PS3 Oblivion delayed

PS3 News | Drops back to 2007.
The Elders Scrolls IV: Oblivion has joined Sonic the Hedgehog as another title that won't be seeing the light of the US PS3 launch next week. Developer Bethesda has avoided giving any specific reason for the delay of what surely would have been one of the strongest games available at launch.

Nevertheless, there's still a reasonable chance the game is on course for the console's appearance in PAL regions next March (or whenever that may be), with Bethesda confirming it's due in the US during Q1 2007. If it does hit any more hitches, we'll get back to you.

Probalaby a good thing, they'll no doubt get a 'complete' package on the PS3 at least, without having to download bit'n'peices.

I smell an expansion pack in the works.

^ didn't the xpac ("Knights of the Nine" iirc) get announced not long ago?

Yeah, just recently. Sounds pretty decent, too.

Yeah I heard about that add on but it's just quests isn't it?
I could imagine them fleshing out the gameworld a bit more, what I mean is that on the world map there is still a great chunk of it that you can't get to.

i'm not really sure what's to be included.

iirc, there's a new faction, so more map locations is a strong possibility.

perhaps the delay is due to it not being ready? according to wikipedia, it's included in the PS3 version.

Yeah I was always disappointed in Oblivion that you couldn't get to a certain oint on the map even though it was like 1/8th of it.

Just read that wiki page on knights of the nine and I like the sound of people hearing about your quest and joining onto your 'team' on the quest.Might have to get that when it gets released.
My main character was a real do-gooder and powerful so he will have no probs going on that quest for the relics.
I also hope they ramped up the difficulty/levels of the enemies as I breeze through the toughest enemies with my character to the point it is yawn inducing.

At least you'll be able to rush out to stores and buy a stack of Blu-Ray movies to watch instead...

I was thinking the same thing. Lots of games have been delayed or canceled. There were already a few titles already canceled as well...

Late really low number launch, expensive hardware and difficulty to program for seem to be hurting Sony a fair bit. At least Singstar, GTA and Square Enix will keep them afloat for now.

It would be good if you could get more achievements with the expansion pack (on 360).

Bad for US, doesn't affect us. At least the delay means we'll get a really good launch. Still got nothing on the Wii launch imo, but it's better than the 360. At least things are beginning to pick up know, it's been hard being a 360 owner!
