Tekken 6 heads online

PS3 News | Out next year.
At today's PlayStation Premiere Event in Tokyo Impress Watch is reporting that Tekken 6 will feature online play. This isn't too much of a surprise as a new version of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection will be released later in the year which enables players to verse each other online.

Namco Bandai also announced that the Playstation 3 version of Tekken 6 will be released less than a year after the arcade version. With the arcade version due out before the end of the year PlayStation 3 owners should be playing Tekken 6 by the end of next year at the latest.

great news, would like to see some new screens though since the ones i saw at the beginning weren't all that crash hot, i really hope they can improve and make it another giant leap from 5 to 6 instead of a small step barely.

Haha, yeh, Tekken is by far my favourite fighting game, not really in to Soul Calibur myself.
I suppose thats because Tekken was the first game I played, back in '96.
Ah, the good old days, sort of anyways.
Cant wait for Tekken 6, after Tekken 5 i got new hope after 2 consecutive crap games (Tag Tournament and Tekken 4).

Sweet Tekken 6 is gonna be online.

Will be great trying to pull off Kings mega combos with USA laggers. icon_razz.gif

As big as DOA4 online was/is Tekken is a pretty big drawcard so there should hopefully be a heap of aus gamers so lag problems should be pretty well sorted in that regard(hopefully).

I wish though in the Tekken series they'd implement the tag characters running around the edge of the play area and jump/run in when the tag option is used.Maybe even the distance from the user character and the tag character will add a bit more strategy when tag is used as dependent on distance there will be a slight delay or something as they run/slide/catapult in.

Oh and lol at Kashmere. icon_lol_old.gif

That is such an awesome idea, especially seeing as it's so hard to come up with innovations in this genre!

Awesome! I wanna see the next Tekken Tag game with THAT! Btw is Tekken 6 a tag game? Sorry I haven't bothered to read anything about it.

I love Tekken and will buy it and go online and be having fun. However I hope they have some customization or something to mix it up a bit. Tekken is getting a bit flat for me. Same goes for SC, it really hasn't changed at all in the last few games.

Yeah I would also like to know if the tag feature is in Tekken6.

And yeah i'm surprised that no dev has done that sort of thing in a tag featured game because honestly that would be awesome.Imagine with King swinging a character around into your tag partner on the sideline and him/her throwing out a clothesline maybe even missing now and then depending on how accurately you've thrown the victim.Hell even have them throwing coconuts or something sporadic on an island stage, even feature the tag partners having a non in game health affecting scuffle in the background just for visual eyecandy.

*sigh* originality these days is hard to come by.
