Pre E3 2007: Sony PAL PS3 price cut announcement coming

PS3 Rumour | Price reduction forecast: 17%

Australian tech website Smarthouse has confirmed that the recently announced PlayStation 3 price cuts for North America will be expanded to PAL regions. An announcement from Sony Computer Entertainment Australia chief Michael Ephiram will be made on July 12 to reveal the new price point.

The site forecasts that the price of the PlayStation 3 will be reduced by as much as 17%, bringing it down to $829.00. They provide no source for this forecast.

Damn its getting seriously close to the $699 I would pay for the console (that's how much I payed for the original PS2). Mid June 2008 is still my time frame for a purchase.

Well it's a price cut but it's still way more than what the US was paying full price before they even got a price cut. (via xe.com) Old US PS3 price $599= $696.42, new PS3 price $499= $580.16.

That's it I'm going to wait around for the price reduced PS3.
Been wanting to get one for a while but there aren't any games that grab me at the moment or in the foreseeable end of the year to come except heavenly sword which I want soo badly.
I just hope the price reduces before that game comes out otherwise I'm going to have to succumb to the evilness of gamewants.

There's no point in complaining about that. That's always going to be the case, now and forever. Never will the PAL regions get the advantage when it comes pricing.

The only way around that is to import, but with that comes the added risks and inconveniences. It really comes down to personal preference in the end.

it will take awhile for these to come into affect maybe, but the sooner the better if sony want's a piece of that pie.
