Sony reveals official Aussie PS3 midnight launch event

PS3 News | All the good things happen in Sydney.
According to Gamespot, Sony has confirmed that the official Australian PlayStation 3 launch party will take place at Sydney's Pitt St Mall.

Sony is hosting the event in association with Myer, which will set up a large viewing space outside its store on the Pitt St Mall, and will screen Casino Royale (the movie gamers get free if they register their PlayStation 3) from 9:30pm on Thursday March 22nd. Sydney radio personality Lizzy Lovett from 2Day FM will be the host for the evening. There will also be PlayStation-themed giveaways, free massages (?!) and a chance to play the PlayStation 3 on the big screen.

Myer will also give the first 100 people who buy a PlayStation 3 a free copy of the Blu-Ray version of Talladega Nights. So, will you be there, or lining up somewhere else around the country? Let us know in the forums.

Not bad, but I've already got my deal at EB.

I read in the paper today that Domayne is giving a blu-ray movie for free (no not the Casino Royale you can get free anyway, but another title) now to all pre-orders

I'm first on the pre-order list at Harvey Norman in Perth and, considering it's Perth, I doubt there'll be any lines.

The bad news is that I'll miss out on Stargate Atlantis going there.

Those episodes of Stargate Atlantis are soooo old. They are from the 2nd season which has been released on DVD already.

Thats how bad channel 7 is. The DVD gets released before the season is even aired. icon_rolleyes.gif

This forum really needs a "report" button.

As for the launch that's pretty schmick of Sony to offer so much, especially the massages, because that's exactly what you need after a long day playing video games... all kidding aside good on them for putting in the effort for the fans.

Ain't that the truth.

Playing the PS3 on the big screen would be quite the adrenaline rush. They should bring this to Melbourne.

EB will most likely hold big ones at Chadstone, Southland, Northland and Eastland as well as the city. But if you want value try any other midnight launch from any other store =D

I'm getting Talledega Nights anyway (comes with my U.S PS3). Anyway, it's a nice bonus, Myer will get a few more customers I think.

Yeah, but Atlantis isn't good enough to buy a DVD for. They took off SG-1 just when it was getting interesting to replace it with The Adventures of Captain Bland and his Dullsville Galaxy.

Deffinately the Toy's R Us in northlands will be having the midnight launch (where i'll be going) its a bummer that they wont be giving anything away free with their offer but i'm pretty pleased about the two games and now that *maybe* i'll be able to play on my monitor which will be a big bonus
