Grand Theft Auto IV special edition confirmed

PS3 News | Would you like a duffel bag with that sir?
Rockstar Games has announced via a press release that Grand Theft Auto IV will be available as a special edition on October the 19th in Australia and Europe. The special edition will be presented in a customised Grand Theft Auto safety deposit box.

The special edition will include a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV on the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3, a Grand Theft Auto IV Art Book featuring never-before-seen production artwork from the game, a selected soundtrack CD from the game, featuring new material from top artists only available on this CD, an exclusive Rockstar keychain for the safety deposit box keys and a limited edition Rockstar duffel bag.

The recommended retail price for the game will be $89.95 American, which equates to $109 Australian or 66 Euro. We're still confirming whether we'll be paying a premium price for this collector's edition and will report back as soon as Rockstar gets back to us.

Hahahahaha... no. Not for US$90 I wouldn't.

Pretty crappy considering the price, Im sure it will end up being more that $110 here.

i think it's pretty sweet.

Tin Box (which sounds like it's large. old school PC box size.)
Art of GTA Book
Soundtrack CD
Rockstar Keyring
Duffel Bag.

if it's around $110, that's a fairly reasonable price. most PC Collector's Editions come with similar contents for more dollars.

I'd like to see photos of this saftey deposit box, could be kinda neat - although the price sounds like it'll be pretty nasty icon_shifty.gif

Im doubt it. Since it's $30us more expensive than the regular edition will be.

My guess is $149.95

yeah, i'm expecting it to be around $150, which is, depending on the quality of the Book and keyring, still quite reasonable.

$150? I'm expecting $200, now that Halo 3 has set a precedent for $200 Special Editions.

US gamers whinge about $60 games which we recieve as $120.

90/60 = x/120
x=$180

The only thing that is 'special' is the people who fork out that kind of cash.

I'd take it over Halo 3 Legendary Edition any day of the week!

If the soundtrack CD is licensed music, and the art book is of a detailed nature I'll be shelling out, providing it is no more than $150.

I must be special then cuz i'd pay like upto $300 for something like that! Honestly the soundtrack in GTA games are worth more than the game itself imo.

That collector's edition sounds awesome and i'm picking it up for sure.

I'm happy to just get the PS3 version from play-asia for $60 bucks. Hopefully the 360 version will be region free so I can get that version AND the achievements!

yEa i'll be getting Ps3 version too but I love GTA as a series so i'm up for collecting some cool stuff for it. If it were Saint's Row or True Crime....they'd be lucky if I spent $10 extra on the special edition.

Like with Saint's Row I have 2 copies of the soundtrack cds and neither of them are even worthy of being coasters.

I bet the Ps3 version will squeeze in some extra stuff aswell cuz it seems to be the trend on Blu-Ray (See: Stranglehold and The Darkness).

As Ugh said, GTA's soundtrack CDs are more than worth of a purchase, and if they're in the limited edition, then I'm in for sure.

I'd guess at around a £60 price over here (with £50 RRP, it surely wouldn't go over £10 for SEness?) which wouldn't be bad at all for all that stuff, I'd probably go for it. icon_smile.gif

If its $160 or less, I think I'll buy it even if i don't yet have a ps3 by then. Even if i never open it (which i obviously will) it will be a collector's item in 50 years (hopefully sooner). icon_smile.gif
