PS3 SingStar to come with 30 tracks on disk

PS3 News | Pricing confirmed for songs?
Details on SingStar for the PlayStation 3, a game where gamers sing songs against their friends and are graded based on their tone and pitch, are slowly becoming revealed. A pamphlet sent out to Australian retailers confirms a few small details on the upcoming game.

The pamphlet confirms that the game will come packaged with thirty tracks on the Blu-Ray disk, each of which will include a high definition video. Players will also have their own My SingStar page where they can upload videos and photos of their performance.

Thanks to a heads-up from forum member Maikii we can also confirm that the pamphlet reveals one of the songs costs ₤1.49 (AUD $3.64 / EURO 2.17). There are a few blurry, spy-quality shots of the pamphlet in our media panel.

Update: Just to clarify the article a little; the pricing is listed in a screen shot of the SingStore on the pamphlet showing that an additional download song costs ₤1.49. Sony Europe has since said to gamesindustry.biz "The SingStore prices on [PALGN] are wrong. We haven't announced anything on the prices yet." We'll try to get a comment on this from Sony Australia who distributed the pamphlet.

Oh my god, this is how you catch the casual market.

Pretty sure this is gonna take over the world.
I, for one, welcome our new digital overlords. (a popular reference if you younguns didn't notice).

The digital Overlords will have to wrestle control from the Ants first...

And besides, don't the normal Singstar titles have around 30 tracks on them? It seems like you'd expect... well more out of the flagship singstar title on the new 'ultra-capacity' medium Blu-Ray.

^ The online store and "MySingstar" is what scares me.

Yeah I picked up this brochure yesterday, it even has cover art featuring 'real' people for the first time (to emphasis the user created content I'm guessing) and it's a guy who features on the cover, not a chick ....

What scares me is the filesizes of the HD video clips =/
I'm not even a Singstar fan, but even I'm hurting over that.

Some news on pricing:
The brochure has a screen shot of the SingStore which you can just see that download songs cost pound 1.49 which makes it about $3.75 (based on 1st party games are pound 39.99 and $99.95 in Aus). This would make the video just bit more than on iTunes ($3.49) - but you can't sing to those ones ...

But they're HD video clips now, so they're much larger. I think 30 songs is pretty decent, really. The pricing of the downloadable ones seems fair, but the file sizes are certainly a concern. I hate to think.

The MySingstar feature looks rather cool to me. icon_smile.gif Have you guys watched the demonstration video?

I can't see people picking up a $1000 console for this, though.

Hey, it's done pretty darn well on PS2, so you never know. Anyway, people probably won't pick up a PS3 just for any game, there's things like the Blu-Ray player to consider (some people are getting the PS3 just for that!). I think it will pull in people who enjoyed the first set of singstar games, as well as people who are curious about it.

You could but you could always buy a Karoake Machine and have enough to buy a 360 HD-DVD and use it on a PC for movies. And plus it doesnt classical opera edition, so no pavorotti equals no go.

Seems the folks over at PS3 fanboy were a bit confused with the article.

Might need to clarify (I thought it was clear)

I updated the article.

Here's both pages that reference Singstar - the only title featured that isn't available on launch. The other games pictured all have similar pages, the other side is about the hardware. If you're that keen, head into EB Games and you should see a stack of them somewhere.
