Painting the kitchen this weekend, and setting up a new pantry. Cupboard space, what a novelty. Still have a bit more work to do in there but it is starting to look reasonable, and I've had enough for the day.

You may want to be careful there EatChildren (for your own benefit). I'd double check to make sure tax wasn't taken out of your newstart allowance before hitting your account. A few years back I was on newstart (most of one financial year between uni & getting a job) and tax was taken out of my payments, which resulted in me getting tax money back. I'd imagine Centrelink should have provided payment summaries by now though.

Tax probably should have been taken from your pay for the few weeks you were working this financial year as well, so I'd imagine maybe refund there.

I'd probably submit a tax return if I was you but that is just me.

Edit: I'm not sure if they still make them available (I've used etax for the last few years) but you may want to try and get a hold of one of those paper tax pack things. They did have a section about Government payments and what is/was taxable and whether you were required to submit a tax return depending on the government allowance you were receiving (Newstart you had too, other things like Disability/Careers pensions you didn't from memory). Worthy a look I think.

I'm so sorry to hear of your situation Kyle, from start to finish. The whole story is just rather iik (although, as hard as it is, the best medicine for a deceased loved pet is to get another one. Didn't believe it myself until I was dragged to get a new one a few years ago. Although, getting a type of pet you don't particularly like was a rather questionable thing to force someone into.)

I was initially going to say the vet must be very questionable to put down a perfectly healthy cat but having thought about the way you described the cats mood lately, some vets may have considered it "feral" & would have put it down as a lost cause. Poor, poor Kitty. Still, not a vet I would ever go to, outside of an emergency & them being the only option at the time. Poor kitty should have at least been given a chance one way or another.

The whole cat & baby danger thing has been a belief for years/centuries. Some people argue old wives tale, others believe it, either through knowing nothing else or because they really do actually believe it despite the skeptics.

I hope you get through all of this really soon. I know what you feel, are going through for a lot of it (The only thing my mother hasn't completely messed me over with -long term at least - in my life is, thankfully pets.)

I got a really nice email from someone in another department at work today, about the work I do. I seem very invisible within my team so it was really nice to be acknowledged by the person & put a rather big on my face. I'm not one for attention but I'm a little over where I'm working & even moreso the people, so this was probably a well needed little remark.

Now, I'm off to make rum balls, which will make me when they are done.

In a perfect world I would say lunch. A nice home cooked lunch, around the 1.30-2pm mark, would make me happy for the day & would most likely be my one & only meal for the day.

However, the world isn't perfect, so I will have to go with Dinner (maybe?!) Breakfast generally just consists of a brought coffee on my way to work that I drink while at work. I'm quite a fan personally, but probably should not be considered breakfast per se. Not much of a fan of lunch during the week, as I don't see much variety in it & get rather over the whole concept of lunch regularly. Really only leaves dinner. Dinner on weekends are the best though, as it is generally when I experiment with what I cook & try new things which makes me a happy camper.

A lot of pet store people can be quite not so knowledgeable when it comes to fish unfortunately. I think I have a vague memory of you living in the Northern subs of Melb, so if that is the case I will highly recommend that you pay a visit to the Aquarium in Bell St Coburg if you are still looking for fish advise. It's name escapes me right this second but if you are coming from Preston direction it is just a few blocks over Sydney Rd, a big blue building on the right hand side. Huge tropical fish range, and a decent (I think?!) gold fish range in a separate room (same room as the seahorses. ) They were mighty helpful to me a few years ago when I'd recently got into Tropical fish (and had got horrible advice elsewhere.) I've never heard of anyone with anything but positives to say about the place come to think of it.

Now just to be on topic, what ticks me off is public transport of course. My train canceled this morning, the next one 8 minutes late and then it changes from a part express to a stopping all stations. Needless to say I was a nice 25 minutes late to work today. Not the best way to start a day.

The way my roast lamb turned out that I cooked tonight. It is only the second roast I've ever cooked (not much of a roast eater/cooker) and it may have just been the best so far. Until next time...

I was lucky enough to see this in the early days of it being in Melbourne so saw Rob Guest & it really was an amazing performance. Highly, highly recommended if you have the $ for a ticket, WOO fan or just a theatre fan in general. A great production, great cast, great costumes, just great. I would have even gone back for a second time towards the end of the run if I had the spare $.

I got nicely lucky today, apparently I should go out shopping randomly with my mother more often. My gamecube collection more than doubled today.

Then picked up 2 packets of ds game cases (10 cases a pack) for $2.88 and not the stickered $9.95

Having brought all that, I had completely broken the budget for the week *smacks self* so I restrained myself and brought nothing in Kmarts game sale.

If you have a Coles near you and you want more of those figure capsules you might want to see if they have them and what the price is. In Melbourne at least they are currently on sale (the Super Mario Ones, Pokemon, High School Musical & something else I think - Mario Kart is the only one not included from what I've seen) as part of a toy clearance for $3 each.

I wasn't planning on posting & was just going to be one of those annoying people who have +'d you and not said boo.

I don't have any amazing palgn stories of it changing my life in any way to share. Afterall, I'm primarily a lurker, who crawls out of a rock every once and a blue moon shares her 10 cents and crawls back under the rock she appeared from. Reading the above (quoted) made me decide to share my 10 cents worth (ok maybe 1 cent worth) here. Even this lurker has to completely agree with Capoeira here. This site is actually one of the first, if not the first, I log onto everytime I come online. Overall, everyone just seems like such a friendly bunch & everything remains pretty light hearted.

I discovered this site while in a very very pointless job where I virtually surfed the net 8 hours a day. My entertainment with the site remained while not working for a few months after quitting the pointless job. Today, despite well and truly being back in the workforce, this is the only site I still visit from my nothing to do all day period of my life.

This place really is something special to posters and probably other lurkers like myself. So keep up the work fun palgners.

Maybe there could be two meet ups. After all, I'm sure there are some floating around the forum that are <18 that probably want to meet up but can't get into legally drinking in public places.

That way people who aren't in the Northern subs can still meet up but people who prefer to meet in the North/can't make the date/activity of the city one can still meet up. So many people seem to go to Broady from here so I can't imagine trying to time such a trip on a weekend would be too difficult.

Brought an Arcade 360 on the weekend for a Christmas present. Game's $279 Pussycat Doll bundle deal thing. Figured that -$79 for Lips (as I probably would have brought it at some stage) = $200 arcade + free coasters.

That does sound pretty ordinary. I quit my job a little while ago as my previous employer had drained all life from me and am about to start the job hunt tomorrow. Can't say this Reverse marketing thing gives me the warm and fuzzies. I've only ever dealt with one employment agency before and they were absolutely fine.
