The first game, Destroy all Humans!: Big Willy Unleashed, is currently in development for the PlayStation 2, PSP and Wii consoles and will see Crypto go to Earth in the "Funked Out" 1970s. In the game, Crypto will once again unleash destruction on foot, in his UFO and for the first time, using a prototype alien mech dubbed "Big Willy". Big Willy Unleashed is being developed by THQ's internal development team, Locomotive Games and has been built from the ground up to utilise the Wii remote and Nunchuck controllers of the Wii.
As for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers, they will be treated to the likes of Destroy All Humans!: Path of the Furon which is a direct sequel to Big Willy Unleashed and developed by THQ's other internal developer, Sandblast Games. In the game, Crypto is happily carrying out his tasks in the 1970s when a mysterious new enemy attacks and threatens both him and his Furon race. In order to defeat this new enemy, Crypto must learn the powers of an alien Kung Fu Master.
"The Destroy All Humans! franchise has consistently delivered a unique combination of fun and original gameplay delivering irreverent humor and over the top destruction that has garnered worldwide critical acclaim and commercial success," said Bob Aniello, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, THQ. "The simultaneous release of two all-new Destroy All Humans! titles means gamers can expect different experiences that utilize the unique technology of the leading gaming platforms."
"Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon will take advantage of the powerful Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, offering high-definition graphics, expanded open-world gameplay and a humorous story following Crypto on his journey of enlightenment and destruction," said Jack Sorenson, executive vice president of worldwide studios, THQ. "The Wii’s capabilities served as a springboard in designing Destroy All Humans! Big Willy Unleashed, and the game will take full advantage of the Wii Remote, allowing gamers to cause massive destruction on foot, in Crypto’s UFO or at the controls of the Big Willy mech."
While not much else has been revealed, we're willing to bet we'll hear more over the coming days. Both games are currently expected to release in early 2008.
