David Hayter to return for Metal Gear Solid 4

PS3 News | Along with other series regulars.
Konami has sent word down the wire that David Hayter will be reprising his role as Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Many other MGS series veterans will also be returning in the fourth game; Quinton Flynn, Paul Eiding and Christopher Randolph will return as Raiden, Roy Campbell and Otacon respectively.

“I couldn't be more excited about this game. What I've seen of Metal Gear Solid 4 has absolutely blown me away. To bring the focus of the story back to Solid Snake, and to work with Kris Zimmerman and many of the amazing actors that provided iconic voices for the previous games, is like coming home,” said David Hayter. “I’m so proud and grateful to have been involved with Mr. Kojima on this legendary video game series for nearly a decade. This game is going to plunge players into the ultimate Metal Gear Solid experience. And personally, I can't wait to play it.”

David Hayter also made a guest appearance on the most recent episode of the Kojima Productions podcast to discuss his involvement in MGS4 and his thoughts on reprising the role of Solid Snake.

The full cast has not yet been announced, leaving some question as to whether Cam Clarke and Debi Mae West will return as Liquid Snake and Meryl, though given the breadth of the work these actors do, a return is likely.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is currently expected to arrive on the PlayStation 3 at the end of this year.

This will probably be the game that makes me buy a PS3, but more for the gameplay than ridiculous MGS plot. I hope they get rid of those communicator sequences and keep the dialogue in game.

I'm like you Bovine. This game will make me want to buy a PS3 (when finally it is released!). However I'm a sucker for the MGS plot twists - gameplay is second. I'm so hyped for this, for christ sake please don't bomb out on me.

You should listen to the KojimaProduction Podcast. It's quite awesome.

Only one man can say 'Metal Gear?!?' with the utmost authority and I'm glad he's back on the payroll.

David Hayter returns, and all is right in the world.

Predictable news in a way, but totally awesome news at the same time. As far as the games go there is no one other than Hayter who can be Snake.

Nah, Kurt Russel is and always will be Snake. But he was busy being awesome so they got this Hayter guy instead. Not bad for runner up. icon_biggrin.gif

Now all we need is the "not PS3 exclusive" confirmation and THEN all will be right with the world. icon_wink.gif

Have you ever seen David Hayter actually act on screen? He's not really that good.

luckily, he's not needed onscreen.

and he went through a lot of hassle to get the MGS cast to reconvene for MGS: The Twin Snakes remake, so that makes him a worthy Snake in my eyes.

2 terrible points. First was stupid, even joking, and to the second:
if you love MGS so much you'd buy a PS3 to play it
