Metal Gear 4 set for March 08 release in Australia

PS3 News | Bummer.
Atari Australia has sent out a release schedule today which pins down Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for a March 08 release in Australia.

Release schedules are obviously subject to change, so the release date could simply be a placeholder at the moment, but it's disappointing news nonetheless. Earlier this month it was rumoured the game was pushed back to March 08 for America, so it seems that there may be nobody playing Guns of the Patriots this year.

Plenty of time for Microsoft to un-exlusive this title too icon_lol.gif

Of course, there is the upside that if the game releases at Christmas in the US of A, PS3 owners can always import it due to the glory of region free software (hear that Nintendo? You and your bloody Super Paper Mario nonsense...).

In any case, I'm not expecting MGS4 until next years for Japan and the US anyway.

Still remains my most hotly-desired game. Sigh...I dislike the way we are drip-fed info about it and many other games like Smash Bros. Brawl and Assassin's Creed - I mean, throw us a bone, developers/publishers!

Doesn't really worry me since I wont be getting a PS3 till around that time next year.

Unsurprising, though you can always import icon_smile.gif

Funny you should say that. I prefer it when the first time I would see a game is in a shop or catalogue. This is before me following games on the net.

Nowadays, I wait upwards of 2 years for games I want. icon_confused.gif

It will be worth the wait, but it's a LONG wait. The good thing is for non-ps3 owners is, by then the ps3 should have had a price drop.

Its really time for publishers/developers to get a grip. More and more huge releases seem to be getting worldwide launches rather than this delayed bullshit.

I can't understand a logical reason as to why games are delayed in PAL regions so often.

i guess this shouldn't really be a concern now that games are unlocked for all regions, so i'll be importing a US copy once it becomes available there.

That was my first reaction, but if they implement an online mode your going to be stuck with a version that can only play on the US servers.

Guys has there even been a playable version yet?

I remember Sons of Liberty was supposed to be due out March, but it got pushed back to November.

I wouldnt worry about games getting delayed - so many good games out now anyways!

Well, my wife will be happy to know that I won't be buying a PS3 til next year! I have a 360 and all of the really good PS3 titles are multi-format, this was one exclusive that I was going to buy a PS3 for.

Doesn't matter to me, I'll just pick it up when it ends up on the 360

That's a big if and a highly unlikely one at that.

Unfortunately, that's what every non-Sony gamer you meet will say. The problem Sony faces is that every non-PS3 owner has the mentality with PS3 exclusives - "Well, there's so few PS3s, they'll have to bring it to 360 sooner or later to make their money back."

And would they be right? Maybe they would be.

But I dunno, I just get depressed when people start thinking like that, about any console. I mean, it's a little like "Well, there's so few PSPs, they'll have to bring [insert Final Fantasy/Silent Hill/GTA/MGS game here] it to PS2 sooner or later to make their money back." I hate that kind of thinking too.

at Hideo Kojima's Go3 talk, when talking about MGS4, he was only talking about it on a PS3, with respect to PS3 hardware.

if it does get ported, i get the feeling it will be very much against Kojima's wishes.

While at the moment I do doubt it will actually hit a March '08 release anywhere, at the same time I am not surprised to hear this. The last MGS game, Snake Eater, released in March '05 here in Australia. A week after Gran Turismo 4, to be precise.
