However, the LittleBigPlanet experience truly begins with players learning about their character’s powers to interact physically with the environment though, and so there'll be plenty of puzzles to solve (either individually or as a team), stuff to collect and nooks and crannies to explore. As players delve further into the game, their creative skills will grow, and they'll be ready to start creating and modifying their surroundings – the first step to sharing them with the whole community. Initial levels will be provided, of course, while others will be user-generated on a global scale, meaning the game will change every day as players contribute their own levels.
The game's characters have the power to shift anything in the glued and stitched-together 3D landscape, and everything that is created and constructed can be viewed by other PS3 users. There’s no complicated level editor, either - you simply learn the required skills by playing the game. Oh, and it looks pretty charming also.
"We were confident that PS3 would be the platform to lead the way in creative gaming, and LittleBigPlanet brings this concept to life spectacularly," said Harrison. "By giving players the power to shape and share an entire virtual world via PlayStation Network, we've created the space for PS3 owners to realise their creativity and craft their own unique gameplay experience."
Sounds good, though we'll be made to wait - currently, a 2008 release date is as specific as it gets.
