How can Target sell the DSi XL and the 3DS for the same price? Are they stupid?
DSi XL RRP: $249.95
3DS RRP: $249.95

That's how.
I was wondering what Big W's standalone price was for Gears 3, so I scanned it up in one of the aisle scanners and it came up at $68.84. Haven't seen that advertised though.

I heard the new PLAYSTATION is better than the DS3.
Really? The new Playstation's better than a DS3? That must be one pretty impressive gaming console. icon_lol.gif
What horribly cluttered box art - hopefully that's only the American one. It reminds me of the awful American Heavy Rain box art compared to the simple yet elegant PAL version.
Wii Sid Meier's Pirates! 15/12/2010 Provisional

This has already been released. I must admit I kinda girly squealed when I saw it (EB). I wasn't aware they were re-doing it for the wii. I loved the original, and although i was let down by the xbox remake, it was exciting to see it live on.

Saw an advertisement in EB today, basic Wii console for $175, I assume white only, and slim PS2 for $78. Can't see anything about it online.
They're preowned consoles, the wii includes black ones, but it may prove difficult to find a preowned black wii.
Also the DS lite and DSi are part of the sale for *about* $107 and $174 respectively. (off the top of my head, they may be a little off)

^Is that brand new or refurb? Cause all eb's refurbishing involves is sticking the console in a new box.
that's a little harsh
Nintendo have managed to make a nice range of colours on their handheld ranges in the past, but using the most basic shade and tone of the 3 primary colours? Who could have thought the DSi XL could get any uglier? Nintendo are full of surprises!

i know I'm raising a dead topic but just letting you know this "cant 7 day exchange if you price match" was told to me again as Liverpool EBs today.
Definitely sent through an email via the EB website (from experience it gets sent to your local area manager) and ask about it. As far as I'm aware, policies should be the same at every EB. And anything that comes from the Area Manager will overrule anything the store manager says.

Unless of course they were told to do that by their area manager, but at least you'd know for sure.
EB Games have preowned wired controllers for $18.91 in their current sale (in stores)

Well, I think it looks cool. Much better than that horrendous looking thing we've been subjected to since 2006. There's no sense of scale though, and it looks much more legit than any other rumour pic design.

Edit: Shame theres no slot loading though

I went to EB games today and tried to do the deal for the free game but they had no knowledge of it. They thought I was making it up... I just left empty handed.
Apparently staff weren't told until the night before, so unless you had the same staff member on on sat morning chances are they had no idea. Very silly move on EB's part. If something like that happens again, ask them to call their area manager - he or she will know about it.

Sounds like it could be your TV.
The reason why I don't think it is the TV is that the issue is limtied to the PS3. Streaming to the TV directly doesn't give the issue, nor does the 360 over hdmi, or the wii/ps2/xbox over component, or FTA tv.
I've tried searching for people with similar issues but to no avail so here's my help me thread.

For a while now I've noticed screen tearing at one spot on the PS3, which is about one third from the top. It seems to happen with any game I put it and also for streaming video. The reason why I think it may be a PS3 issue and not a game/ streaming issue is that the tear is always at the same spot. Although I could be wrong. The last few games I've played where I've noticed the issue are: Ridge Racer 7, Heavy Rain, Overlord 2. Or could this just be a case of screen tearing being a common issue for these games and for streaming video (through TVersity)?

I'm running the PS3 (Slim) though an HDMI cable on an HDTV. I've tried changing HDMI cables and the TV port to no avail.

woot! All I need now is 4859 more posts and I'll be on my way to colourful goodness!

I like colours. Colours are my friend.
I can't help but think Sony's a few years too late to the party with this one. Sure it was a cool concept 3-4 years back, but I think most of us have moved on since.

Also, under USD$100... well thats alright I guess, but we all know how they adapt their prices into AUD. Sure you can import, but local pricing is still a bit offensive imho.

bottom line is JB will probably have it cheap.
according to JB's site the standard edition will be $109! I've never seen a standard release game at JB for over $100

http://www.jbhifi.com.au/games/heavy-rain/

Out of interest, does anyone know if the collectors edition content, which is DLC, be available to buy separately in Aus?
On the topic of importing, the collector's edition appears to be a HMV exclusive in the UK and would be £44.50 shipped to Aus...

Has anyone found a good preorder price for it yet by any chance?

I've never actually preordered a game before, or even bought them at release due to the heafty price tags. But I've never been looking forward to a game as much as this.
Re: Gaming Bargains V2 (3 years ago)
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but it appears that EB are having a Preowned sale in January - although the sale prices may already be up instore. The prices are on the 'cents' scale again so if you wanted to check out the website for what will be on sale...
ending in:
.08 = $8
.13 = $13
.20 = $20
.31 = $31
.46 = $46
.66 = $66
.84 = $84

Whilst some games are still overpriced, there does appear to be some cheap titles available for thoes who don't mind shopping at EB.
It was very surreal in Broken Hill yesterday. You could see it coming in from the day before. By 3.30pm (CST) yesterday, the town completely plunged into darkness. There was so much dust it completely blocked out the sun - and there was no cloud coverage either. Aparently Broken Hill hasn't seen a dust storm this bad since the 60's.

