In the press release, EA claims that the game is a 'revolutionary new take' on the first-person action adventure genre. Big words, those. Patrick Sunderland, boss at EA DICE, claims the studio is known for taking risks and innovating, like they did in the Battlefield series. The studio wants to take this further.
Owen O'Brien, senior producer of Mirror's Edge, explains. "We want to change the way that players are able to move in first person. No more restrictions, no more being blocked by simple barriers such as walls and fences. We want to enable the player to move like a real person, with the ability to run, jump, vault and slide in a way that has never been seen before in a first person game."
The game will ship sometime in 2008. We'll have more information as it turns up.
