EA working on new skateboarding title

PS3 News | Time for Neversoft to worry?
The latest PSM magazine has revealed that EA Vancouver is currently hard at work developing Skate for the Playstation 3. According to the magazine, there are already 14 pro skaters featured in the game. The magazine only reported on a PlayStation 3 version so we're unsure if the game will be coming to other formats.

This means EA will be directly competing with Activision's Tony Hawk franchise, which is the most successful skateboarding franchise ever. More information for the game should filter through shortly so we'll report back when we know more.

Just what we need, EA to have another brand of game to make hundreds of sequels to.

I can't see ea making a better skateboarding game than neversoft, mainly because they have had an 8 year trial and error period headstart.

^Exactly!

Also how can you get a better name than Tony Hawk? He was the biggest and the best at the time and now he's become a legend. It's like making a Charles Barclay game after the Jordan series has been out for a while.

They can, just slap on Bam Magera's name and all the little kiddies will run for it!

I agree but...to quote myself

...in other words....the kiddies don't know sh!t!

Bam Margera is a funny guy and a great jackass....but he's no Hawk. Tony basically invented the 900 (first to land it)....what the hell has Bam done (other than being the 1st street skater to land the loop....which Tony had already done)? I'm not disagreeing that the game will sell well with Bam's name on it....i'm just saying....Tony is better.

Lol I agree aswell and that just it, he hasn't done anything spectacular in the Skate world, but for the kids that watch Jackass, Viva La Bam, etc, they will see his name and go oh I want that.

Bam is heaps cool though, that Camp Kill Yourself stuff is heaps funny and he does make a cool stuntman (he should actually be doing stunts instead of acting in hollywood).

It would be interesting to see who the kiddies would know better actually as Bam Margera is definately in the public eye more when it comes to T.V exposure....but Tony Hawk more when it comes to video games. Hmm...

However just becuase Hawk is a better skater, doesnt mean it will be a better selling game. I think there are plenty of people out the fed up with Tony. Interesting to see the results of this.
