Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection to get online play

PS3 News | At a premium price.
Pro-G is reporting that the latest issue of Japanese video game bible / magazine Famitsu has confirmed that online play is coming to Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection on the PlayStation 3.

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is available as a downloadable title through the PlayStation Store. Online play for fighting games has been an issue for years, some people believe lag will destroy a fighting game online. Because of this very few fighters play over online play at all.

Apparently the update will be available soon and will introduce online rankings and enable online play. The new mode will be priced at around $10 AUD / £4 and we'll let you know when it's available.

$10 to play online...I think I'll leave it and stick to playing it offline.

$10 seems a lot, but also when you think about it, depending on which arcade you go to, thats 5-10 games and then you cant play any more, so i guess it could be considered a reasonable premise in that context.

Well, this would only really appeal to those who liked to play at arcades against other players, npc's can be to easy to beat on the hardest setting at times, so i'm hoping this will be a success since i've also had debates on whether the lag/net will be capable of running a fighting game online.

Well if they have an Aus/NZ server the game should hopefully run perfectly.Resistance runs just as good online as it does single player.I think all games should have Aus/NZ and global servers like Resistance when they finally release the damn thing.

It's worth paying $10 for a practise mode IMO. Not having this off the bat is criminal.

I dont even play the single player game i downloaded. If it is lag free then i would be willing to pay the $10

I believe the reason it wasn't included in the first place is because it's a direct port of the arcade version.

But 10$ for online, practise and survival mode seems mighty enticing.

is the current ps3 game able to customize characters? if so it'll be a good way to put your own creation to use even if its just looks, its good to see different styles and how people wan't their characters to look.

So if this patch is $10, how much is the original game to download?

That might be true. But last time I checked I couldn't pull up a 'move list' in the arcade or pause the game? It's just plain crazy not to include a mere practise mode and I think it makes the game kind of ruined (it's still great, but fustrates me that I can't experiment with the characters etc).
