EA working on Dead Space

PS3 News | A survival horror game.
EA has confirmed that it is working on Dead Space, a survival horror game whose first details will be revealed in the latest issue of American magazine Game Informer.

At the moment it's unknown what the game is about, but apparently it will be the "the most chilling sci-fi horror game the world has ever seen". Oooh, hyperbole. Apparently fans of the film Event Horizon will enjoy the game, but we're sure that's only a small group so hopefully it's a little more appealing than that.

All will be revealed in the next issue of Game Informer, and as soon as we know the details we'll let you know as much as we can about Dead Space.

Ill take a stab in the dark. PS3 as the lead platform (EA seems to be slowly moving towards PS3 lead platform games), simultaneously released on the 360 with basically the same visuals, and also released on PC.

Oooh Nice.

I thought Event Horizon was great.

I can just hope that we don't see another clutter in one genre, Platformer, FPS and oh-well.

Good games are good games, but being the most psychological dones't make it one. Resident Evil will be enough for me.

Event Horizon wasn't that bad. The movie had its moments.

If it's anything like Event Horizon it will kick all sorts of arse, EH was an awesome example of psychological horror.

It can certainly influence the good game argument to great lengths. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is a shining example.

Its nice to see EA finally trying something new and not looking for the quick cash in.

Apparently this is a highly original story concept by EA about a guy who is a passenger on board a space liner "the Warlock" which crashes on Saturn – the only way off is by getting inside a small space probe and traveling into deep space wearing an old diving suit he finds on board. He allows the probe to travel to a crippled & leaking space station called “the Hilton Citadel” built by a wealthy Martian industrialist. Inside the space station he must battle ultra right wing aliens and psychotic tourists gone mad with too much plastic surgery. He does so by using advanced technology and by splicing DNA modifiers to give himself special abilities & greatly enlarged breasts.

The PS3 version differs slightly in that it includes giant space crabs which must be flipped over on a BBQ and skewered with a sea trident from Neptune.

I'm a goer for this one.

More horror themed games is fine by me, especially if it'll be drawing inspiration from Event Horizon. That reference got me way more excited than I probably should be.

EH is probably one of my favorite horror films of all time. Could that make Dead Space my potential favorite horror game of all time? One can only hope...
