Heavenly Sword demo ready to go

PS3 News | The game's nearing completion too.
Posting on the official Ninja Theory forums, Chief Technology Developer "Ninja Mikey" of Ninja Theory has shed some light on the progress of Heavenly Sword and revealed a demo for the game may not be far off at all.

The Chief Developer stated, "Let me just tell you all that the dev team has finished work on the demo.. that's it... it's in the bag... so now it's a case of Sony deciding when they feel is the best time to release it to PlayStation Network". The developer also revealed the game is in the "closing stages of development". Ninja Theory is currently fixing bugs, after which the game is due to be finished.

If it's in the bag and ready to go then why do they even have to ponder when is a good time to release it!??!?!
Release it as soon as it is done to make the people that buy your games happy...simple.

Absolutely baffles me why they do this.
Like E3 demos at the show, they should be available for everyone to download if they so wish.I can understand them not wanting to release a demo for a crap game then all the better for the downloadee to save some wasted bandwidth.

^i'm thinking they might release it at TGS, but hopefully it will be a world wide release demo, so fan's all over the world can enjoy the goodness of this game.

Like Zarnoss, I say the sooner the better, but timing does have it's role. I think they're waiting for just the right moment to release the demo, at the time at which it will hype fans up the most, and hopefully interest some new people. I'm not sure exactly when that time is (probably next month, since it will be getting released in September and will pull everyone's attention to it), but Sony obviously have a plan.

I think the demo will be released close to the release date - say two or three weeks before to build up hype.

If you released it now I think people would move on to other things by the time September rolled around.

^ that is a good reason and one that i was going to put forward to Zarnoss. And yes, admeister, timing does have its role.

Umm... because it the development studio has the demo ready doesn't mean it's ready to go. It should still go through at least some QC by the Sony PSN people. So they will test it to see it downloads, installs etc properly over the network, and should put in some play time as well to make sure they don't find strange bugs when they play it.

Then of course there is the marketing issues mentioned above...

Bingo! Also maybe there are games at the moment that's it's sharing the limelight with so maybe they will wait for a period (week) when there is not mcuh else happening. If you've done any marketing of any sort it would make perfect sense.

This is great news for me because even though there have been comparisons to God of War I really can't see the appeal of this game that much. I mean it looks like a cross between God of War and Ninety Nine Nights. I actually think the graphics aren't that good (saw a couple of vids and screens ages ago) the last time I saw it and maybe I should have a look at some of the latest media to see if it's improved. I like the sound of the game but it's looking very generic and with a female lead i'll have to really enjoy the demo (or it needs to get consistent good reviews) for me to purchase it. I am hoping it turns out pretty good cuz this one of the better styles of games around imo because you can really craft a full scale adventure e.g. rpg's and fps are limited but 3rd person action games allow for so many different elements to be thrown in and mixed together there seems like an infinite amount of possibilities. Does that make sense? What I mean is you can have rpg elements, puzzle elements, driving/vehicle elements, jumping elements, hand to hand/gun combat....all of these will can work perfectly in a 3rd person action game but some of these things may not work perfectly in another genre such as jumping elements in a FPS.

I reckon this game is going to be a 7/8'er out of 10. E3 reports say it's still very buggy.

While I think there are still some issues with the graphics *her hair being the main point personally* I think it will get a 9.5/10 rating due to the game play and how immersing it is as a whole.

While watching footage i don't think i could see myself pulling away from this game, not only does it have face paced action the amount of time the studio has taken to give just as much quality to the cut scenes will be more like taking a role in a movie than having to sit back and wish you could press the x to skip the scene.

All the reports I've heard have been nothing but encouraging.

Ugh, this game's graphics are unreal. Track down some HD vids. Beautiful.

As for the gameplay, its looking to be deeper than God of War's and the 3 stance method has been praised. Apparently button mashing is a no-no (unlike GoW).

Well I hope you guys are right. I'm hopefull this game will turn out to be the bee's knees.

I just get a feeling from varies reports that it doesn't play as well as it looks. I'm not really a fan of the angry amazon woman killing people either. I like the side kick chick heaps more.

Its going to be as good as the other AAA games on the PS3 such as Resistance and Motorstorm.

PS3 needs some more exclusive games coming out this year. So far, its Warhawk, Lair, Heavenly Sword (and Home I guess).

Its a pity that games like MGS4, FFXIII, Little Big Planet will be coming in 2008.

It is s shame we don't get them 'till next year, but I want them to take as much time as they need to ensure a quality product.

Warhawk, Lair and Heavenly Sword should keep us very busy, not to mention Home.

The exclusive content for this year will be enough. Heavenly sword and lair will both be amazing however, i am yet to be totally convinced on warhawk. What are its major selling points at this stage? Graphics, level design gameplay? What do we know? Keeping in mind i come at the series totally fresh, having never played the series before.

i'm waiting for home to come out, hopefully i'm not dissapointed in the results but this added with other games this year should keep me occupied until the other great releases come out next year.
