Saints Row coming to the PlayStation 3

PS3 News | The Xbox 360 loses an exclusive.

THQ has announced via a press release that Saints Row is on its way to the PlayStation 3. Saints Row was released on the Xbox 360 in September.

"Saints Row has established itself as one of the most successful original properties in next generation gaming, and we're excited to bring the groundbreaking experience to PlayStation 3 system fans worldwide," said Kelly Flock, executive vice president of worldwide publishing, THQ. "Bringing the open-world genre to the PlayStation 3 system for the first time will help grow the Saints Row fan base and expand the open-world online community."

THQ has confirmed that the game will be playable online for the PlayStation 3, though they didn't elaborate on whether there would be any enhancements to the game.

It can happen both ways and to be honest I can see this happening more,
cross platfrom = more money, you appeal to both sets of fanboys

Not really, it's only a GTA clone. Its a fun game and everything but it seems to be lacking something that makes gta special. Once the story is done the game is rather forgettable.

Well actually I thought it was pretty big franchise that people loved
(not me) but y' know. Losing exclusivity is always a bad thing, same is applied to this.

Did anyone actually think 'Saints Row' would remain an exclusive. I never remember it being promoted as such? It was just exclusive because the PS3 hadn't arrived yet.

They'd have been foolish not to port to PS3. The GTA fanbase will lap this up whilst they wait for GTAIV.

What I'm interested in, is will they be adding any extra content or tweaking the graphics at all? I'd be pretty cool to add some new weapons and vehicles.

It's nothing big really, Saints Row was a good game but the 360 won't be hurt by the non exclusivity. Anyway Im betting that when the PS3 gets SR, there will be an announcement of SR2 for the 360

It's a totally different ballgame losing non-exclusivity for a game that's already been out for months and months. Especially one that is probably done selling consoles anyway. It's different when a game goes non-exclusive before release so no one wastes money on it or the console for it. It's good to see PS3 get some good (well.. if you like the game, which I do not) news though.

Saint's Row is old news now, like Oblivion.

The Row got stale pretty quick - it has no substance, no matter how much they tried.. I wasn't even keen to try to get all the achievements.

Sounds like we got some fickle gamers here if a game less then a year old is classic as old, maybe the classification of old is due to the posters age?

SR still gets played quite a bit on my system. Its not as good as GTA in some respects but its still fun.

Actually it was here. But I'm sure most people who wanted it have already got and probably won't buy a PS3 just for it.

I'm not really surprised this was one Xbox title I always suspected would make it's way to Ps3, mostly because it is GTA style and published by THQ and they multiplatform almost everything.

it is true that THQ loves to port, even in their spare time, but the fact that its GTA style would have little to do with it.

I only just recently started playing Saints Row so (apart from what I've played and the demo - which is basically the start of the game anyway) I don't have an overall opinion on the game just yet, but I must say that even so I am not fussed whatsoever about this news. It's almost to be expected with titles like this and has been mentioned, it was only exclusive because of necessity rather than intention. Infact, it's good news as it makes the PS3 a little more enticing (for those who don't have a 360 I mean) and that can only be a good thing.

I don't really see this as being a massive loss for MS. They have had the game exclusive on thier console for a while now. I think it was a great move for the publisher to make more money and get the series more known on another console. Sales probably won't be strong since gamers will be looking for new games for the PS3.

It's funny, everyone was on Saints Row's nuts when it came out and now that this happens everyone acts like they hate the game. How predictable.

I hate people that buy a game and then after a week they say its old and sell it..People should choose their games more carefully.

Hey! I still like tha game!
Hell, I'd consider getting it for the PS3 (whenever I manage to get one) if there is any substantial added content.
