PlayStation 3 manufacturing numbers cut

PS3 News | Back to two million for US and Japan.
First, there was two million. Then, it was four million. Now, it looks like we're back to having two million PlayStation 3 consoles by the end of 2006. And when we say "we", we of course mean the US and Japan. Gah.

The latest switch in Sony's PS3 production plan was revealed by SCEI president Ken Kutaragi, who also announced that the US will be getting 400,000 at the launch of the console on November 17th, while the poor old Japanese are to get a paltry 100,000 when it launches there on November 11th. As you now know, us PAL lot won't be seeing the machine until next March, though hopefully this will mean shortages won't be such a big issue any more. Mind you, on recent form, we wouldn't put it past Sony.

Hehe...I really wasn't expecting anything from Sony this year....so this is no suprise either.

Sony have to be the king of overhype. Pretty sad really as they tend to prey on the uninformed....get people to put pre-orders down and get them all excited and then dash any hopes. I'm not a huge fan of companies that blantantly fib like this! I can almost guarantee Sony always knew they weren't gonna meet launch this year in Europe as well as these 2 million extra units not being available.

Not impressed! icon_evil.gif

There has been nothing positive for the PS3 since E3.

What happened to that universal release Sony promised? *shakes fist*

I bet there's still a crazy shortage when it hits the shelves over here in March. I can't imagine anything other than the normal 'only those that pre-ordered a couple of months ago are guaranteed one' lark. icon_sad.gif /pessimist

Sony has not being doing well in the public eye for a while, they need to take a step foward, not another 3 backwards if they want to get anywhere.
