Ridge Racer 7 slides around the corner

PS3 News | In game screenshots showcase the game.

Namco has just released some of the first in game images of Ridge Racer 7, the game is set to be available at the launch of the PlayStation 3 in all regions. Namco has had a Ridge Racer title available at the launch of every Sony product since Ridge Racer appear for the PSOne launch.

The screenshots appear to indicate that Namco will be incorporating a blur effect into the game, which should make the game feel even faster than it's predecessor, it seems like the game will also keep track of the slipstream that you get off other vehicles as well.

We'll have more information on Ridge Racer 7 shortly, here's hoping the game is more than just a small visual upgrade.

This actually excites me.

Sorry for the newb question, but does anyone know if the PS3 will have a custom soundtrack option like the xbox and 360?

Racing games + underground hip hop = Win.

Can't wait for this game. Ridge Racer 6, despite not being the prettiest 360 launch titles, was a massive sleeper hit in my opinion. I never played a RR game before, but I adored it.

It would most likely have that option seeing it has a HDD and USB access.
It would shock the hell out of me if it didn't.

I agree, I actually played it more than PGR3

Speaking about the visuals, I thought RR6 looked pretty damn swank HD.

On a more serious note, it is starting to look nice. I take that those crazy cut-up/blur effects are Nitro related? Also I gather this is 100% exclusive to the PS3?

I'm starting to think that racing games should no longer be shown in screenshot form, that gives me absolutely no indication of how the game will actually look.
