PS3 not selling out in PAL regions?

PS3 News | That's a good thing, reckons Sony.
In an interview with Reuters, Sony Europe's David Reeves has denied that the PlayStation 3 not selling out in PAL regions this Friday would be a bad sign for the company. He went on to suggest that such a situation would actually signify that Sony had got the launch spot-on, a thought process that Reeves clearly shares with Jack Tretton.

"We don't want secret shoppers to go in there and say, 'Ah, it's not out of stock, therefore it's not selling,'" explained Reeves. "Indeed, what we're trying to say is we want to make it available to the normal shopper who goes in there and says, 'Do you have PlayStation 3?', and they will say, 'Yes.' And the same for the software."

Reeves also had some words for those who bemoaned the PS3 delay imposed on Australian and European gamers, arguing that the wait had greatly increased the number of PS3 units that will launch in PAL regions tomorrow. "It's rather like taking a bottle of soda water and we've shaken it so hard over the last six months that when we take the cork off, it's just going to explode," he mused. "I think that's a better way of looking at it than to say the delay is disappointing. It's not - it's really been beneficial for us. We're going to get it right."

Well, of the 8 consoles our store received, we sold 1. That occurred at around 4pm. No interest was shown by any customers before then. I give the console 15months, before BigW start to cut down on the mass ordering of things. This is what they did with Gamecube, & knowing them, it's what they'll do again.

I ripped this from my other forum, which was taken from another.

Got mine this morning & have been playing it allday. I got it hooked upto a 28" SD Widescreen TV Via composite. I went out & brought Resistance & MotorStorm, the system & the 2 games cost me nearly £550, i can't remember ever spending that much on anything!

Been playing Motorstorm a lot & it looks fantastic but not any better than most games i've playing on my Xbox360. Controller feels dead, its very light but without the rumble it just feels dead & it doesn't feel as good as the rumble with the PS1/2 Dual-Shock. Resistance looks good again but i think Gears Of War looks a little better to be honest. While the gameplay in Resistance is good again the controller just feels dead without dual shock. I also got the GT-HD & F1 demo's. Both look great but i was dissapointed with the F1 game. I had heard it was a huge improvement over there past efforts on PS2 but it felt exactly the same. I've got a bit of racing experience in my past & I can tell you that the cars physics feel appauling, it actually felt like i was still playing one of the PS2 F1 title's. GT-HD was great, however again without the Force Feedback through my steering wheel i just coudn't get into it like i could the PS2 games.

I've just spent £550 on the system & the games & so far its done nothing to show me that its worth that amount of money.

The controller feels dead without the Dual-Shock, the Sixaxis motion sensing is appauling compared to the wii, it just feels unresponsive at times & the controller actually went out of sync with the system about 10 times & i had to reboot to get it ack in sync. Graphically it looks great but not any better than the Xbox360 I already have. My sister who could be called a Sony Fan-girl since she's only ever brought Sony Console's, played it for 2 hours & said she went away feeling really let down & dissapointed as she expected more. She speant more time playing Dead Rising on my XB360 than she did any of the PS3 Games/Demo's I got.

I've always prefered the Sony Console's but the PS3 just doesn't impress me like i thought it would, i remember when i 1st got my PS2 I coudn;t stop playing it but with this i just coudn't get into it.
Friend of mine works in an Argos store & he said they should have around 50 in store, they had 3 Pre-orders & so far today they have only sold those 3. For the Xbox360 launch he said they had 25 in store & sold all 25 within 2 hours on opening, similar story with the Wii.
An update on the sales from our store today. 7 consoles were available from the start of trade. In total, today:
Consoles:
- 1 Layby (Not a complete sale).
- 2 Sold

Software:
- 2 Resistance Fall of Man Sold
- 1 Fight Night Sold

Consoles available for purchase: 4

For the region of PAL, the consoles not got off to a good start at all. In the UK, it'll be pivotal, as that's where most sales will occur, & with the above post an early sign, it's bad.

Cattle for sale in the City? It's hard to tell what kind this one is, but I'd say a heffa. I'll offer $150 per head, & that would come to a total of...., $150.

Seriously though, it's alot of money, & with the rising cost of goods these days, I don't think people are going to want to pay for a console instead of Fuel, Bread, Bills, etc. I know I don't.

UK has a new record. It pays to have consoles available.
