .hack// series. Over the course of three years, and lots of saving, I managed to hunt down all four games, but each was missing a part of itself. The first didn't have its manual, and the latter three were all missing covers, but I didn't care, they provided countless hours of fun.
PlayStation 3 - The teenage years by Daishogun, on Flickr
Finally, the PS3. This thing has been awesome to me throughout high school. Being able to play with my mates over the Internet is amazing, and the quality of the games available is equally epic. That said, I've had three now, because of the good old YLOD, but that hasn't deterred me from buying games crazily for this.
So yeah, that's about it. Other than my PSP, which I don't think is particularly photo worthy, this is the PlayStation collection. Don't know who I would be without this.

I can't seem to connect to any servers, which is frustrating, I loved Warhawk.

If it isn't a steelbook, I'm going to be very dissapointed... I wanted it to match my Uncharted 2 steelbook
Re: Gaming Bargains V2 (1 year ago)
JB Hi Fi are doing a deal on Battlefield 3. Buy the game, and RAGE from them in one transaction, and you'll get RAGE for $39. It doesn't mention anything about price matching, so you could possibly match the $79 that most places are charging, and get RAGE for a grand total of $118. Not too shabby for two new releases.

I can tell you now hat Myer won't even have it. They have exited the games business unfortunately.

Re: Your newest purchase (1 year ago)
It will probably take 15 business days to reach you, that seems to be the standard for TheHut/Zavvi for new releases recently. It happened to me for FIFA 12 (I did pay 1/4 of the price so no complaints here), and happened to quite a few friends for Deus Ex, so prepare to wait my friend.
Congratulations Jarrod, I've immensely enjoyed all of your posts. Just get a thousand more so I can post THAT meme
Re: F1 2011 Review (1 year ago)
I've actually found that the pad is viable in this year's game as opposed to 2010 where the Wheel would give a massive advantage. Still, nothing beats being able to slightly tilt at full throttle through Eau Rouge, or being able to lift slightly and maintain speed through 130R.

If anyone has a code for the early access, I'd appreciate it if you;d send it my way. Regardless, I know this game will be fantastic, I have complete faith in Naughty Dog.
Re: Experience with Global Console (1 year ago)
Yeah, its a 40GB from around october 2007. I don't mind the slim, but the Phatty looks so nice and shiny next to my shiny 360 S!
Experience with Global Console (1 year ago)
Hey everyone,
My PS3 died for the third time running, so I was thinking about replacing or trying to repair it. I found a place, www.globalconsole.com, that would repair it for $110 with 12 months warranty, and I was just wondering if anyone had a good experience with them, or could recommend someone else.
Cheers

Re: What really ticks you off? (1 year ago)
My PS3 has died for the third time, and everytime it happens before exams. Whilst that helps me study, it doesn't help me after exams when I just want to sit down and have a few matches with mates. And to top it off I just spent $150 getting a Wheel and GT5. Not. Happy. Jan.
Re: CSIdentity® Protection (1 year ago)
The problem was sorting out a company willing to, cover everyone across the PAL regions, as they include all the countries in Europe and Australia and New Zealand. TBH I think its unessential, only because I doubt anyone's ID did get stolen. That said better safe than sorry.
Re: Unlimited Detail (1 year ago)
As everyone is saying, I doubt its realistic to use this kind of tech. Going further than that, if the system relies on pure horsepower, don't expect to see it on any console in the near future. They are all generally built with minimalist specs, and then optimised to hell and back. Remember the PS3 has 256MB of dedicated RAM. That's it. The 360 has 512MB. Not much better.
All in all, while it looks fantastic I just don't see it happening any time soon. Plus if animation is difficult that wipes out the possibility for game use.
PS: On the point that there should be a hybrid engine. That would require a completely new system, as the graphics rendering can't be done using two different methods to render the single scene.

Console: $199 (Courtesy of David Jones, checkout OzBargain for details)
Zelda: $46 (DSE)
TOTAL: $245
I'm a very, very happy man
Re: Move Starter kit $18 at Big W (1 year ago)
As I mentioned earlier, if you could pick up two or even three for me, I'd be happy to pay for them and postage to Sydney. Only if you're comfortable with it of course.
Re: Uncharted 3: Dake's Deception! (1 year ago)
I got the patch in around 30 seconds. For me, XBOX Live isn't really faster than PSN, I find them to be the same in pure download speed. Live has the advantage in matchmaking though, but I'm willing to wait a few seconds more to find a good match and not pay $80 a year.
Re: Move Starter kit $18 at Big W (1 year ago)
That's an awesome price! Would you be willing to post up the receipt, or purchase a kit for me if I paid for it and postage to Sydney?
Re: PSN down? (1 year ago)
Weird, I did it through MediaGO! with no issues. Just went Latest > Welcome Back > Welcome Back > Get Now > Select two games.

I bought GT5 the other day because it was cheap and platinum. As soon as I booted it up I got a gift for the Red Bull X2010 1500BHP super car. This thing is insanely fast. I did about 460km/h on the Nurburgring straight and the turning is fantastic. You can take sharp turns at about 350km/h. It's made any competition in GT Mode a bit of a joke.
