Versions for the PS3 and Xbox 360 have been confirmed, though worryingly Famitsu's feature didn't mention a Wii version. Interestingly, the Xbox 360 version marks the first time the franchise has appeared on a non-Sony platform.
In his interview, Morikawi confirmed that the game would include online play, and that the next-gen hardware would help him and his team create larger maps than in any of the previous titles, with even bigger katamaris now possible.
For those unfamiliar with the series, the Katamari games focus on a young prince with a katamari, a sticky ball that picks up any object it rolls over. As it accrues more and more objects and grows, it can pick up increasingly bigger things, meaning your katamari of chairs and hedgerows will quickly begin to attract buses and elephants, and then buildings and even small islands. The games are backed by some wonderfully quirky soundtracks, which only enhance the madcap nature of proceedings.
