I think I'll just stick to the regular version. I've seen bits of the anime and it sucks royally.

yeah the anime has next to none in the violence department.. and the anime dante seems to be based on the first DMC dante (i like the **** DMC 3 dante)

but still i'm a major fan, and i'll hand my money over to the 'i don't care about the fans' company (or at least the PAL ones), capcom

Has any 'blockbuster' release come out in the last year without a collector's edition? I can think of Orange Box and that's about it.

off the top of my head, nintendo wii games (can only really think of zelda, and the soon to be released metroid as 'blockbuster'), and apparently there will be no assassins creed collecters edition, just a pre-order tin of goodies if you pre-order

...but yeah i can see your point of companies cashing in on 'collecters edition'

my gripe with capcom is because they never released megaman anniversary collection and megaman x collection in PAL regions. But they make damn good games!

'The Darkness' was fairly hyped and wasn't collector's edition... but it did come with comics if you pre-ordered at some stores. Apart from that, my brain is numb... I guess nowadays having a 'collectors' or 'limited' edition of a hyped release is basically standard.

It's especially frustrating when the 'special uber edition' only contains say, a bonus DVD with a couple of movies on how the game was made. Most of that stuff has been unlockable in video games for years, there's nothing special about it! Rant over.

Man, you say it like you expect it to happen with every popular game...

I'm still waiting for that collectors edition of Ninja Gaiden to be anounced... ANY version...

I agree with that one, however sometimes it does tend to make the game less-how shall I put it...wierd. Star wars 2 Rogue squadron comes to mind here. The game had all that star-wars feel about it,menus and clips and text and all kinds of crap! but when I saw the making of film clip..kinda made the whole game seem like a little bit more out of place.

Absolutely, people think, "wow, it's a collectors edition, it must be good" and then all they're really getting is a bit of bonus content which could probably have just been an unlockable in the game. Then again, with some of the disc space issues I've been hearing about, maybe it's just because they can't fit this "unlockable" content onto the actual game disc and figure they may as well charge people for the privilege of getting to see it.

has capcom screwed PAL games again?

I have my collectors edition and all i got was a metal case and an artbook..

where is the anime episodes, pc content, making of dvd, and the soundtrack (the last two are the ones i care about) ?!?!?

Yeah I also was thinking about buying the collector's edition but really it's not that great. Some of the art in the artbook is O.K thou.

Dante is the best!!!

damn im getting th CE and it doesnt even have all the gear in it?? ripped...

PAL CE is terrible. The art book feels like a rough draft off early concepts. I was rather dissapointed.

I like the cover art though on the metal tin, it's better then the standard cover art.

The plastic slip case is a nice touch since it adds/removes the rating information and all other text that is usually on a game case. Plastic slip on = regular game. Plastic slip off = omg shiny tin!

It's like two worlds in one!
