Final Fantasy XIII only 13% complete

PS3 News | Still a while off yet.
According to information from the PlayStation Premier event held in Tokyo, the next installment in the popular Japanese-RPG series Final Fantasy still has a long way to go before it’s ready to be released, with Final Fantasy XIII apparently only 13% complete so far.

In other Final Fantasy XIII related news, spin-off title Final Fantasy Versus XIII is currently only slated with a 1.3% completion. Despite both titles still being a while off yet, Square Enix has provided us with one screenshot from each game – the Final Fantasy XIII screenshot can be found in the Media Panel and the Final Fantasy Versus XIII screenshot can be found here.

At this rate, we can probably expect Final Fantasy XIII to be ready sometime in 2011.

Ouch. It's Final Fantasy alright.

Wow, that's a bit lousy. icon_sad.gif Aren't they supposed to be releasing a demo this year? At least we know they're putting in a lot of effort!

If they were putting in a lot of effort, wouldn't the number be a lot higher?

Hahaha, slap!

Maybe they're taking the Polyphonic approach and spending 180 days on each different monster? icon_wink.gif

That's so not what I meant. It obviously means they're spending a lot of time on each part of th game that they do, which is certainly a good sign for the final game's quality. If the number was higher, it would mean they're weren't paying as much attention to detail/rushing it a bit. While this may seem slow, it's probably a good thing.

Why Announce it, release a trailer for it and screen shots when they have barely even started making it?

Seems stupid announcing a game at such an early stage in development

^ it's called hype, reminder and excitement factors

love it how FFXIII is 13% and FFXIIIVersus is 1.3%, that's great.

These games are going to be beyond fantastic

Interesting percentages, especially that of FFXIII Versus, calculating to 0.1 of a percent the completion is pretty unusual, seems like a number pulled from thin air.

i'm glad they are taking their time, i think it will do them good to give it abit of a gap between releases so that everyone won't get sick of the franchise.

i hope that by the time they have completed it, it will be something that an owner of a PS3 can be proud to be apart of.

I never really expected the game to come out in 07 or 08.

they are either lazy or its gonna be big and good looking (like me icon_wink.gif )

Yeah, I agree that it could come in 2009...but seriously, 2011? The PS4 will nearly be launched by that time...

Who can get excited about a game that probably won't see daylight until 09?

Will the PS3 still be viable when this game comes out?

the ps3 will prolly be cheaper when it comes out so it will help all those people who desperately want it get it.

So the PS3 will be obsolete in 2008 icon_confused.gif

I believe it still see a release next year, just expect those numbers to "leap" across instead of just plodding across. But time = more quality so it's good in a way icon_wink.gif

Unless PAL territories get it in 2009 icon_rolleyes.gif icon_sad.gif

DrTim: Any idea when that was uploaded? It says that FFXIII is 80% complete! icon_eek.gif Man, if that were true..

Yea I dunno, I just found in another message board talking about this subject. I'd assume it'd be recent (this year) so I'd say it would be fairly accurate.

But if you look on the main site it is linking from (http://finalfantasy-xiii.net) there is a whole bunch more info.

OK, here's a little something that the PALGN article is missing:

Almost forgot, They have also officially announced that a new Final Fantasy XIII trailer will be shown at this September's Tokyo Game Show
Can't wait! icon_smile.gif

Also, the 13% completion has been confirmed by Sony..
