Clive Barker's Jericho media update

PS3 News | Spooky new footage from Barker’s new project.
Codemasters has today released a bunch of new media for its upcoming spooky shooter, Clive Barker’s Jericho, which will be released on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

As the name suggests, Clive Barker is lending an influential hand in the creation of the game, with the prolific novelist and filmmaker providing an original story for the squad-based action game. Players will be able to guide a Special Forces squad deep into the depths of hellish locations, trying to save humanity from great evil.

Fans of Barker’s novels and films will understand his somewhat twisted and darker side, and Codemasters ensures that Barker’s special influence will not be overlooked for Jericho - so, expect plenty of horrific, bloody and downright captivating references that’ll certainly go down well with fans. Codies has also released a handful of impressive screenshots of the game in action, which you can glance upon by clicking here, and a trailer that’ll hopefully whet your appetite for the game’s release later this year.

The new trailer comes in at a whopping 115MB, but is highly recommended. Oh, and a word of caution: there is some blood and guts – still looks fantastic, mind you.

That's funny I was gonna start a topic about this game (cuz I only found out about it today).....and the premise and setting sound frickin' awesome (also I love Cliver Barker).

A small description of the story (from Gamespot):

Quote
The overarching plot is that before creating Adam and Eve, God's first attempt at a man was a complete disaster who was banished forever into a parallel universe referred to as "the box." Inevitably, this aggravated the young whippersnapper somewhat, and he makes frequent attempts to reclaim his place on Earth. Each time, a group of US supersoldiers called the Jericho squad are there to send him back to his immortal plane, and that's where you come into the story.

It was clear from the developers' explanation that they didn't want to give too much of the heavily scripted game away, but at the end of the day their enthusiasm for the project got the better of them. Basically, the game will see the Jericho squad travelling through time to the World War II, Crusade, Roman, and Sumerian eras, in addition to a final era that they definitely want to keep a secret. Each time, your squad will have to sacrifice itself in order to send the firstborn back to his box and restore peace on Earth.
I can't wait!

Awesome looking game!!

I think some of these guys are starting to get the hang of next gen console hardware.

Hope it plays well.

The story sounds totally awesome, I admit that.

But considering that it is Disabling "him" for a few decades each time, I wonder if it could get a little repetitive fighting the same guy at the end of each mission?

I recall reading somewhere that this lost city that emerges every now and then in which this evil dude resides is made up of layers. Somthing like, as you move further into the layers, you move back in time, as each layer contains a section of time sealed within it or something.

I can't remember exactly, but it sounds sweet!

(I SO need an Xbox 360 or PS3...)

And as for the final destination... well... perhaps a final confrontation in the Garden of Eden, or maybe even in a place before time itself!

Awesome concept for a game.
Game stories are just getting batter and better I tell you.

This game looks so awesome and freaky and AWESOME!!!

You're not giving the developers a lot of credit if you think they'd recycle the same fight over and over (though this does tend to happen in many games).

I heard of this game a few weeks ago (since I run a horror site, someone was bound to mention it). I'm skeptical over any video game based around writers and filmmakers. I do love my horror though, will be keeping a close eye on this as it develops... they should totally make a Rawhead Rex video game. icon_cool.gif

Wait, is this a first person shooter game? icon_mad.gif

First we fight Phantom Him, then Puppetmaster Him, Slow Him, Flying Him, and then finally Pig Him. This is the cycle of life.

No seriously, this looks so **** awesome. You can check out the trailer on youtube if you didn't want to wait for the download (like me). My god if they pull it off, it will be insane. But it can just as easily be boring, like Eyce said.

WOAH

First time I've actually paid attention to this game and suddenly my hype for it has fired through the roof. I want it!

Wow, amazing trailer. Too bad it had to be CG though. I thought we were past that stage by now icon_confused.gif

Not that there's anything inherently wrong with CG trailers mind you... it just doesn't give you a good indication of what the game will actually look like. I'm sure it'll look good enough though. What can I say, I'm naturally cynical.

As for the story though, I'm very interested. It sounds unique and looks to play an integral part in the way the game is played. That's very promising. This game has gone from 'mild interest' to 'way up there with the big boys'. Not bad for one thread.

Once again Ugh and I share a similar sort of anticipation for an upcoming game. icon_wink.gif

All I can say really is two things: the game is looking pretty sweet so far and the story sounds fantastic and also, Codies are certainly bringing us some awesome games in the near future. icon_biggrin.gif