Inital thoughts, yet another dust storm.

The cleanup today at home wasn't too fun but it's mostly done now.
I haven't been following the PSP GO details of late, but I just can't fathom the idea of a handheld system that costs just as much as a current gen gaming consoles. (well $50 less than the PS3, same price as the xbox elite (from the price drop on the 22nd), and $50 more than the Wii).

And I'm not sure about this whole downloadable titles either. I understand that there'll be a lot of people who love the idea, but for me I need to have something corporeal.

This would have been mentioned countless times, but removing physical discs also eliminates the second hand market which will also help bring in more $ for Sony. If they're only available as download titles from the Sony Store then that'll eliminate competition too.

Even if I was on board with the idea, I've still got a monthly limit before my internet speed slows down which would be eaten up.

But OK, this is coming from someone who couldn't even justify getting a DS or PSP in their current form.

I do think it'll fair well overseas though. Also Apple believe downloadable titles are the way to go with their iphone/touch games so it'll give them some real competition.
Just noticed this error

Also, I couldn't see it in the list above, but I noticed that EB Games now have a Buy a PS3 Slim for $496 and get a free game - either LBP, Killzone 2 or GTA IV.

Looks like I'm a little late to the party, but here's my wii code!

2568 5512 4946 9268

but I forgot what I named my Wii, hmm... I'll add that later on
Yeah, I know, I won't be venturing under a car again in this lifetime in any case,

a decent amount of weight, i was pinned down by the head and shoulder, 6 firemen lifted it off

In any case the news articles made me smile - I didn't expect them!
Finding out I made the local news and paper, then later finding out I also made the ABC news website. Now, it wasn't for any reason whatsoever pleasant - quite the opposite, but I still found it amusing in a surreal way.

Not for the faint hearted, here's the link if anyone is interested to read,

Funny you mention that, I got a game on a store transfer, paid for it in full, a huge $13.50 with the edge card (stickered around 15) by the time it arrived (about 3 weeks) the price was up to $25 - still got it for the original amount though. The game was SMT: Devil Summoner.

You may also have noticed that the price changes were in line with the end of the mid year sale, when everything (well, lots of things) were re-stickered. Their prices seem to fluctuate quite a lot though. Theres one ps2 game (nothing fancy), 3 copies in store, all stickered at different prices (between $6-$12) with none of them having the correct price.

So I'm not sure its a case of them getting 'smarter' and charging more for the better/rarer games, more like an exercise to keep the staff on their toes! Lots of price changes at the end of every sale they have.

Redgaurd an Elder Scrolls Adventure.
I had no idea about Redguard being rare, I've got that.... somewhere.... maybe in storage. I do remember it being pretty cool with expansive environments. That said i haven't played it in nearly 10 years.

Probably another one for MGS3 Subsistence here, although mines the promo version with the white label.
Also Twin snakes on the cube.

Banks will always charge a 'foreign currency conversion' fee. If you use Paypal, there is no fee as Paypal charges your card in AUD.
Yep, as above, theres no fee when paying with paypal, the down side however is that the exhange rate you get is always a few cents less then the current market rate.

So in the end it can end up pretty much the same, although that depends on what the markets doing between putting it through on your credit card and it being processed (ie it may change by a few cents either way).

I'm hating them even more right now as I want to buy a copy of Ar Tonelico 2 and they are the only place I can find it in stock. *grumble*
Funny you should mention that, I just got a copy of that game myself, kind of a whim buy, from cdwow.com.au. I don't know if you've had dealing with them, but I've bought 4 games from them recently and all went well.

I got it for $28.86 when they had one of their sales, its currently $30.95 and still says 'in stock usually ships within 24 hours' - which mine did. I think it only took about 3-4 days to arrive from when I put the order in.

Re: 365 games/gameshop-australia, their prices were just too good to pass up on persona 3 FES and 4, Digital Devil Saga 1+2 and Shadow Hearts from the New world... Here's hoping it goes well.
Just wanted to say, love the thread - it's been quite helpful!

Also, I'm not sure if this has been pointed out already, but ever notice how 365games.co.uk seem to have the same stock at Gameshop-Australia on Ebay? I've just done an order on both and they are the same company! (they also have xbiteworld on ebay.co.uk - cheaper shipping but more expensive overall I've found).

Most of their stuff (that I looked for (PS2)) seems to be cheaper on their ebay store, but some are cheaper on the 365games.co.uk site.

Edit: Oh, I must have missed all those posts... sorry all and thanks charly!
