California Games to be downloadable through the Wii

PS3 News | Coming to the PlayStation 3 network too.

Speaking in an interview with PALGN, System 3 CEO Mark Cale has confirmed to PALGN that California Games will be available to download on the Wii. It was first confirmed early this month that non retro titles would be coming to the Wii shop channel.

When asked about California Games Cale stated " You'll be able to buy it online, as an online purchase of course, on Wii and PS3, and you'll be able to buy it as a retail product too on Wii and PlayStation 3." This confirms that gamers will have the choice to purchase the game online or purchase it in retail stores. Cale also confirmed that the game will be playable online through the Wii.

Well hopefully its cheaper to download the title then buy it instore. Also if the game is going to be available via these methods then the copy of the game on disc you buy in store should be cheap as well ie a budget release and not a full priced game.

I still got my NES version of California games, used to love BMX and Hackey-Sack.

I loved the hackeysack minigame in the original on Master System. Bring it on!

I used to play California Games on the Apple. That game was so awesome. My personal favourites were hackeysack (take that you stupid bird) and discus throwing.

I remember it on Master System aswell. It was cool how you could pick out your own sponsor. Surfing and rollerskating were my faves. I love how little things could happen like the shark going after you if you wiped out sometimes or hitting the bird wit yo hacky sack.

Now there are going to be tons more games as opposed to the 5 or so of the originals. Let's hope they do something spezial with it.

I used to have this on the Atari Lynx (yes I owned one, laugh it up) as a pack in. It was a decent game, not really noteworthy imo. I dont think it warrants a re-release though.
